The Union by Elton John and Leon Russell.
If you want to hear something that's going to get 20 fucking grammys, before it gets those grammys, and be all  about it to people, listen to this.
Its a great album.
One of his best in years. Shame about its failure to sell in the UK as compared to sales in the US.
Reverend Bizarre - III: So Long Suckers
A fantastic Doom Metal album lasting a little over 2 hours.
I am going to make a giant post here.
The Shins:
Oh, Inverted World.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/94/Theshinsohinvertedworld.jpg[/img_thumb]
The first album by The Shins, a very folk and indie rock album, plays beautifully. Each song has a individual feel to, but blend very well. “New Slang” and “Caring is Creepy” are good songs, but my favorite song is “The Past and Pending”
Chutes Too Narrow
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3e/Chutes_Too_Narrow.PNG[/img_thumb]
More rock based than the previous, but it’s better that way. It’s a brilliant album, plays better than “Oh, Inverted World” , and has some better songs, with “Young Pilgrims”, “Kissing the Lipless” and “Turn a Square” sticking out the most.
Animal Collective:
Feels
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/30/Feels_Cover.jpg[/img_thumb]
This album is sporadic. Hell, Animal Collective as a whole is pretty crazy, but it’s amazing. The genres of music in their albums changes in seconds in between songs, but that’s not a bad thing. The album changes from Ambient to Psychedelic , but it’s amazing. “Grass” and “The Purple Bottle” are very good songs, my favorite is “Banshee Beat”
Strawberry Jam
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/Strawberry_jam_high_res_cover.jpg[/img_thumb]
Strawberry Jam is a hard album to compare to Feels; it’s the feels the same, but feels different all the same. I feel this album flows better, even though it’s sporadic as well. “Peacebone” and “For Reverend Green/Fireworks” (these two songs transition perfectly into each other, making for a brilliant collaboration) are my favorite songs.
Merriweather Post Pavilion
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b0/Animal_collective_merriweather.jpg[/img_thumb]
Another Terrific album. Simply to put, it’s fucking amazing. Listening to it, mixing electronic music with a feeling of aborigines/Africa. A very awesome album, all the songs being good in their own way.
Panda Bear
Person Pitch
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/50/Pandabearpersonpitch.jpg[/img_thumb]
Very awesome album, from one of the Artist of Animal Collective, but it has its own individual sound. The album is indescribable, transporting from a lovely opening number, going through every wave of psychedelic, and then further. Pretty awesome album, “Bros”, “Good Girl/Carrot” and “Take Pills” being my favorite songs, but they’re all amazing.
The Decemberists
Picaresque
[img_thumb] http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/33/Picaresque.jpg[/img_thumb]
Folk Rock at its best. Every song is perfect, even the nine minute long sea epic of revenge. The songs are accompanied by very intriguing lyrics that compliments the instruments perfectly. Colin Meloy has a voice that is difficult to get used to, but the roughness entices the song, so it’s perfect. ‘The Mariners Revenge Song” and “On the Bus Mall” are two very different songs, but are amazing, the former being one of the best and most original songs I have heard.
John Lennon
John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a4/JLPOBCover.jpg[/img_thumb]
John Lennon was a master of music. His first album off the Beatles is so full of emotion, it makes you feel sad just listening to it. There are many occasions you know what Lennon is feeling, and his voice is perfect. “Mother”, “Isolation”, “Love”, “I Found Out”, “Working Class Hero” and “God” are great, each emotional in its own way. This album showed what Lennon was capable of doing.
Imagine
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/69/ImagineCover.jpg[/img_thumb]
If Plastic Ono Band showcased his talent, Imagine mastered it. The emotion form the previous album, it comes back, but more so. Even better, his protest of war allowed for even more emotional power. “Imagine” is the most famous of the songs, but “Crippled Inside”, “How?”,”Oh Yoko!”, “Jealous Guy”, “Gimmie Some Truth” and “How Do You Sleep?” are just as good.
Lemon Jelly
Lost Horizons
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/21/Losthorizonslemon.jpg[/img_thumb]
Is very awesome ambient album, with a space feel. Catchy beats, almost whimsical melodies, and instruments used in majestic nature. Uses electronic elements, but is a very good listen. Sit back, relax, turn the lights off, and float away.
Space Walk is one of my favorite songs of Lost Horizon.

Skinny Puppy's most recent release. An excellent balance between fast and slow tracks, Haze and Politikil. This album is a great addition to any electronic/industrial collection.

World's End Girlfriend - "Dream's End Come True"
A mixture of Eletronica, Post-Rock, and Classical, a fantastic album, with smooth beats, feedback, and some great songs that can change emotions simply from listening to them. This is the album I put on, and look at the sky for hours on end.

