Not only the best album from the band, but also my personal favourite metal prog album. There is just something fascinating about this album that the others didn't have, and that was moderation. The techniques are still there, the drumming is still perfect and so are the guitar solos, but Awake is an album that is more driven toward the lyrics, the vocal performance and even, in some songs, the ambient keyboard. It its perhaps their less accessible album and certainly their darkest one, but I love it so damn much.
Awake is a perfect balance between the progressive and heavy sides of Dream Theater.

Seether - Holding on to strings better left to fray
I found it the other day on iTunes, I don't know if it is new or anything but this is a great album!

After the Gold Rush from Neil Young
In about less than a month it will be summer, and this only mean one thing : road trips. A road trip is only successful with a great road trip album to listen to (or more if it's a long one). After the Gold Rush is a great one to listen to while driving on the desert highway.
How many albums has Devin done now? :psyduck:
By my count, 5 with Strapping, 2 as the Band, 7 as Devin, 2 and 2 upcoming as the Project

Just like how What's Going On was groundbreaking in it's social commentary mixed with soul, this is another piece of genius by the man.
It's one of the best soul debuts I've ever heard. Listen to it all the time :v:

Tycho's Past is Prologue
Really nice "downtempo" ambient electronic music. I enjoyed it a lot and I know some here will love it.

Lauryn Hill's MTV Unplugged 2
It's a very unusual album. After her groundbreaking, album of the year winning "Miseducation" album.. she did a show of acoustic hip hop, soul.
What this means, is that all she tries to do here is strum and sing these ambiguous songs that don't necessarily have to make sense lyrically, but it's her expression that makes it great.
Critics all over the place panned it, Christgau gave it like a D minus... which is okay I guess.
It's so weird, even watching the videos I still don't get a true idea of what the hell was going on.

Heet Seas' [1]
http://www.last.fm/music/Heet+Seas/%5B1%5D
It's free for download on Last.fm. It's Progressive / Industrial Rock.
I think it was the first album that didn't have a single song I disliked. :buddy:
I discovered two songs of them when they were featured on Audiosurf, actually. They're not exactly well-known but I really loved their first album.
I've got some work to do.
The Tough Alliance - "The New School"
Genre: Swedish electronic pop

The Tough Alliance is one of my all-time favourite artists. There is just something incredibly upbeat and catchy about them. They are the ultimate feel-good music for myself.

Fang Island - "Fang Island"
Genre: Mathrock/Indie rock/Everyone high-fiving everyone

Again, one of the most upbeat and feel-good albums I know. There is quite a bit of math-rockniess mixed in with a general super upbeat indie vibe.

Modest Mouse - "Sad Sappy Sucker"
Genre: Alternative/Indie Rock

Amazingly raw sounding and down'n'dirty. Lovely.
Dukes Up

Classy Plastic Lumber

Royksopp - "Melody A.M."
Genre: Chillout/Ambient electronica

One of my first electronic albums ever. I got this album back in 2001 when it was released. I was in 4th grade at the time. There's just something incredibly relaxing about this album. Royksopp's later albums tend to be more energetic and do not have the same feel as Melody AM.

The Devil & God Are Raging Inside Me by Brand New.
One of my favorite albums ever. Think of a fusion between Post-Hardcore and Indie Rock with a dash of Post-Rock.
Goddess In The Morning - s/t
Female fronted Japanese folky dream-pop duo. The harmonic vocals in here are amazing.
