Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space By Spiritualized I have never cried at an album, but this changed that. This is a real life album; the pain, the trouble, the redemption, all of it, beautifully mastered under this plastic lining. This review says it best.
Perhaps this is not an album that you could listen to everyday. Perhaps it's not one that you would put on when your friends come back after the pub for a smoke. Perhaps it's not one that you have the energy to listen through more than once a year, even. But when you need the medication, you know where it is. When you need those cool waves to wash over you, when you need those sweet musical hands laid on your ears, you'll know where to come. If you ever lose your love of music, remember that this album will only ever say one thing: I love you
I will have to give that a listen John.
I will have to give that a listen John.
Please do, it's an enthralling album.

I can't really put it into words, if you like it, you'll like it. If you don't, you won't. But being a huuuge Gaslight anthem fan, the days leading up to this album's release were murder. It's got some kickass vocals, catchy guitar, and a great feel.
Plej - Electronic Music From The Swedish Leftcoast Great music to relax to, always listen to this when I'm feeling stressed. Ellie Goulding - Lights Ellie Goulding is one of the few singers in the British pop charts right now that isn't either completely manufactured or just plain bad. Might not be to everyone's taste but there's some brilliant catchy pop songs on here.
The Human Equation-Ayreon It's a progressive metal album, and is very very diverse. The first time I heard it, I was thinking "meh", but after looking up the lyrics and understanding the story, it became 1000x better. Probably one of my favourite albums I've listened to. It features around 7 guest singers(if I'm not mistaken) who portray certain emotions in Me(the protagonist). This is definitely the best part of the album.
The album explores the idea of psychological rebirth, and follows the story of a man who, after falling into a coma following a car accident, is confronted with his past, his emotions, and his current situation as he lays trapped inside his own mind. The circumstances surrounding the accident are mysterious, as the man ("Me", portrayed by James LaBrie) ploughed into a tree on a deserted road in broad daylight.
That album is amazing, I love it. Such good guests, as well. Mikael Akerfeldt, Devin Townsend, James LaBrie, and Arjen himself of course. Great album. I love how it changes through so many styles, speeds and emotions. It's exciting to listen to just for the story.

I just can't start it in the middle. And when I don't finish it all the way through, I feel bad. It's kind of like trying to start an episode of Top Gear halfway through and then not even finish it; it's just not possible and shouldn't be done.

Yet have you heard of him? I think not!! Rest in Peace... you left behind one superb album that must be listened to.
now im probably not exposing you to anything new, but SUFJAN STEVENS - ILLINOIS is one of the best albums of this past decade. why? well, its some of the catchiest music you'll ever hear in your life, for one. i could listen to Come On! Feel the Illinoise over and over on constant loop and never get tired of it. also, it says a lot when you listen to the lyrics. John Wayne Gacy, Jr. is a very interesting song, lyrically, as is Decatur, and both of them are good listens as well. so yeah. go buy it or steal it or get it or DIE!
Schizophrenia is one of the first Death/Thrash albums and is essentially the transition between Death Metal and what you know of Death/Thrash. As opposed to Sepultura's next two albums which were incredible pioneering forces of the genre, they seemed to be basic thrash with Max's gutteral vocals. A noticeable difference is there is more tremolo picking and tempo changes to this work as opposed to Beneath The Remains and Arise, and the album is generally more rough and uptempo. The Cavalera brothers ,Igor and Max, who formed the band in 1983 we're only 17 and 18 when making this album, the other 2 members ,Andreas Kisser and Paulo Jr., we're 19. There is a rough production value that adds to the sinister atmosphere of the album (the album is obviously focused on Schizophrenia) however the guitars are not too distorted, the bass is noticeable where it wants to be but does not overtake the other instruments, and the semi-cheap drums surprisingly sound great. Max's rough vocals do the album alot of Justice, particularly those who enjoy Death Metal, as they are somewhat understandable and aren't the typical inaudible sound you get with vocalists such as Corpsegrinder. There is also reverb on the vocals and the guitar which at times are absolutely fitting for the amount they use which I think varies. Despite being young, the songwriting and lyrics are very accomplished, the solos are great, and the absence of filler can leave you listening to this many times over in one sitting without skipping. Sepultura - Septic Schizo - Headbanger's Heaven, one of the key songs on the album Sepultura - To The Wall - Arguably the best song on the album Sepultura - Inquisition Symphony - A dramatic instrumental Sepultura - R.I.P. (Rest In Pain) - An appropriate ending to a great album The album was released with Downtuned guitars, but were shifted up to standard for the re-release. Also, I even went to the trouble to make my ArtsCow free mousepad a Schizophrenia one, and have reason to believe that I'm the only motherfucker on the planet to own one
now im probably not exposing you to anything new, but SUFJAN STEVENS - ILLINOIS is one of the best albums of this past decade.
Also check out Michigan. Sufjan Stevens needs to continue writing albums about states. I suggest he do Canada next.

