This just in, people only buy albums on vinyl is they love it a lot.
Um yeah that's sort of how it works for me. Why would I go through the trouble of buying an album I don't like on vinyl...
I own like, one or two albums I don't like on Vinyl. I know Xasthur - Defective Epitaph is one of them
i received a free sleeve of a rick astley album with one of my orders. troll seller. :(
I own 2 copies of the Never Gonna Give You Up single.

fans of Jeff Buckley will like this. Forgotten gem of the 90s definitely.

Album: Mantis Preying
The only way I can describe is just "Really unique alternative music made completely with mouth noises and vocals."
But also catchy as hell.
there's no question, I'm getting that album.
Tourist history by two door cinema club , it's one of my all time favorites. I like how all the songs are really happy and upbeat, it's just an overall great album. It also has a kitty on the album cover

If that's what you think, than you should listen to something from the second album. It may be even more Animal Collective than Animal Collective.
But at the same time, I really don't like the second album because it dropped all the vocal compositions and is now just a lot of noise (And Animal Collective.)
[sp]Or maybe I just don't like Animal Collective? This is getting confusing.[/sp]

Way ahead of you, listened to his newest album too and liked it a lot.
I'll agree with what you just said though. :-)
What I want to know is where the dude came from and how.

By Animal Collective I meant their less "crazy" stuff, more the "Sung Tongs" album they did.

Alongside Witchfinder General, they are one of the few “NWOBHM” bands to play doom metal. Although they were ignored by mainstream metal media during the early and mid 80s, their influence did not emerge until after the 80s incarnation had broken up.
Their gigs were characterized by moody, epic and heavy music interpreted with highly visual stage aspect which accented their interest for occult themes. Pagan Altar’s only release from that era was independent, self-released, self-titled album which was in later years often bootlegged. It was finally officially re-released on Oracle Records in 1998 and titled “Volume 1”.
In 2004, Pagan Altar reunited, re-recorded and released their previously unfinished second album, “Lords of Hypocrisy. These songs date back to the first 1980s incarnation. Also in 2004, “The Time Lord EP” was released, which contains recordings that date back to the band’s inception in 1978.
Their third album, “Mythical & Magical” was released in late 2006 and features a considerable amount of material that also date back prior to the 1982 release.

Are you fan of Folkish Rock with a bit of Doom in the mixture? Then this is an obligatory album for you.
This is the type of song that take you to the countryside hills and deep inside the folklore of witches, enchantments and sorcery.
Personally I would describe this album and the band as something beautiful. I'm a huge fan and I've seen them live a couple of times.
Mythical & Magical never ceases to surprise me since the year it was released.
No matter how much you listen to it, it will always sound fresh.
Here's a piece of it.

I like your opinion, in honesty I really don't know a lot about Animal Collective. So I'll probably give them another shot.
Rick Alvin Shaier is the drummer for another band named "Miniature Tigers". I've listened to their stuff and it's good.

How did you find out about this guy?
I checked Last FM and it looks like he just appeared from nowhere and hasn't become a /mu/ craze since his sounds are pretty lavish.

Friend's friend was a huge fan of him and liked to play "Temple Pressure" when we were in her car.
Sometime later I was using Rdio (Like Spotify but with no ads and instead a limit to how many songs you can play) and just barely remembered the name.
Thankfully the first album was on there and a couple weeks later I got around to buying the album over Amazon.
(So yeah, it's pretty obscure and you've probably never heard of it)
Funny enough I have a guy friended on last fm who I know is very much into Beach Boys/Animal Collective-esque sounds, he had 300 plays of him. :v:

I guess that's how this stuff gets around.
Anyways, I didn't know what to expect when I posted the album, but thanks a lot for your input. Maybe it'll be shared even more.

Released on October 23rd, the newest edition to their discography has without a doubt, lived up to all of my expectations. To anyone looking for something different, something mellow, something to melt their brain - I can not recommend this album enough.
[sp]Sorry for the page stretch.[/sp]
I recommend Moving Through Security by Evil Cowards. It's their second album, but both members have musical experience through other bands. They're unique, and if you find anything similar please tell me because I want to hear it. Here is the title song from their latest album:

I just listened to this for the first time and its so good!
Beautiful piano playing backed with awesome clean guitars, bass and drums.
The whole album has this incredibly good, light-hearted feel to it.
Theres not a single bad song on it, either.
I was "in the zone" for the duration of the whole album, really feeling it.
One of the best new albums I've heard recently and I recommend everyone to listen to it as well.

ambient experimental techno
For me, III is another one of those 'how the fuck did they make all those noises sound good?' album. III has a lot of gorgeous string/pad synths that flow effortlessly in each song to which are contrasted by rhythmic noise elements.

Deaf Havana's Fools and Worthless Liars.
Never before have I ever enjoyed every song on an album. There are some incredible riffs and James Veck-Gilodi's vocals are solid gold, strongest imo in 'Leeches', 'I'm a Bore, Mostly' and 'Nelson's County'. In my opinion, a much better album than their release when ex-frontman Ryan Mellor was still part of DH and deserves every good review it's gotten.

My girlfriend is a huge fan and has been to see them multiple times, not to mention the time she dragged me with her. :v:
I'm not really a big fan in that kind of genre but I do actually like them quite a bit. :D
In my opinion, their greatest album is 'Meet Me Halfway, At Least', but that is just opinion. :v:

Rout (Rou Reynolds, frontman of Enter Shikari) made this EP a few months back for charity.
If you check it out on his website, you can pick it up for whatever price you're willing to give to charity. :v:
Seriously the best money I've spent in a while, it is quality.

Band: So Much For Nothing
Album: Livsgnist
Genre: DSBM/Depressive Rock
Year: 2012
I just found this band a couple of days ago but I must say that I regret not finding it earlier. It is brilliant and takes a lot of liberties with the black metal-sound (thus keeping true to the TRVE spirit of black metal: Originality) and succeeds in mashing it together beautifully. Also, the brief guest vocals by good ol' Niklas Kvarforth on "Suffer In Silence" is amongst his best vocals I've heard this year!

The For Carnation - The For Carnation (2000)
Genre: Post-rock, Experimental Rock
I discovered this brilliant little project from Brian McMahan of Slint today. It's similar to Slint in many ways but it's definitely verging off into darker, more experimental territory. If McMahan had released this album with Slint I think it might be considered to be on the same level as Spiderland but unfortunately this project has mostly been overlooked by post-rock fans. Regardless, I would definitely recommend this to any fans of Slint, Talk Talk, or anyone who even has a passing interest in post-rock, especially first wave.

My personal favorite from this band, this track really shows how talented this band is. The lyrics are heavy deep and the sound of the track is really good. The percussion in this piece is especially splendid to listen to.

This is the final track I will talk about (Medicine isn't that great IMO). Fans of Radiohead will especially enjoy this song (unless you're only into Creep). The instrumentation of this band is amazing in all of their songs, but this one really takes the cake. The band really sounds great together on this piece. Elena Tonra, the lead singer, uses her voice very similarly to Thom Yorke's, edging on a quiet, almost moaning sound.

You know one country which is often overlooked when it comes to metal? China. A lot of people don't know that there are bands in China that produce high-quality black metal, like Deep Mountains or, in this case, Zuriaake. The metal (depressive and nature inspired) is top-quality and the inclusion of traditional Chinese music adds an exotic touch to this overall great album!
