The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand Drone/Shoegaze Haven't seen this recommended yet. One of my favourite drone metal albums, you most definitely should check this out if you hadn't. The Angelic Process is unlike any other drone band I've heard. This album is especially enigmatic. Anberlin - Cities (2007) Good alt rock. I recommend it. There's just that "hurr alternative" appeal to it. [editline]6th January 2012[/editline]
Yona-kit - Yona-kit Japanese noise rock produced by Steve Albini. Great sound and complex songwriting, with some guest vocals of Melt-Banana's vocalist.
Call me 2 years late, but I've just listened to LCD Soundsystem's This is Happening for the first time. So damn good, I'm hearing David Bowie all over the place and it's a good thing.

Doesn't Somebody's Calling Me sound exactly like Nightclubbing?

Shame the dude left the band last year. Damn shame.
if i recall correctly lcd soundsystem isn't very much of a band. murphy did most of the work, and tyler, nancy, etc mostly worked as a live band. it's sorta like the final cut i guess but i never read into that too much there are exceptions though
LCD Soundsystem was more like his pseudonym anyway. It was just James Murphy who recorded and wrote almost every last bit of the music, he just no longer performs under the name. The three albums compliment each other well and I think he just wanted to leave it on a high note. [editline]9th January 2012[/editline] How could I forget, the London Sessions are great too. [editline]9th January 2012[/editline] Oh and yeah, Pat and Nancy and all that just played live, though they show up a couple times throughout the albums.
Doesn't Somebody's Calling Me sound exactly like Nightclubbing?
Yeah it does. It's arguably a ripoff but I reckon it's a good homage.
These guys are from texas and they have a pretty solid first mixtape called "Opening Arguments". I strongly suggest that if you like some cool rap songs, especially ones from up and coming rappers, that you should check them out. They even have a music video out. Here's the mix tape link: http://nationaldebateteam.bandcamp.com/ And here's a link to their first music video for one of their songs: http://youtu.be/IB5Vr_pIeuo Please check them out and let me know what you think!!
Are you recommending that to advertise or because it's actually good?
Are you recommending that to advertise or because it's actually good?
He's made 8 posts. All of them have been that exact same post.
Horrors - Primary Colours very fresh example of shoegaze sounds with punk elements. Worthy of a listen.
Now that I have Spotify I can look through this entire thread and listen to everything. and I'm doing a terrible job at it.
Up-Tight - Lucrezia An intense but great Japanese psych rock band, who deserve more recognition than what they get
I was looking for some hidden Japanese gems. Thanks.
I was looking for some hidden Japanese gems. Thanks.
Definitely check out Ruins if you haven't already, read this since it's probably going to do a lot better job of explaining how amazing they are than I ever will But, personally I prefer Hyderomastgroningem over Pallaschtom
there's no url, bro. :v:
Fixed. Also, on japanese artists, I very very highly recommend Mono, probably the best post-rock band I've ever heard You Are There and Hymn To The Immortal Wind are both great albums
THIS is the classical album I was looking for. A piece consisting of different parts that build and build with all these different sounds intertwining to create this really wonderful atmosphere. It's 50 minutes or so long and I've never heard anything like it. We can all stick to the Mozarts and all that Bach malarkey, but this is my experience of what may become my favourite classical album I've heard. For anyone who wants a unique classical music experience, this is your album. You won't regret it.
Sample track? Or is it really only good as a whole? This sounds very interesting.
It's one of those things that are meant to be listened to in whole. Here's a sample: of course the rest of the piece sounds very similar (that's minimalism), but attentive listeners will notice changes similar to a huge ocean liner slowly changing course. [editline]17th January 2012[/editline] hey you should check out this documentary of the man, steve reich. very cool. just find the other parts in the related videos thingy.

Personally I prefer Glass to Reich, but Reich is still really good. Met him once, really nice guy. Occasionally I'll go nuts and listen to nothing but minimalism for ages, but then I'll periodically get bored of it until I rediscover it again.
[release]
Eluvium - Copia
[t]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iw_Er81VX60/TGR74AoUiTI/AAAAAAAAAKo/JYt5XwYmULI/s1600/copia.jpg[/t] Genre: Instrumental post-rock/ambient/electronic w/ little hints of drone. RIYL: Sigur Ros, Helios, Hammock, Lights Out Asia If I had to describe this album in one word, it would have to "massive". This album makes me feel small, really small. Whether its the huge swells of strings contrasted with light twinkling piano melodies, or the lack of any sort of percussion that just makes the album feel so empty (in a very very good way). This album feels very lonely and desolate but not in a way that's ominous or off-putting, its a very welcome sound. Check this out for some uplifting, beautiful music, if you like any of the genres listed above. It's album cover is a good representation of the music itself, too...
