Nik Bärtsch's Ronin - Holon(2008) Minimalistic jazz done right, this album is one of my favorite albums at the moment.
One very superb heavy metal album, in fact one of my very favourites of the genre. It isnt as crazy as other ones some suggested but it is some of the greatest which is a landmark for the genre. Learn.
Been there done that I own it
I like Chairs Missing more.
i disagree with your post.
Shellac - At Action Park Math/noise rock. Coil - The Ape Of Naples Industrial. Probably Coil's last album, recorded while John Balance was still alive but released after his death. If you want to get into Coil, start from this album. The Antlers - Hospice Indie rock. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Talk About The Weather Post-punk. A severely underappreciated album. Nine Inch Nails - Broken Industrial rock/metal. If you want to get into NIN, start with this EP.
Been there done that I own it
True classic, no 'been there done that' about it :smug:
I agree that that coil album is great
True classic, no 'been there done that' about it :smug:
No, there really is :v:
No, there really is :v:
Milestones like that are timeless... Probably only about 2 or 3 memorable albums made in this time.. Not much of the modern varieties will be remembered in 10 years anyway. Plain and simple! Legend :slick:
I didn't say it wasn't a classic, and to most people it will remain a milestone However to me, some of the albums I've listened to in the last 2 years have blown it completely out of the water. In the long run though you're right, it will go down as a milestone and will be remembered. Not for me though :v: I'm not hating on sabbath though, they're p. cool
Whole fucking album except for "Shrine" is awesome. It's the main dude from Celtic Frost/Hellhammer. The sound is fucking weird and awesome. Kinda like the devil farting through an amp.

Some Punk stylings maybe... [editline]08:41PM[/editline] fantastic album, the raw energy of it is just amazing... sure it's a little more mainstream compared to their original stuff, but it just, works better somehow.
I give this album the highest recommendation I can possibly give
Lambeth how about you tell us what the fuck it is first
Click the album cover [editline]09:25PM[/editline] you twit [editline]09:29PM[/editline] I would normally explain why a band like black cock is so great. I just can't explain what makes the band so compelling.
Kid Cudi- Man on the Moon. Seriously, one of the best hip-hop records out at the moment. CuDi is really different, and to me one of the only artists saving the rap scene. Try these Also we need more Hip-hop!

Still Life by Opeth Absolutely amazing album, absolutely amazing band. This is a concept album, about a man who wast outcast from his theocratic village(or country, city or whatever. You can't really tell, but I'd assume village.) because he didn't share the same beliefs as the rest of the people. He comes back 15 years later, secretly, to retrieve his love, Melinda. The first song, titled "The Moor" is his recollection of his exile, singing about what happened to him. It's written in past tense. "Godhead's Lament" is his attempt to cover up his return, and him watching Melinda, without making any actual contact. "Benighted" is about him trying to convince Melinda to run away with him, to free her from the society she is living in. He doesn't actually contact Melinda, this is all just what he wants to tell her, but can't. "Moonlapse Vertigo" is when he finally decides to meet Melinda. "Face of Melinda" is about his confrontation with her. After his exile, Melinda had become a nun. He attempts to convince her to run away with him. They express their love for each other, likely through physical means. "Serenity Painted Death" starts with the outcast awakening beside Melinda, to find her throat has been slit by the Council of the Cross.(The government in the village; they're first mentioned in Moonlapse Vertigo) He murders the guards who killed her, before being beaten to an inch of his life. "White Cluster" is the last song on the album. It tells of the outcast awakening in prison, and being taken to the gallows to be hanged. As the noose is tied, he accepts his fate, as he knows that he will be with Melinda once more. Truly amazing album, easily one of my favourites of all time. Oh yeah, and they're a pretty strange band. Their genre is progressive metal/ progressive rock. They combine death metal, blues, jazz, and prog rock all together, to create something incredibly unique. They don't growl all the time, it's pretty equal between cleans and harsh. The sty;e usually changes a lot even in the same track, which is very cool.

superb album, words cant describe how good this is. All these posthumous albums make us forget the greatness that was meant to be released. This album is worthy.. Trust me [editline]07:06PM[/editline]
You can't seriously believe that there has only been 2 land mark albums in the last 10 years can you, or maybe you're a hipster which would explain it.
Yeah i stand by my word. Very few modern albums can be seen as landmark albums due to the music industry being so developed ... Landmark albums are a lot different to just 'good' albums mate, it needs to influence a generation and have a unique concept in that sense. Cant name many but there definitely are
Yeah i stand by my word. Very few modern albums can be seen as landmark albums due to the music industry being so developed ... Landmark albums are a lot different to just 'good' albums mate, it needs to influence a generation and have a unique concept in that sense. Cant name many but there definitely are
What do you mean, "due to the music industry being so developed"? The 'music industry', for the most part, has always promoted the mainstream. However, very few developments have really happened in that area since recorded music. Look at bebop: hugely influential, but were the kids swinging to it? Heck, no! Even when an art music group gains commercial success, it's not as if you can tack the name, 'mainstream', upon it. Look at Kansas; everybody knows Carry On Wayward Son, but the pop fans back in '76 bought the vinyl and had no idea what had hit them. Yes, Carry On Wayward Son was a huge success, but you'll never hear Magnum Opus on the radio. And, really, the only time when a mainstream band has brought any sort of development to that style of music, it's just repackaging ideas that have already been done long before. Do you think the Beatles invented sitars and pandiatonic harmony? This is how music works: musicians influence each other and develop upon what has already been done. Arguably, every album that comes out contributes or attests to this in some way, be it through musical inventiveness or social sensibilities. Frank Zappa wouldn't have been tolerated two hundred years ago, but he is considered a master of American jazz fusion to this day.
when he say developed, I think he means overly manufactured. people like Kesha, Hannah Montana and the like
meh, P.O.S. is better
P.O.S is really fucking dirtyyy. His last album was unreal. Aesop rock's best album IMO. Notable tracks; None Shall Pass Catacomb Kids
