The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
This album is absolute greatness, on the first listen you will truly understand what this band are about. It is definitely one of the best modern records I've heard. Kind of taking psychadelic into the new age, it is kind of space rock too.
You need to hear it, just get it. :smug:

Chill as fuck with some delicious bass.

don't really know how to describe it, it's just different but really cool

Grateful Dead - American Beauty
Arguably their best work, very nice album... the vocals and lyrics remind me of all sorts of things going on around that time. Great stuff.

King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Right, here is an album I here noone talking about. The general feeling I get from prog fans is that the only "Really Good" albums that they made was In The Court and Red.
Well....What if I said that I preferred this album to those?
It is a very confusing album at first, a really unusual cluster of erupting sections, which melt my brain sometimes, along with some easy listening vocal tracks.
This album is artistically superior to In The Court, but that opinion can be thrown clean out the window due to the fact that it was so ahead of it's time... and now being propped up in the league tables over the years.
Give it a listen with open arms..It takes time for songs to develop and flow into each other like most progressive rock albums, but it is my personal favourite of theirs.
I'm not going to link any sections from it, as that is not how it is meant to be listened to. You'll have to put the effort in. :smug:
The first is better, imo.
The first is really really good, but there is something about the second album that's just incredible. The whole atmosphere and vibe is otherworldly. It sounds like their sound matured more, in CC I they were a little all over the place, although the stuff is still brilliant.

Comus - First Utterance
Despite first glances at the cover, it isn't in any way a metal album. It is actually Freak Folk... and I'm really liking it. Not the craziest album, but it is enjoyable and I will listen to it a lot as part of my obscure collection.
Ditto, this album is great.

Really good funky jazzy electronic downtempo. Think Amon tobin but not as experimental, dark and sounds really good on the ears.
Not sure if this has been posted yet.

Probably my second favorite album. A lot of catchy songs and Sebastian Bach did some fantastic vocals.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

The essential album for any Hip Hop album or artistic musical afficionado/virtuoso. Basically an essential asset to any music library. It's been mentioned before, but if you do not have this album, buy it, or you'll wake up in the trunk of my car.

De Zwaarte Van Het Doorstane by Akelei.
Dutch atmospheric doom metal.

Normally by word of mouth on the internet. Really worth it imo, there are amazing artists that have been labelled to freaky for society.

wikipedia has actually helped me find a few good bands
wikipedia has actually helped me find a few good bands
Wikipedia is a saviour to me. :smug:
When i see a good song, i wiki the band and start from their earlier material then go to their most recent album by album until an album is shit enough to not bother continuing.

Grindstone by Shining.
Everyone seems to only care about Blackjazz, but I recently checked out the older albums and it's just as good as Blackjazz.
It's not as aggressive as Blackjazz, but it's really cool. It's jazzier than Blackjazz, with lots of flutes and electronics and stuff.
It's got more of an art rock style rather than the black metal/mathcore-like style from Blackjazz.
Yeah, I think it's hugely underrated due to Blackjazz
I mean Blackjazz is fucking awesome but Grindstone is a great jazzy album, it's not very metal. But still really good.
