listened to the Decemberists album with the Chinese couple on it.
It's better than Milk imo.
Decemberists are far superior to NMH. I don't dislike their stuff but I really despise the ill-earned musical holy grail crap surrounding that album

Someone needs to explain how the hell this happened. I don't get it at all.

Band: Mechina
Album: Conqueror
Year: 2011
Genre: Cyber Metal
If you haven't noticed through my recommendation of Andromeda yet; I like Mechina.
And this album is quite much my definition of "Great Cyber Metal". Epic, futuristic, science-fictiony, mystical, beautiful, great instrumentation, great vocals, great everything!

As a small note on this song: Begins with what sounds like a Muslim call to prayer. I like that! Arabic is a beautiful language.

I do feel the God inside that album, but I'm amazed how it has touched so many people's lives.
It's pretty good
I fucking hate Oh Comely though
They play an E major chord and he sings a G, the MINOR third of E so it sounds like shit
goddammit im cringing just thinking about that

The most beautiful ambient classical I've ever heard.

SONOIO - RED
I am not much of an electronica man, but this album is a rather good starting point.

Junior Battles - Idle Ages
Good fun pop-punk for summer. (I know most people are gonna stop caring after this point but I encourage you to read on). Idle Ages breaks the shell of generic pop-punk, it never transcends genres but it experiments just enough within its own genre to keep it from falling into the same patterns as most pop-punk. The guitars are technical and interesting at most times (utilizing math-rock riffs and often solos) and songs often break the standard structure to keep things interesting. Good summer album from a relatively undiscovered band. Highly recommend it.

i think I found my modern jazz masterpiece.
won't say what it is though. :smug:
Is it the new wu-tang?
no, it's some cool jazz fusion slapstick shit.

It's Jazz Fusion but more bass oriented. It gets funky, it gets noisy and it frigging moves like nothing I've heard from a bass oriented album. Damn good.
I posted this in the rate an album thread a week ago but everyone needs to hear this:

I assure you almost anyone will love this album, this is as good as it gets. It's easiest to describe it as funk metal, think Rage Against the Machine meets Tool/Karnivool. I can't recommend this enough, it's one of the best albums to come out of Australia recently, it's a shame the band was so short-lived.

This album, and any other recent release by Radiohead are proof that music isn't anywhere near dead. If anybody tells you "Music is dead" show them this fucking album (or any recent release by Radiohead for that matter) to prove them wrong.
In Rainbows is one of the most brilliant albums I've ever heard from the 21st century. It has that kind of originality that you don't hear on the radio nowadays.
Key tracks:
Bodysnatchers
Videotape
15 Step
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
All I Need
House of Cards

I think you're telling me "Music Is Dead" apart from Radiohead.
I didn't think King of Limbs was amazing, but it's okay.

I dunno what the hell I just listened to, but it was pretty cool. There are two ways you can see this album. A boring repetition of random unwanted sound, or a progressing sequence of ambient noise. Yea they mean the same thing, but the point is you can listen to it and enjoy the trip, or you can skip over bits of it and think "what the hell". To be honest 80 minutes may seem overbearing, and it's not like I've listened to anything else by Tangerine Dream but I came across it on youtube and was very intrigued, so I got the album and it was nice
Not your normal music.
Progressive to me is moving in different directions as the song progresses.
Otherwise anything could be called "Progressive".
[editline]6th August 2011[/editline]
progresser.
Progressive to me is moving in different directions as the song progresses.
And?
progressing.
No, I meant "and?" as in "What is your point"
