Great album, makes you listen to songs you knew in another way, kind of.
Cloudkicker - Beacons
Really great Progressive Metal album, and you can download it from his site for free (Click "Buy Now" and you can put in any price, including none)! http://cloudkicker.bandcamp.com/album/beacons

Eureka and Insignificance by Jim O'Rourke
The music is hard to describe, but the emotion in these albums is like somebody giving you a big hug for 40 minutes. It's that good.

(Wait for the last half of this song. Fucking sublime.)
I've seen those album covers before, also the gatefold art is pretty disturbing.

It's funny because the album covers fit the music really well, despite being odd and outrageous.
Really?
Heard they were great albums, so might check them out.
They're two of my favorite albums of all time, so definitely check them out.

Moody long instrumentals. Not sure when a good time to listen to it is, but if you have that time its well worth listening to this.

Saul William's The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust
Great varied hip-hop album. Lot's of great lyrics. It has a lot of political shit in it but it is nowhere near pretentious. It was produced by Trent Reznor. I think it has a pretty unique sound.
Horse Rotorvator by Coil

Dark ambient/experimental/industrial.
Arguably Coil's best album and without a doubt one of the greatest albums of the 80s.

The Holy Bible by the Manic Street Preachers

Alternative rock.
The last album the MSP released before Richey Edwards(guitarist/lyricist) disappeared on the first of February '95. Edwards was suffering from problems with alcohol abuse, anorexia and self-harm at the time, and The Holy Bible is considered to reflect his state of mind at the time.
A disturbing and bizzare album to say the least, it is also the Manics' best work.

"Alternative" metal, because "nu"-metal is a horrible term mostly used when describing equally horrible music, and this album is far from horrible.
Catharsis in audio format, one of the angriest albums I've ever heard, with some really great lyrics.

Cop/Young God Greed/Holy Money by Swans

Experimental/noise rock.
A compilation of most of the Swans' extreme 80s material, this stuff can make the "brutal" death metal fans eat their hearts out. Savage and relentless.

Planetary Duality
By: The Faceless

A very well-written Death Metal album. Every single song is gold, and they all flow together so well. Lyrics are about a range of things, but my favorite would be "Coldly Calculated Design" which is somewhat about humans locking away their true potential as spiritual beings by conforming to modern religious and social pressures. As an album, there isn't one second of one song that I can stand to skip. I try not to keep this one in my car because if I hear the first song, chances are I'm not going to turn it off until the last one goes off. Did I also mention that the musicianship is prodigious and amazing?

Brilliant album, in my personal opinion.
I like the faceless, but at times I find them painful to listen too because there is so much happening at once
I understand that. It does take a while to be able to pick out individual parts. That's what keeps me coming back to it though.
Maybe you might like their first album more. It's a bit more approachable, I guess.

I just can't really listen to them
When it gets to the point where you get a headache from listening to them, you realise that it's probably time to stop.
I listen to music when I'm doing something, and listening to the facelss just distracts me and I can't focus on anything
I love The Faceless. I listened to it because of the drumming, but the rest grew on me, now it's all awesome.
Not a fan of Tech Death for the most part but The Faceless is good shit

Is that taken after the Gorguts album cos Gorguts is good shit too. Just a lot of Tech Death I don't like. Or more, I think there's better stuff out there.
They even sounds like Gorguts, but not as techy or avant garde.
Now I will post dat album

Not sure how much influence in the death metal genre this had at its time of release, but it's definitely done loads over the years. Even today it's one of, or possibly the most, avant garde and technical death metal albums ever released. In metal as a whole it's considered one of the most complex ever.
