Because people keep arguing about why it's not stupid. Oh, and because some guy said something about me.
If you're not going to watch it, then simply post and leave. Letting people provoke you that easily is childish.
basically what he said.
Didn't like it, only saw it to review it. Too much anime fanboyism and too many unfunny pop culture references.
Anime fanboyism? Care to elaborate?
It's badass. The humor is great, action sequences were well done, and Michael Cera wasn't annoying. Easily one of my favorites this year.
I wanted Shia Labeouf to be in this movie, so I gave up when he chose transformers 3 over this shiny glittery movie.
Can't wait to see this tomorrow.
I might watch it eventually but the whole plot seems stupid, the comic book is trying to hard to be about video games and the tag line... :|
I wanted Shia Labeouf to be in this movie, so I gave up when he chose transformers 3 over this shiny glittery movie.
Shia Lebeouf would play a terrible role in this movie.
Anime fanboyism? Care to elaborate?
1. Pink/purple-haired heroine. 2. Heroine with a weird name. 3. All of the random anime-style text that pops up every which way. 4. All of the comic book/anime-style special effects.
Shia Lebeouf would play a terrible role in this movie.
Have you seen Holes? He dug through me straight to my heart.

And in the comic she changes hairstyle a lot but it's in black and white so in the movie they change the color
1. Pink/purple-haired heroine. 2. Heroine with a weird name. 3. All of the random anime-style text that pops up every which way. 4. It's a real fucking name, just a very unusual and uncommon one.
They even poke at the fact she has a weird name
1. Pink/purple-haired heroine. 2. Heroine with a weird name. 3. All of the random anime-style text that pops up every which way. 4. All of the comic book/anime-style special effects.
It was old game references. Old games had those things.
You kind of are missing the point of the movie entirely. The movie takes almost completely off the book, which is complete un-serious, and was published in 2005 before the whole 'epic' thing got out of hand. Trailers never give a good impression, no matter what the movie.
It doesn't really help to say "this book was saying 'epic' before it was popular" because then not only is it using a retarded word like "epic," but it's throwing in a hipster justification to be using it. Hipsters did everything before it was popular, and I want to punch them in the face every time the bring out that phrase. Even if it was in the book, it doesn't need to re-appear in the movie five years later now that that word has become a hallmark of idiots
Would you just shut the fuck up about it?! It's a fucking tagline, IT DOESN'T FUCKING REPRESENT THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Trailer say epic=Bad movie Great logic

There's no anime stuff in the movie. It's all based on western comics and 8-bit styling. Pick up a copy of Spider Man or go play Metal Slug, or even an X-Men arcade game and you'll see the point.
Would you just shut the fuck up about it?! It's a fucking tagline, IT DOESN'T FUCKING REPRESENT THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
hahaha calm down man, we're all friends here.
No I'm not gonna calm down because I'm tired of these dumb asses logic "HURR THE TAGLINE IS BAD SO DA MOVIE MUST BE BAD!! I R HAV GR8 LOGIC!"
Would you just shut the fuck up about it?! It's a fucking tagline, IT DOESN'T FUCKING REPRESENT THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
After watching the trailer, I think it does. Also sounds like it's going to have a lot of pop culture/video game references for no purpose other than pandering desperately to the target audience
Not really, the whole comic and the evil exboyfiriends are supposed to be like videogame bosses.
What's with the Cera hate? The guy obviously enjoys playing those roles and if he finds them entertaining to do, why criticise him for it? When the time comes and he decides to extend his range of characters then i'll be happy to see that but don't hate as though he isn't good at the archetype he plays.
Not really, the whole comic and the evil exboyfiriends are supposed to be like videogame bosses.
But just think about that for a minute...evil ex boyfriends...let it soak in a bit more. Then take a look at everything else in the movie, anime and video game references, the repeated misuse of the word epic, Michael Cera and a pink haired girl. Even if it turns out to be the best movie ever the concept is stupid.
There are no anime references...
So I just finished watching it. It was amazing. But the movie theater messed up the sound in the middle of the movie. (Which really pissed me off) But they gave everyone a free movie ticket so I am going to have round 2 tomorrow. If you have ever played NES game and/or like fighting movies or comedies watch it. NOW! the trailer suck don't worry about it. Just go see the movie.
Just got back from seeing it. Much better than I thought it was going to be. I loved it. I thought the action scenes were EXTREMELY well done, the comedy was great, and Cera did a excellent job portraying his character.
