Yeah, I was really surprised by this album. I was going into this thinking I'd get some kind of "generic country" vibe with soulful vocals.
Instead I get this raw, gritty, creative delivery of artistry, twinned with some great songwriting. This is an awesome record, will definitely hear it again.
If you enjoy folk/country rock, this is a must. Quality.

80s Waits is awesome, some good blues here and he growls well. :v:
Some are actually very nice tunes which make this a cool, listenable album. Go for it.
of course 80s waits is awesome

yeah if you don't like the type of music, you're just gonna immediately be close minded to it.
but this is my favorite rock album ever. i know every word to every song and the meaning of each song is something huge to me and i love it. it's not an album with just 3 or 4 good songs, every song is amazing and i can listen to it non stop. best song - the irony of dying on your birthday,

If you like that give Белые Флаги Зажигайте Медленно a try. I stumbled across them a few weeks ago and really like them..

Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu - Gurrumul
Great soulful voice. He's somewhat popular because he's the only aboriginal/indigenous Australian to get mainstream success.
Australians here should be ashamed for not posting it, unless he's hated over there :colbert:
Aboriginal Soul. :smug:
CKY - Volume 1
As a fan of the alternative/hard rock genre, nothing matches the "grunge" kind of sound that CKY puts out in their almost mythical Volume 1. The reason that it's achieved mythical status is because the original release only printed 2,500 copies of the CD. Later on it was re-distributed by Volcom but nothing is better than an original (which you can find on Amazon for $35)

Bad Company's first album.
GET IT... if you like Led Zeppelin, that raw Hard Rock/ Blues Rock that's a bit "Stooges" like, then go for this.
Even better on vinyl, trust me.

I have not stopped jamming this since it dropped. If you like R&B and just generally amazing production, listen to it. This is coming from a person with The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds on their top 5.

Rhinoceros' Self Titled LP from 1968
Pleasantly surprised and I'm amazed how progressive it is for a blues/hard rock oriented work. There were definitely a lot more progressive elements being created in the late 60s than I would have first thought.
Worth a listen for the blues rock enthusiast.

Band: Sinisthra
Album: Last of the stories of long past glories
Year: 2005
Genre: Progressive Gothic Metal
Do you like Tomi Joutsens cleans? Stupid question, really: Every sane person does.
Combine that with extremely pleasant gothic metal and add a dash of pure beauty and you get this album.

Different from King Crimson but nice. It's pretty much a collab album just to show Fripp's greatness.
Some of it is ambient, some of it is hard rock and along the line you'll see some similar prog styles he put into Crimson. Nice frippertronic usage here too.
Flows well, I think it has an underlying concept which helps with that.

Looks may be decieving, but believe me.. this is some awesome piano rock/synth pop.
He's most famous for his Toy Story soundtracks, but he was a legend in the 70s/80s.

Why? Is the best ambient albums ever existed!

A beautifully sinister album that sounds like the brooding snarls of a demon in its death throes. References to occultism, the WAV size file is 666Mb, the length is 66:06, and just a generally creepy tone. May send shivers down your spine. Some have been known to cry while listening to this.
Thanks for recommending this, I found it very calm and atmospheric overall. Nothing creepy about it for me, great ambient expierience instead.

I'd say Drukqs would be Aphex Twin's best album. But hey, opinions.

Really? I love James Blake and what I'd heard of him didn't really do anything for me
Really? I love James Blake and what I'd heard of him didn't really do anything for me
Well I guess I was a bit vague with that recommendation, I guess the review was better.
Maybe James Blake is a bit minimal as compared to the more r&b oriented side, like Jamie Woon.
I can't really decide who is the better creator though.

Miles had a very unique career, each major stage was him exploring some completely new area of jazz.
Acid bath- When the kite string pops
Just a generally aggressive and disturbing album but still my favorite album of all time.
The Who - Live at Leeds.
The raw sound of all the instruments just makes it such a great album. You can really hear the power of the bass and guitar and Keith's drumming is fantastic aswell. I also love the improvisation over My Generation.

I think he ended up doing a hip hop oriented acid-jazz style no?
His most recent album I've heard is probably Tutu, which was quite good.
