Continuing on my last point, I can tell it will be a very dark sounding album. Less of the "hardcore" hip hop that people usually associate the genre with.
It's a much darker album than any other hip hop or rap album i've come across. I'm thoroughly impressed and in love with the album.
Sounds a bit self pitying for my tastes, but the beats are great. (death is silent)

The concept behind the album is essentially "death is a bitch". I like that about it. If you don't like the lyrics there's an instrumental version of it out i'd say is worth picking up.

Its better to embrace the styles incorporated rather than having those types of expectations. Concious hip hop is a quite an abstract, great style of hip hop.
There are a few more of those albums that need to be here.

I dunno man... I just find it a bit boring and annoying. maybe cause i'm in a bad mood atm, it might grow on me.

It happens, mate.
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
It's a Stoner Doom Metal album, I'd give it a 8.5/10. Pretty great stuff, if you ask me.

Mogwai is just a awesome instrumental group. They're kinda jam bandish. Lots of cool instrumentals that you can just have on while you do something. Really nice music to drift off to.
[editline]21st October 2010[/editline]
They're Scottish by the way.
Mogwai is quite good.
I personally prefer God Is An Astronaut over them though.
I've only listened to a bit of Mr Beast by Mogwai.
God Is An Astronaut are brilliant too. Love Shores of Orion, In The Distnace Fading and Radau.

Anyone heard of The Black Keys?
Going to try their debut album soon, heard good things about it.

Black keys? if it's the band I'm thinking of, I really like the song 'next girl'
Nokturnal Mortum - Голос Сталі

I'm not an expert on folk/black metal but this is fantastic

And this album doesn't have Nazi influences like some of their others.
+
People in the comments say the solo in the middle (4:00-ish) has a Pink Floyd quality to it maybe that might interest some of you idk
Apparantly their new album and debut album and one other album are brilliant, its only two people so I expect very simple blues rock.
Can't wait to listen to Big Come Up.

Might have been mentioned earlier, but incredible album. Lots of atmosphere, great sampling, makes you feel like you're floating at times. Wonderful stuff.
The entire album was assembled from about 3,500 vinyl samples.

I'm not a huge fan of rap, so me recommending a rap album is a new thing for me. This is a really beautiful album to me. The main force behind rap group cunninlinguists finally steps out to do a solo album, and this is the result. Beautiful beats with meaningful lyrics and flowing backgrounds. I haven't heard a rap album that's hit me like this, well... ever.
Okay, after listening to it in its entirety I have some opinions to make.
Its one of the greatest, most emotional, well-produced/performed, creative albums of the year.
Thats all.
Warning - Watching From A Distance
The absolute most depressing Doom Metal album I have ever heard. "Footprints" brings tears to my eyes almost every time.

"Mourning Golden Morning" by Ef
Great post-rock. I'm pretty much in love with Sons of Ghosts. The vocals in there are magical.

And a similar band

"55:12" by Gregor Samsa
Great as well (not as good as Mourning Golden Morning imo but eh)

The Black Angels - Passover

Psychedelic/Drone at it's best, the bands first album and the best place to start. The band is sort of leading the way in a Psych revival based around Austin TX.
You can listen to alot of their stuff on the band website http://www.theblackangels.com/
One of the songs off this album was recently used in a commercial for an xbox game called fable 3.

Holy shit, if you love Pendulum and like Drum and Base (there're some DnB songs in this album), you will fucking fall in love with this album. I guarantee if you buy this album you will fucking wanna have sex with it.
Just some samples:
This one starts out slow, but kicks in within a minute.
