This is an amazing Australian progressive/alternative rock band in a similar vein to Karnivool and the Butterfly Effect. This is their debut album which came out earlier this year. I recommend it to anyone interested in bands like Karnivool, Tool, Birds of Tokyo and Deftones, maybe even Muse.
The best Australian alternative band since Karnivool.

ISIS' Oceanic
Awesome piece of music, prepare for post-metal awesomeness. Progressive songs, atmospheric and dark, powerful and calm.
The albums is worth buying just because of the art, the booklet is very neat and it has a story.
It's also maybe the easiest album by ISIS to listen to.

Boston - Don't Look Back
does anyone else judge an album by its cover art? :v:
does anyone else judge an album by its cover art? :v:
I often do that, the old 'judging a book' dealy. The fancier a prog rocks album cover is, the more obsessed with fantasy the band are going to be, and thusly, they care more about their crazy ass fantasy lyrics. Also with hip-hop albums, if it's got one of those 'GANGSTA POSE DAWG' covers with a skinny little home-boy wearing tons of gold, I give it a :| face

So awesome.
I can often find good ambient albums by their covers
you can often get a good idea of genre as well from an album cover.

I beg to differ.

He is insane.. but the music is superb.

Another sorrow, because he was completely crazy just like Syd Barrett yet their expression was only given one chance. Apart from he beginning Pink Floyd and Manson simply being... a bit away from the rest of the world.
charles manson was a proper mentalist
is he still alive?

Yeah.. apparently he is still recording while in prison. Let me have a look.

Giving it a listen, sounds lo-fi and actually quite good.
Charles Manson - Air
:argh:
That Air album... something so great about it, can't get my head around it at all.

Just listen to it. I listened to it for my first time today, I literally feel like my mind has been expanded. Incredible.
Atmospheric black metal is just fantastic. I dislike that everyone who doesn't listen to black metal generally associates it with bands like Gorgoroth and think that's pretty much it, and if you don't like extreme music then people won't like it. The atmospheric stuff is so much better and really a lot more accessible.
inspired by other thread:

Collection of m1dy tracks and remixes, some of his best all in one album. Incredibly energetic and fast, fun as shit to listen to

Definitely. There was a guy on my college course who thought I was crazy when I was talking about atmospheric black metal. I got him to listen to Wolves in the Throne Room, so now he knows what's up :smug:
Yeah it's the same with melodic death metal, people think it's a total oxymoron.

For any metal fan, but especially for power/progressive metal fans, this whole album is pure earsex, especially songs like On The Breath of Posiedon (where Michael Romeo turns the song into an epic guitar solo instead of a mere interlude) and The Divine Wings of Tragedy

"Act I: The Lake South The River North" by The Dear Hunter
I know Last.fm listeners means nothing but I honestly thought that a band this good would have more than 85,000 which is a lot anyway but still.
It's a progressive rock band by a guy who used to be in a post-hardcore band, The Receiving End of Sirens.
I haven't listened to their other two albums "Act II: The Meaning of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading" and "Act III: Life and Death"
Here's your example.

God I love this album. I know, I'm a bit late, but that's not the point.
I just can't stop listening to it.
Explaining what the music is like is impossible. You have to listen to it, feel it, experience it.
