Miles Davis. kind of Blue.
That album is here somewhere.
But I would say that album has a lot more to tell after a few listens.
Jazz is a difficult genre. Very confusing sometimes, albums like Bitches Brew is something I would say is more masterful than Kind of Blue.
A lot more of himself is on there I feel.

Probably one of the best progressive rock albums of the 70's, fuck, this could be THE BEST progressive rock album of the 70's.
Example of the lyrics from the song "Hymn 43"
Oh father high in heaven -- smile down upon your son
who's busy with his money games -- his women and his gun.
Oh Jesus save me!
And the unsung Western hero killed an Indian or three
and made his name in Hollywood
to set the white man free.
Oh Jesus save me!
If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself
from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.
Oh Jesus save me!
I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon --
His cross was rather bloody --
He could hardly roll His stone.
Oh Jesus save me!
That's an insanely good album, only slightly worse than Thick as a Brick in my humble opinion. No better Tull album than TAAB.
I guess I'm going to have to relisten and pay attention to the lyrics then.
But hey while we're talking about good emotional albums why don't I suggest this
[img_thumb]http://betterpropaganda.com/images/artwork/Hospice-The_Antlers_480.jpg[/img_thumb]
"Hospice" by The Antlers
Brilliant lyrics. Listen to them I dare you.
Here's the second track, the first one with lyrics to give you an idea

Kettering wasn't even the best track.

12 semi-short tracks by The Like Young, a couple [at the time the album was made]
Really catchy songs. My favorite being Sabine & Me
The song in the video starts at 00:30

It's one of the best concept albums I've ever heard. The solos in these songs have so much soul, it could put BB King to shame.
Really good album, I've kind of 'refound' it.

Dance Gavin Dance - Happiness
Quite possibly one of the best post-hardcore albums ever. Period.
Are you one of those fags that watch hbo and mainstream the fuck out of this album

I live in Scotland and I don't watch TV
I just really love the drums in Kettering. The bit at halfway through. I love that kind of thing.
But really the kind of fag I am is the kind of fag who finds a really cool band and shows it to his friends, who have heard of them for ages.
edit: also worth adding that Wake is my favourite track, thinking about it. Originally posted Kettering because it's the first track with vocals and it's better to listen to the album in order.

It's been a while since I've listened to this album, and coming back to it I remember how amazing it is. Seriously it's absolutely incredible. Cyber metal album. Unlike most industrial metal it's not right up in your face, loud vocals, all harsh and stuff. It's really quite a mellow album. It's almost dull first listen, but really it gets better each time you play it through, and man it has infinite re-playability. Listened it through so many times. Makes good use of distorted vocals and vocoder, There are Fear Factory thrashy growls and there's the (very) odd case of screaming in the background. But mainly it's clean melodic singing. The drums aren't super fast blast beats or anything like that- they're nice and qiute slow, compliment the rest of the sound well. The guitars are very crunching, and they sound almost like percussion (Any fans of Sybreed will know what I mean) And the synths and keyboards are nice electronica sounding, and there's orchestral in there too.

Truly a great album for industrial metal fans and those who don't even like metal. It's really quite accessible.

Atmosphere albums:

Seven's travels
Okay, so this album is basically what got me into both Atmosphere as a group, and underground Hip-Hop in general. The track 'Trying to find a balance' used to be my favorite track on there, it's a onslaught from Slug that genuinely sounds aggressive. Nowadays my favorite track is 'always coming back home to you' swiftly followed by it's secret track 'shhh....'- an ode to minnesota.
and now...

To all my friends: blood makes the blade holy
This isn't so much an album, as a group of EPs. But almost every track on here is a winner. The single 'to all my friends' is a really heartfelt shout out to kids with mixed up ambitions, and the older guys looking back over their life.
Atmosphere are undoubtedly my favourite rap group, even over Living Legends and Tribe.

I wish I could agree to this 100 more times. My favorite rap group.
Anyway, I highly recommend the album (If it hasn't been posted yet, Im not going through 19 pages to find it)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is such an amazing Post-Rock band. This is basically the soundtrack to the apocalypse. Anyway, here's a video to watch.

Goodspeed You! Black Emperor are absolutely amazing, I love bands like that. Infact does anyone know anything similar?
I should listen to F#A#infinity again
I only just managed it once before. It's mostly just atmospheric. But it's good yes.
I prefer Lift You Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven though.

I love God Speed. So fucking good, I have listened to them so much, especially Skinny Wrists.
Also, A Silver Mt. Zion is kind of like GodSpeed, well, it has a lot of memebers from GodSpeed.

I like wake too but it is dumb that the song was used in an advertisement for TV shows, just about every comment on youtube is about people hearing it off of HBO/Chuck.
How do you advertise shit with a song from a concept album

Because the lyrics in the song can relate to storylines in shows or something maybe.
Also if you want to get some real opinions about the song you're better off going to lyrics sites like Song Meanings and stuff

Gorillaz - Demon Days
You've probably heard of them but this was one of their best albums and hosts a heap of great music to appeal to a wide audience, where as most main-stream bands these days produce music for people who live in a box. Also Damon Albarn of Blur is the lead singer.
Song of Choice: O' Green World.