Yup
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
Progressive Death Metal. Really great stuff.

Great CD I got for around $10 and well worth the price. It has 11 blues songs by a few other artists and also songs by Jimi Hendrix, the songs are pretty good in length, too. The bass is very good on this too (I play bass and have learned to play the songs on it.). If you just want some music to relax to you should definitely buy this.
Here are some songs:
Born Under A Bad Sign - 7:37

Red House - 3:41

Mannish Boy - 5:21

Had a listen to a bit of Ryoji Ikeda's Matrix album.
And it is the MOST surreal experience. The first part is "for rooms" and it actually changes the entire environment you are in. You have to play it a bit louder but it is actually amazing. Its not an album for listening with headphones because it isn't meant to be put onto your ipod.
Play it through speakers and then have a walk around your room.
http://www.ryojiikeda.com/project/matrix/
Its genius, its a whole new world created before you. Through sound.
I walked about 10 metres away from my PC and I was still experience its surrealness, turning your head changes the nature of it.
Damn, the Japanese do know how to move you away from this world.
Its been recommended here before, but I didn't really understand it at the time.

Wonderful progressive rock concept album.

Amazing Jazz-Funk.
This is next on my list to order an original of :v:
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul
Great Melodic Death Metal album.

Treats - Sleigh Bells

never really delved into noise music at all prior to this album, but I heard the track 'Infinity guitars' on a radio station, and they're definitely an interesting band. Noise pop/Dance punk is how Wikipedia describes them, and I guess that's pretty fitting.

While that's good

To me, THIS is the first melodeath album ever. It was recorded in 1991, released in 92. 2 years before Carcass' Heartwork, Amorphis' Tales From The Thousand Lakes or In Flames' Lunar Strain. Those 3 are often considered the first albums, but this predates them all.
I haven't read the whole thread, so I am sorry if itøs already been posted.
Here's some of my favorite albums.
Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue

Ambivalence Avenue is a folk / electronica album released in 2009, on the Warp Records
Ambivalence Avenue is an excellent album, some songs are a shot a little too far away, but most of them are spot on.
Jealous of the roses" & "Lovers Carvings" are my favorites.
God I'm bad at writing recommendations, but who cares, listen to it!
Broken Bells - Broken Bells

Broken Bells is an indie rock band, a mash-up between Danger Mouse & Mercer.
I really like this album, it has a special feel to it, and every song is their own.
My favorite tracks are, about every track on the album.
Hammock - Chasing after shadows... Living with the ghosts

INCREDIBLE ambient post rock band, indescribable, every song has their own mood.
My favorite songs are "Breathturn" & "Tristia"
I'll provide a video, so you can watch the incredible music video.

Röyksopp - Senior

“Brimfull with dark secrets and distorted memories.”
By far their best album in my opinion, not as catchy as Junior, but alot better.
Very innovative. My favorite tracks are "The Alchoholic" "...And the forest began to sing" even though it's short & "Senior Living"
Last but not least:
Helios - Eingya

Released in 2006, Ambient / Electronica.
Very Boards of Canada alike, but then again not, it has more structure to be honest. I really recommend this album to everyone who likes ambient/downtempo of some kind and BoC.
My favorite tracks are "Bless this morning year" & "For years and years"
I'll provide a YT link for Bless this morning year

I think that should do
Hammock <3
Both Puscifer releases are great, despite their horrendous album artwork.

If you do not know about Puscifer, it's like James Maynard Keenan's third band (Tool, Perfect Circle)
They have songs from the defunct Tape Worm (Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Maynard cool-guy band.)
I know im seriously late but I don't think its been posted.

Incredible stuff. Ambient and trip-hop-y.
Bromst by Dan Deacon

What genre would this be um idk hippy shit? Electronic, experimental PsYcHeDeLiC shit
But anyway it's good. Very good I'd say, being the most trustworthy source on the internet.

Insurgentes by Steven Wilson. His first solo album, it's kind of a meeting point of all his other projects. It blends elements of Porcupine Tree, Bass Communion, IEM, Blackfield and No Man into some noise-rock-ambient-psychedelic-progressive-electronica hybrid bastard child. Takes a few listens to get into but it's a fantastic album from one of the most interesting people in the progressive music scene of today (IMO).
I'll be sure to check it out, I love Steven Wilson's works.
Goddamn I love that album. Abandoner's a really great song.
To be honest, it sounds like he tries to be different
Isn't that what experimental is kind of about?
or do I suck at music.

Burial's great. I love the whole chilled-out ambient side to dubstep. If you like this check out Joy Orbison and SBTRKT, similar vibe.
