It's pretty simple, just roll with the conversation when it comes to it, don't be freaky, and enjoy your milkshake. Same thing happened to me a few days ago in this little cafe. But that's not to say we're dating, we're just friends, and that's all we'll be.
Go on the date - post results
It's not that I regret doing it, I'll probably make a really good friend out of this hang out. But, it's just the fact I don't want a girlfriend. I don't want the stress that comes with being in a relationship, at least not now.
Just treat her like you would a friend and don't make any advances. If she does stop her and tell her what I just quoted.
Why don't when you go out, if you start acting nervous or thinking too much, say THIS EXACT LINE
"Sorry i'm really nervous, You're just so pretty"
then she'll talk about how you're not too bad and blush
[s]THEN YOU GET SEX[/s] :buddy:
(dammit thats supposed to be a strikethrough)
Don't be a dick and just talk about her alot, girls like it when you talk about them because of some attention whoreishness they have.
out of the 11 girls i've been with only one didn't like me talking about them because they would get so shy they couldn't show their face..
its more that you're showing you are really interested in them and if they like the stuff you like then that makes this really easy as its like reading what you read about it except from their point of view (which is sometimes way off but don't say anything cause they'll be upset about not knowing as much as they thought about it (OH fine you know it all!!)) Although its regular to know more about something you like if you spend several hours reading about it..
Oh god, I'm no good with this kind of thing. I've only ever dated equally nerdy chicks who are just as awkward as me.
Bring some friends from your said comfort zone as wing men. James, Alec and Dan preferably so if shit hits the fan you can have them help ya out.

Hey, this thread is about helping the OP feel better, not any girl :downs:
Though, it would be a wonderful conversation starter!
Why be nervous if she, as you pointed out, only asked to go for milkshakes? She didn't actually ask for a date, so don't treat it like one unless you feel it's going that way.

You got a point.
Get a boner and have it stick out a lot. That'll help. waitwut.
NO seriously though, everyone says it, but just be yourself. The reason being if you act totally different and she likes you better that way your gonna have to do a shit load of acting. Oh and I had long hair once, it sucked. Actually I cut my hair a few months ago. I fucking love having short hair. SO damn easy.
But..

Poor Dan :saddowns:
You got a point.
And Dan has two points
:downsrim:
Don't answer questions straight up. If she asks what you do, don't immediately tell her. It isn't interesting to ask a question and have a straight answer, that gets boring quickly.
An example would be, "Oh (chuckle) it's interesting, you wouldn't want to know" It keeps her interested because she'll then WANT to find out.
Sounds like she just wants to hang out?
Your over thinking things.
I was hoping this thread would be a rant about how people generally say "Date" and wait for an answer. I leave very sad now.
Sounds like she just wants to hang out?

Maybe, but I don't know. First time a girls gone out of her way to get my number and ask me out. I'm usually the one who has to do all the work.
Anyways, I manned up guys. Got a good early night, I'm now 3 hours early so I'll be awake when she gets here. Gonna have some porridge, maybe sit outside for a bit, then shower. Gonna be perky and bright by the time it all starts.
Not really nervous anymore, I was dreaming about it all last night and went through so many different scenarios, and thought about your guys advice over and over. Gonna be a good day between two friends haha
I'd take pictures, but I have a shitty little camera on my phone and it'd be weird if I just whipped out my phone and started taking pics, wouldn't it? So yeah, not really a viable option. I think a wall of text will have to do for an update.
Also, quick question, what should I do about paying? We'll be going through a drive-thru, so I really don't wanna lean across her and be like "NO IT'S OK I'LL PAY NO I'M HERE NO I'M THE GUY" and just be annoying. I'm thinking of how to approach asking if I can pay, probably say something like "It'd make me feel better if I paid" or would that make it too datish? Dunno
PS: To Emperor Scorpious, my friend went on one of those public speaking classes, except it was more based around debating rather than just general speaking. It's bloody brilliant and gives you a lot of confidence when talking as a main focus of a group of people. I might take it up sometime soon, he just speaks really smoothly and doesn't jut up and get nervous.
It's always good to be a gentleman and pay no matter what the situation or relationship of the girl, even if it's a friend.
So I would say pay, unless she absolutely insists she'll take care of her own.

Yet again, thanks for the helpful tip Scorpious! What time is it where you are?
Just turned 6am here.
lol she asked you out.
Just be chill, and ask her questions about herself.
If she chokes on her milkshake, clear her throat with your tongue.
[editline]05:29AM[/editline]
Lol, accidentally rated my own post, and I have no idea what I rated it.

But like others say, it could be she just genuinely wanted to hang out and doesn't think of it as a date.
I know it's hard but don't think of it as a date, you're going to get a milkshake with a girl it's not like she's proposing to you. Just talk about whatever you have in common and if she really does like you then she'll be nervous too and won't have a problem helping keep the conversation going. The worst that happens is you accidentally punch her in the face or something, and that my friend would make the rest of your dates easier because hey, what's worse than punching the girl you like in the face?
Damn bro, you're lucky. I wish chicks asked me to go for milkshakes.
Offer to pay for her meal too. Just offer, don't argue about it.
If she wants to pay, let her. But it might give you a chance to "tease" her a little. Just don't be pushy.
Keeping a conversation going isn't too hard. Just start talking about something, and inevitably you'll get to other topics. It just sort of happens. And you can also make observations about the surroundings like "Hey, that salt shake is overflowing. I don't like salt." Or just something odd like that.

Highly doubt she'll be nervous, she's really confident and outgoing. We'll just have to see I suppose!

Good advice, thanks. I'll offer but won't argue. I won't comment about salt shakers being full though :v:

The salt shakers thing just an example that came to mind, it can be anything though. Like if you see a nice car in the parking lot, you can comment about how you want a car like that. Or a number of different things. Or as an obvious one, you can talk about how the milkshakes taste.
