Comadre - Burn Your Bones West coast hardcore/punk

There was a huge gap between me first hearing Comadre and the point in time when I actually got around to liking it. It's probably unlike anything most of us have ever heard before, a strong hardcore foundation with influences from upbeat punk and depressive emo/screamo music. This opens up for songs that differ entirely in mood but at the same time keeps that characteristic, mega catchy Comadre sound. As i mentioned earlier, it takes work getting used to but the payoff is more than worth it.

It was alright, sounded repetitive to me on most tracks

Band: El Scar
Album: God's In His Heaven, All's Right With The World
Genre: Progressive Ambient Metal, Ambidjent
Year: 2011
Another free album. Another Awesome album. Quite many times have I started a track (especially the title track) and thought "Nah, I feel more for stuff like Insomnium right now" and just when I was about to change track some awesome part begins.
"..." "You have a persuasive argument, track."
And then I listen to it, and all's right with the world.

This album is fucking amazing.
People should check out the latest album by Bomb the Music Industry! If you know about BtMI! then you know they usually play haphazard and ridiculous punk rock with some ska mixed in and random blips and bleeps that remind me of chiptune. Anyway, I'm really into these guys and they've changed their sound a ton. Oh, they also release everything they make for free with the option of donating. I've donated to these guys before because they're amazing and I've seen them live a couple times. Really fantastic music, very friendly people with an awesome DIY attitude. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. Free music here:

Awesome, really liking the positive energy!
Another album I'd like to recommend is Some Kind of Cadwallader by Algernon Cadwallader. They have a distinct classic 90's emo sound, very similar to earlier bands like Cap'n Jazz. Really uplifting, cozy, beautiful stuff - I love it.

Just look at their live acts, they restore my faith in humanity

Algernon Cadwallader is amazing, I got to see them live a couple months back and it was awesome.

I'm not entirely sure what "neoclassical" is supposed to mean but I've discovered another side of ambient music that is described as "Darkwave".
In my opinion, the 80s style production really works with the type of music. It's very "big" sounding and it is very endearing...
I was given another recommendation that's a bit more smokey and jazz oriented but I've only managed to find a vinyl rip of it. Until it is remastered, I'll post it.
I love every second of that album

Nevermind, I found that it was released on CD a few years ago.

Minox - Lazare
Trust me... this is some "heavy" stuff.
Oh No! Yoko - PAU PAU

Really poppy alt. rock from Vancouver, BC. It makes me feel so happy.
$7 on Bandcamp: http://ohnoyoko.bandcamp.com/album/pau-pau
I got it for $6.35 on iTunes because I had iTunes money, though. So buy from wherever you want.
The last track on the album, 'Go Alien' is free, though. Check 'er out: http://ohnoyoko.bandcamp.com/track/go-alien

This is a great hard rock album, badass and yet at the same time sad. It's dedicated to their drummer, "The Rev," who died from a combination of alcohol and painkillers.
Here's a few of the best tracks from it:

Fell in love the first time I listened to it. Can't really pinpoint their exact genre, a mix of rock and dance I think but their songs are nice.

My favorite song from the album

A third wave ska album by The Aquabats. Really fun songs and some cool instruments, although I guess trombones and saxaphones are a common sight in ska.

well that's cool. I saw these guys at a free show last year at some college. really fun band, and better than the other two acts. the singer worked at the local grocery store. cool hearing about them on the net.

If that is your favourite, I heavily doubt the rest of the album will impress me in the slightest
Aquabats = mmmm nostalgia
Anyway people need to listen to Cursive. I feel like these guys cater to a lot of different music interests and they have an excellent catalogue. I'd recommend checking out Happy Hollow which is a concept album about a typical, god-fearing town and the sort of, uh, corruption? I guess? That goes on under the hood of the town. It's amazing and really hits home. Awesome, noisy sort of punk influenced rock with a horn section.

I'd recommend Avishai Cohen's Seven Seas. It's a great jazz album, with some amazing Yiddish twists. An amazing mix of styles and moods. The melodies are amazing, and transport you to a different world. But it's also a technical album, the piano has some very complex rhythmic patterns at times. A great listen.

Shit, lucky!
Hey, would you mind checking out my band? Or maybe I'll just recommend the demo - I guess it's the right thread and everything. Haha.
Screamo act from the west coast of Norway

Hope y'all like it!

Fuck yeah, cursive. I used to listen to happy hollow a lot, but I eventually started loving Ugly Organ much more.
I still haven't listened to any other albums by them though, sadly.
anyways um

Released in 2002, this is easily one of the best post-hardcore albums i've ever heard, along with elements from metal, and apparently progressive rock. but then again For some reason I also feel a bit of Tool influence at some points but it's trifling at it's small amount. be warned if you absolutely hate "whiny" vocalists like cedric atdi era, circa survive, and high pitched-like you would absolutely hate this. it's also a concept album but it's not important in that perspective because it's a lot more profiling or personal to the band itself rather than understandable by the people listening unless you just happen to come across coincidences with luck. it's my flavor of the month right now, and I love it so much
Mu Empire - Probably the heaviest track on there along with Pink Roses, and maybe Stuck Pig, intro is absolutely awesome imho
Must've Run All Day - Chiller track on the album, very nice.
Cosmopolitan Bloodloss - More Post-hardcore-y, a bit more unorthodox at some points too

Chilled out, acoustic folk-punk(?). Lots of emotion and a lot of fun, pretty much makes you want to conquer the world.

Within The Realm of a Dying Sun by Dead Can Dance.
Another one I'll post,
this one is probably their best and easiest to grasp because it's so damn soothing. Words can't really describe the atmosphere on here, it's not exactly "gothic" to me but more about someone's sorrow. I'm not too sure because I've only listened to this 3 times.
Band: Atomic Raygun Attack!
Album: The Sting
Year: 2007
Genre: Some kind of Indie Rock.
Why haven't I posted any album art? The album doesn't have any. If you actually don't know what the title is referring to, I'll give you this picture:

Yes. It's referring to my favourite episode of Futurama. And that's the concept of the album too. An album about the awesome Futurama episode "The Sting" with lyrics that efficiently portrays this highly emotional ep. And it's completely free! What's not to like?
Brian Eno & David Byrne - Everything That Happens Will Happen Today

Bought this yesterday on a whim, and it wasn't what I expected at all. In a good way. It isn't anything like the one they did in the 80's, and is a wonderful mix of electronic music and gospel. Really good stuff
