Animals is basically the soundtrack to everything I've ever believed in lol And Awake...Awake is like sex in musical form.
I have to agree. And just because it is also an awesome record, The music in this is not only amazing, but the music will go with practically just about any tv show. It is so bizarre and awesome. [editline]12:02AM[/editline] It worked with Mythbusters for God's sake.
Momento Mori by Flyleaf I've always liked their other stuff, but this is better lacey mosley the vocalist has an amazing voice, and she's my favourite female vocalist by far. It's just got some great tracks in it, the drums, guitar and bass all slot together perfectly and the lyrics are amazing. The songs also carry a lot of meaning, which is why I enjoy them a great deal. Best songs from the album imo are, Missing, This Close, Beautiful Bride and Set Apart This Dream
[img_thumb]http://i50.tinypic.com/919oae.jpg[/img_thumb] Great, great dreampop. The genre name right there should give a good picture of what the music sounds like. The melodies are catchy and beautiful, and the guitar and feedback effects are really neat and add a lot of depth and beauty to the songs. If you like grand, dreamy music then you should check this one out.
One of my favorite albums. Really great. [editline]02:21PM[/editline] Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures Post-punk masterpiece. Many may say Closer is their better album, but I think this one is the easiest to recommend. The sound can be quite sparse and the lyrics quite dark. Perfect from start to finish.
is it kid a
uhhh..... yeah :burger:
The Cure - Pornography Post-punk/goth rock. One of the most depressing albums ever made, definetly the best album in their Seventeen Seconds/Faith/Pornography trilogy.
Disintegration was their best album imo
I like The Head On The Door best, followed by Disintegration and Pornography. Slint - EP Another Slint release. An instrumental EP containing two songs, Glenn and Rhoda, the former of which is a remake of a song of the same name from their first album, Tweez. It expanded on the minimalistic sound of Spiderland with more complex song structures and faster tempos, while keeping the psychotic, introverted atmosphere that made Spiderland such an amazing record. A must-hear.
http://www.facepunch.com/fp_images.php?t=941755 Possibly the best page in the history of facepunch :smug: This is Curtis Mayfield's debut album, some very nice soul vocals on this and his most memorable song "Move On Up" You just hear the history unfold when you hear it... a significant one in my collection. Have a listen
Alcest - Écailles de Lune This, simply put is a brilliant album. Truly beautiful. The band is made up of only one person who goes by the name of Neige. He combines the more delicious elements of shoegaze and black metal to create a truly mesmerising sound. When Neige was a kid, he had fantasies of being in a "Far-off country". The band serves as his musical adaptation of this, and the music is intended to take the listener on a journey of his memories of that place. In Écailles de Lune, we visit Neige's 'fairy land' for a third time. The reflective mood of shoegaze is still there, but, unlike the previous two 'fairy land' albums, Neige has exchanged a heavy focus on acoustics for more elements of black metal. Harsh vocals are used accompanying unreal, hypnotic chants that featured in previous releases. Most of the acoustic work has been ditched, and replaced with electric guitars that occasionally utilize the 'swarm-like' sound of black metal, but manage to retain the shoegazey mood. I could listen to this album a hundred times, and I would not even realise it. I found the songs so easy to get lost in, and very relaxing. Good music for studying. Also great music in general. Here is what I regard as the best song from the album, Percées de lumière:
yeah that album is pretty tops

Not as good as Souvenirs I think, but it's still amazing.
Have this on vinyl now and it sounds AMAZING :v:
Swans - The Great Annihilator Another Swans album, one that is fairly overlooked. Their next-to-last studio album, The Great Annihilator is far more accessible than their than their 80s stuff like Children of God or Holy Money, and would probably the best album to get into Swans. It's still the same noisy, repetitive and menacing sound they never abandoned, but with a certain pop feel this time around.

