Van Der Graaf Generator - H to He, Who am the Only One Someone asked for prog-rock?
But I cannae be arsed :v: Right give me two awesome prog albums and I'll hunt em down and give em a listen, just have to do it when I'm in the right mood.
Relayer - Yes Red - King Crimson Hemispheres - Rush Genesis Live - Genesis Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull Go nuts.
Yeah but it's in the rules that you no talkey about downloading shit unless it's meant to be free stuff.
Everyone downloads music, it's a fact. We just try not advertise it
Everyone downloads music, it's a fact. We just try not advertise it
I don't. There's spotify for most things anyway.
I can't afford to listen to all the music I want, and to go out with my friends. I buy stuff that I actually find good, I "try" before I buy. For example Meshuggah, I want to get into them but I'm not going out and buying their albums and finding out that I don't like them

The xx's debut, xx. Beautiful voices and beautiful melodies. A great album to space out to. May not instantly appeal, but it definitely grows on the listener with time. Sample: [01. Intro] [04. Islands] [05. Stars] Other albums mentioned so far which I will also recommend: Radiohead -- OK Computer Radiohead -- Kid A Radiohead -- In Rainbows The National -- High Violet (also check out Boxer and Alligator by the same band; all three albums are perfect) Battles -- Mirrored Dream Theater -- Awake
Relayer - Yes Red - King Crimson Hemispheres - Rush Genesis Live - Genesis Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull Go nuts.
lol I wouldn't count Red as prog. To me it's the beginning of Post-Rock.
Great album from KMFDM, a balance between guitars and synths.

kmfdm makes terrible album covers that just make me never want to listen to their music
kmfdm makes terrible album covers that just make me never want to listen to their music
I love KMFDM covers. They're all stylized and in the same art direction, they're pretty good looking depending on the album. Though, Nihil broke that tradition I think.
I appreciate how they're stylistically similar, but they just look cartoony and stupid IMO
The album really reflects the attitude and sound of the band IMO. [editline]11:00PM[/editline] Check out my KMFDM thread, seriously. [editline]11:02PM[/editline]
kmfdm makes terrible album covers that just make me never want to listen to their music
They don't make the their album's art.
I would recommend Daft Punk's Alive 2007. Because... uh... well, it's awesome. Even better when you've already listened the other albums. :frogc00l: They remix their better musics together... and them fit perfectly.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik This is an awesome album in so many ways. Even if you don't like their new stuff, this album isn't pop-oriented at all. Just some really awesome music that kicks a lot of ass.

Absolutely staggered why i havent seen this here. This album is a masterpiece... Its jazz rock, 80s. Very clean great sounds. What an ALBUM
Jazz oriented you say? How bout this then. Similar to shining although not as crazy, more constrained, like a caged tiger. Still gonna tear your face off, speaking of which this was my face for the whole first and second run of the album from the sheer undiluted win. I must warn you, the win may be too highly concentrated for mere mortals such as yourselves :smug:
Decent album, not as much win as you suggested, but i do like the pretty avant garde styles. Not overly crazy about avant garde as some people but maybe its because i need to breach the gaps a bit more
Kill 'Em All - Metallica Oh my, where to start with this album. This album is PURE thrash metal. Of all of Metallica's album, this is their most unrefined, rough, raw work; which is a good thing in this case.
Such a good album I posted it a couple pages earlier.
Metallica's best. No question about it. Not for me, anyway.
Metallica's best. No question about it. Not for me, anyway.
Metallica's "best" but you don't like them? Makes no sense.
What? I do like Metallica. Their first album's the best, second just behind, third was really good also. But their fourth, And Justice For All, was a definite mark of their decline. Their work is still pretty good, but it's just not near the standard of their early work.
J Cole- The Warm Up It's a mixtape, but to me it's album quality. A lot of people are calling him the next Nas. mindless self indulgence- frankenstein girls This album is crazy..It's really one of the most unique CD I've heard in a long time. Parkway Drive- Horizons Metalcore to me has always been the same type of thing over and over again..but the vocalist for Parkway definitely sounds different than a lot of them. Lupe Fiasco- The Cool. Lupe's flow is so good, the concept is interesting and this is a rap record that isn't all about cars, money, and drugs.
This album is a very good orchestral/soundtrack album. Listen to "Pompeii" while taking a shit and feel like you are saving mankind.
This.
For an AWESOME new hard rock band, check out Runnin' Wild- Airbourne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2IyX5LXGyg
