Hopefully I won't get sued for copyright infringement.

You won't get sued. However, your ISP probably has the right to terminate your contract. Look at the fine print of your terms and conditions.

I would if I could! :saddowns:
These letters are sent out all the time; I've received one before. Those letters about torrenting aren't sent by your actual ISP, they're letters sent by a third party company to your ISP. On their own, these companies can't do anything because they're not the owners of the actual content you downloaded. The ISP that receives the letters don't want to do anything about them because if they stopped you from downloading they'd be losing your service, so they just forward them to you as a friendly warning. Another possible factor is if the companies are watching what you download, it might be considered invasion of privacy, so they don't try anything against you because they might also get into trouble.
Ahaha in Saudi Arabia they don't care about piracy.
In downtown there's usually guys with tables layed out with a lot of copied DVDs, with everything from movies, music, games, programs, ebooks.
For an equivalent of 4 U.S. Dollars.

But I'd never buy from them.
If I could download a car I'd have my own dealership by now!
Problem is you wouldn't sell them because people would just keep downloading cars!
Heh, my ISP doesn't care a shit about what I download. They can't possibly know is it pirating or am I downloading something legal.
Protip: Move to canada, its legal here :ninja:
-snip-
Yes, our internet sucks up here. Damn Bell and their monopoly.
Concast yelled at me for torrenting a movie once.
Then a month later they got their asses busted for invading people's privacy or whatever happened to them.

Did somebody call the Department of Redundancy Department?
VPN tunneling?
Only illegal to seed, afaik. Also, this comes with a price. Some of us have the shittiest ISPs ever. Like Telus.

Not that they even notice nor care.
Did somebody call the Department of Redundancy Department?

I would download the power to fuck every girl I wanted to.
You could download the fuck 2.0 package that adds three terabytes to your dick.
Thailand is having a nationwide anti-piracy/capture act in 3 days. Mostly companies will be fined for massive amounts of money.
Last week the police stormed an internet cafe, walked up to the nearest computer and searched for *.mp3. They found some in the Temporary Internet Files folder and called it piracy. :downs:
I got a letter and a phone call from my ISP 3 years ago. Apparently I was 4 times over my bandwidth limit because of bittorrent but they didn't know what I was downloading because I use utorrent's encryption.
Anyhow I didn't slow down at all and they haven't said anything since then, my ISP doesn't really give a shit I guess. V:smile:V
Yeah I never nick anything because I'm scared of the fuzz breaking in through my window at 3AM.
It's what you get for pirating honestly
Sure most people get away with it but it looks like you're gonna be one of the examples

Fixed.
Run a website. The torrenting bandwidth magically blends in then.
I would download a car if I could download car tax, petrol, insurance, and repairs.
A while back I made a thread along the lines of "What are the odds of getting caught with illegally downloaded stuff?"
Well, jinx. My dad texted me today "Do you use a program called bit torrent?"
I told him no, but that I used something similar.
He told me to delete it because Verizon had contacted him and told him that he might be breaking the law, etc etc.
I'm a bit scared because I don't know if he'll get sued and stuff. I deleted all of my p2p programs I have and I'm waiting 'til he comes home to see what happens.
I'll be going to work so I won't answer or anything but, I thought they went mostly after uploaders rather than small downloaders? Also I haven't used it in like a three weeks or so.
Verizon knows what you're doing at this point. What they want you to do is stop. They will not hand over this information but if you keep doing it they will drop your service.
Stop.

What happens if it's legal torrenting?
I mean, I have a torrent program on my PC, and I've never downloaded anything illegal, only shit like stuff on Garry's Mod etc. How can they distinguish?