Camel - Mirage The American cover is different for some reason. Heavy symphonic rock with fantastic organ/guitar interplay. The first four tracks are all good songs, especially Nimrodel, but the final track, probably one of Camel's better known songs is the best on the album. Lady Fantasy is a 12 minute song, and it is one hell of a kickass song. I won't go too much into the details, it isn't something to put into words, it's something to listen to. Infact, stop reading this, the entire album is on Spotify, go listen to it.
Its the original vinyl and the mastering is UNBELIEVABLY good in comparison to the quite frankly... bad... mp3 that I have on ipod Of course I enjoy it on ipod because its still fantastic music... but I have to say, for albums like this compressing and removing frequencies does no justice for the band This happens a lot, mind.. I also have Close to the Edge on vinyl, which I haven't listened to as of yet... Yes are a great addition to my collection :v: which one of their's is really worth getting on vinyl next?

I'm gonna give that a listen.. cheers

Everyone else loves it, but I find it taking itself too seriously, only track I like from there is Siberian Khatru. Get Relayer, then The Yes Album, then Tales From Topiographic Oceans, then Going for the One. Anothe one I like is Drama, buts some find it too "poppy". Though I only find Tempus Fugit off of that poppy, and even then it's a fun song to listen to. Out of the Tunnel's Mouth - Steve Hackett. A gem I recently picked up, Hackett, who was in Genesis from 1971 through to 1977. An excellent blend of mellow songs, hard rock songs (Tubehead comes to mind) and acoustic interplay. Highlights include Emerald and Ash, Tubehead and Fire on the Moon.
fair enough i respect your opinion, i didnt jump onto a bandwagon when getting ctte because i genuinely think its a great work of theirs. Complexity and style of playing just went together so well. I understand why its probably their most popular among enthusiasts. I will give relayer a listen, maybe the concept is a lot more to your liking than than the ones i have. There is just something in fragile all the way through that makes it my favorite, it a very well engineered album imo.
Eminem - Recovery At first I didn't really like it, it seemed too "pop" for my taste, but trust me, most if not all of the songs here are fucking awesome. It doesn't beat Marshal Mathers LP, though. They are both very different, either way.
Sleigh Bells - Treats it's noise pop and it's beyond description
Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle Brilliant but batshit insane.

King Crimson - The Court Of The Crimson King Considering it was done in 1969, I think this album was way ahead of its time, moments of madness occur here and there, with an brilliant start, working its way through to what its an amazing end!
As previously mentioned Breaking Benjamin, their powerfull album Phobia. and It's the biggest selling for a reason.
It's the biggest selling for a reason.
off the wall... By far his greatest record
Opinions.
Opinions.
:v: off the wall and bad are more michael jackson than anything else. Thriller is mostly quincy jones and rod temperton style, then he started implementing other people's styles for his creation after bad. Still great music though Trust me :smug:
King Crimson - The Court Of The Crimson King [IMG_thumb]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_bIgHZQu-UEA/S3nyafdxBKI/AAAAAAAAAV0/oVkr7zuXXxY/s400/court-crimson-king1.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Considering it was done in 1969, I think this album was way ahead of its time, moments of madness occur here and there, with an brilliant start, working its way through to what its an amazing end!
Larks Tounge and Red are better, infact: Larks Tounge in Aspic - King Crimson King Crimson was entirely reformed by Fripp, again, most notably John Wetton of Family and Bill Bruford of Yes. Part one of the title track begins with gentle playing of various percussion doo-dads, it's rather calming and nice to listen to, this is over soon and a violin begins playing, slowly, Fripp edges in some ambient, low notes on his guitar. A drum roll begins and suddenly the most intense riff you can imagine thunders in and assaults your senses. This interplay of soft and heavy (EXTREMELY BLOODY HEAVY) playing is the genius of this album, ending in the second section of Larks Tounge in Aspic at the end of the album. Red - King Crimson Definatly one of my favourite albums of all time, Red is incredible. The first thing a listener might notice is, differing from the gentle intro of the album above, Red immediatly plunges you into a heavy, guitar-drum-bass song which became a live staple (See the version on the Deja VROOM DVD). The song is very energetic, with alot of power out of just three instruments. The next song, Fallen Angel, is rather grungy, sad, song with a horn section I may add. One More Red Nightmare is quicker song and one of my favourites is saxophone led and jazzier than the previous track. The final two tracks are getting lengthier. Providence is more of a free jam, though one of their better jams, not as memorable as the others. Starless, a rework of the title track of "Starless and Bible Black" is bloody incredible. It's a damn experiance, go get this bloody CD and listen to Starless, listen to it all.
