and it's the only album art in which Cohen's smiling on.
Yeah, he looks nothing like Al Pacino on that one.

Absolutely the most beautiful, ethereal music I've ever heard. Talk Talk are known mostly as a cheesy New Wave band at first but that changed in their last 3 albums. The Colour of Spring had them dip their toe into new instruments and arrangements and things got really experimental in Spirit of Eden. However they really perfected it here in Laughing Stock and it's usually credited as one of the forerunning albums in the post-rock genre. At first the songs seem pretty sparse but if you're an attentive listener there are a lot of things going on so each listen will bring new sounds to your attention. Although you can hear bits of folk and free-jazz the sound of this album is really unique and it sounds very spiritual. If you already know and love this album check out Mark Hollis's solo stuff. Especially his self-titled album.
Haven't listened to Talk Talk in ages, must get a classic on as soon as.
Anyone know if that Shabazz Palaces album is any good?
excellent new folk music, do listen please.
daw you guys. have a rec HOREE SHEET So this extremely prolific Japanese guy (he's in a great noise-rock band called Ground Zero, does a lot of EAI stuff and apparently is the god father of house music in asia) gets some awesome musicians together and remakes Eric Dolphy's masterpiece. The band covers the same instruments, augmented with a few extras like Otomo's electronics, bari sax and a Japanese instrument called a sho. The basic themes of the original songs are somewhat present, but the band takes everything into new territory, updating Dolphy's ideas. And to top it off, a long session of very minimalist improv, in the vein of King Crimson's "Moon Child". If you like your jazz to be blissfully furious noise, are a fan of Yoshihide, noise, Eric Dolphy, get this.
a remake of out to lunch? that's tough territory!
thisispain, you seem like an interesting fellow. recommend me 10 albums that you think I should listen to, I already have bjork's disco so no need for that.
excellent new folk music, do listen please.
That was great, got anything else like it?
Meat is Murder - The Smiths
I don't like this album because it reminds me how douchy Morrissey is with his Veganism. Y'know he won't tour in Canada because of seal clubbing?
That was great, got anything else like it?
Gregory and the Hawke, the newest Decemberists album, Mumford and Sons, Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver.
Steven Wilson's Insurgentes Great progressive album, elements of noise that give it this shoegaze type ambience which I haven't seen in his band efforts. This is a solid, damn good experience. Fans of any styles of rock will enjoy it.

I don't really care for anything other than Siouxsie And The Banshees, I just was kind of "meh" regarding everything else.
HORSE the band - Desperate Living Proof that an album doesn't have to be pretentious, ambitious, or serious to be brilliant. Desperate Living is just a normal album and that's the greatest thing about it. Its truly fun and enjoyable even if it is sometimes too weird for its own good. I can't explain the music too well on my own (electronic metal maybe? I've heard it generalized as Nintendocore as well but that just sounds stupid to me), but check it out and you will see for yourself.

I'm going to recommend Escape Velocity by Zombi. Listen to this track and you'll know why.
Isis - Celestial (2000) Possibly the greatest amalgamation of metal sounds I've listened to so far. The band is influenced by other Post Metal acts and Prog acts like Tool, and to be totally honest this band is a great example of taking in influence to produce an original sounds. Hopefully we'll get to see Isis influence great bands in the future just like Melvins, Godflesh and whatnot influenced them. Isis are without a doubt a massive band, and despite their ending will not be forgotten. In this album you hear their very raw sound before it was later developed in their releases after it. It has been described as "Thinking mans metal" and the music draws entirely upon progression. There is also a very strong sludgy/groovy element to it that I'm a massive fan of. Just listen to this and decide for yourself
Aww yea some early Isis, they are pretty crunchy but after Oceanic they went superawesome and practically made post-metal
Mark Knopfler is the man for smooth guitar sounds.
haven't heard this post punk album in ages. I remember it being fucking good.
Brothers(Black Keys) and Attack and Release(Black Keys)
Don't see it.
Don't see what? The video? or are you saying that as in "I don't see what's special about this." ?
Morrocan Roll - 1977 Phil Collins drums the shit out of Jazz Fusion here. Brilliant and you don't even have to like Genesis, although fans will love this a lot too.