David Crosby - If Only I Could Remember My Name Just a stunning, stunning album. Crosby always was the most underrated member of CSNY, and his first solo album shows just how amazingly talented he is. I love his contributions to CSNY and The Byrds, but this album shines like nothing else he's done. What Are Their Names and Music Is Love give me goosebumps every time. Songs With No Words and Cowboy Movie both have some awesome jamming, and everything else just shines. If you like classic or folk rock or any of the bands mentioned I cannot recommend this album enough. Plus it has Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh on it.

It's one of the best concept albums I've ever heard. The solos in these songs have so much soul, it could put BB King to shame.
I love Crack the Skye. So emotional, really from the heart. Not a second of the album put to waste. amazing.
Triptykon - Eparistera Diamones. Easily the most angry, emotional and pure hate-filled album I've ever listened to. If you're in a pissed off mood, it's good to listen to. And it'll hang on you for a while.

Miles Davis. kind of Blue.
Simple enough premise... I'll start with [img_thumb]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PuDr5BumgO0/RfrcJ7-_C-I/AAAAAAAAASc/Z2C6jdmBKgE/s320/Odessey_and_Oracle.jpg[/img_thumb] Zombies - oddessey and the oracle its a forgotten gem of the 60s, sadly the band split after the release of their only great album have a listen and give your feedback EDIT: I've listened to a few albums here, and the one that blew me away right on the first listen was Television's Marquee Moon... they don't even make rock like that any more... it is just skilfully composed and the guitar work is superb, just goes to show you don't need excellent vocal skills to pull off great work, they made this album with true devotion [img_thumb]http://bitemefanboy.files.wordpress.com/2006/08/marqueemoon.jpg[/img_thumb] Some other albums that truly caught me on the first listen just like this one did: [img_thumb]http://www.esquire.com/cm/esquire/images/marvin-gaye-whats-going-on-2009-lg-31964782.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://jonnyrosemont.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/off-the-wall.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r210/jbonnain/Beatles_-_Abbey_Road.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TbWiZiFERwI/SeGraeTc-VI/AAAAAAAAAA8/HAZ1teKHY98/s320/innervisions.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9ROxkiDfems/R9Vmt8XSW5I/AAAAAAAAAZo/4U8YT4t-Awo/s400/sign-o-the-times.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://bravata.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/buckley_jeff_grace_large.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://dkpresents.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/the_doors.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://dkpresents.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/b000002p5y01_sclzzzzzzz_.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://www.academyannex.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/highway%2061.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i40.tinypic.com/2h8bsbl.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://blogs.phillynews.com/inquirer/inthemix/nevermind.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://dreysay.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/nas_illmatic_pv.jpg[/img_thumb] SECOND EDIT...... Quite recently I've been going through the Bob Dylan catalogue, thats just after going through Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen AND Prince's catalogues... and what I have discovered...... is that we are living in times where the man is reaching a point of his own artistic perfection... I'm not going to try and sound like an arse and be like "HIS MUSIC IS PERFECT"..... there is no such thing. But in terms of his own artistry, the studio albums that he has sent out recently (excluding the christmas album for obvious reasons), over the past 10 or 12 years, have been staggering recordings. He produces, writes and composes each and every track nowadays. And very few realise that now is the time.. unbelievably.. that he reaching this point. The albums in question that I am talking about, are of four consecutive ones. These albums go together so well, listen to them one after the other and you will know. I wasn't into country rock or blues rock a lot, but these albums give a HECK of a lot more about his devotion, musically. Much more than he has EVER done.. I say this because very few artists do have periods in their artistry where they consecutively release music that I can consider a masterpiece. Listen to them I dare you.
