I've seemed to notice quitting is 10x harder then NOT STARTING AGAIN. That's what annoys me. Someone quits for 3 months then magically starts back up and regrets it.. but doesn't try anymore to quit.
Keep that in mind. But I suggest you just stop.. If you plan on having kids it can effect them (Being made fun of cause your clothes smell like smoke for instance. Happened to me.. and I couldn't even control it).

Ecigs are all well and good, but if you smoke 20 a day like I did, I got into the habit of only using my Ecig at home so I didn't have to leave the house to smoke.
but if you say, try and quit by using them. One day you'll be out somewhere without it, and you'll smoke a real one, or say your atomizer dies and you don't have a spare.
They're a good distraction. Don't get me wrong, I've 3 of them in my bin now, that I bought souly for quitting smoking. Best I did (only vaping them, no cigarettes) was 10 days.
The way I quit smoking was to simply just not do it anymore. I know that sounds strange but I just decided no more and went cold turkey, yes it was hard but anything worth something isn't easy to get.
LMAO. You thought older people like me telling you to never start smoking was just BS, right? I guess you learned the hard way.
I'm at 4 packs a day, but at least I'm losing weight. The reason I started smoking was to lose weight. I can eat Burger King all fuckin' day if I wanted to and just watch the weight fall off.
At this point, I can't quit. 4x20 = 80 cigs a day. 1 cig = about 6 minutes. 6x80 = 480 minutes. Basically, 8 hours a day smoking. Bah. No laughing matter, been smoking for 3 years now. Anyway, you can see how bad it is with lung cancer, etc.
Case in point, quit while it's still early, or DON'T START AT ALL.
Jeez. Four packs? I only smoke one if it's a "good" day.
addiction is all in your mind
go to rehab maybe?
This is an awful idea. It costs thousands to go to a rehabilitation centre, and the success rate is abysmal.

Smoke without the health issues!
I reckon that this is a good idea, although I'd like to emphasise that there are still health risks present, the main one being that you're still getting nicotine and will still be addicted.
I have been smoking for thee years and 6 months and I'm only 16. I have wanted to quit all the time this year, but I think I just don't have enough willpower, It's probably the nicotine messing my head but the feeling of the morning Marlboro feels so good. However It takes so much money and when I do sports then I get sputum and start coughing. And even If I could quit then I can't resist if I'm drunk.
Smoke a pipe instead. It'll be cheaper if you don't manage to quit. $3 an ounce at my local shoppe.
Some peoples lungs react heavily on some, most or all types of tobacco. They get infected and that's where your 'black' fluids come from (it's actually really dark brown).
I don't know what you're smoking, but if it's anything like Lucky Strike (the best!!), Marlboro and those kind of cigs, switch to "Light" versions. Those have less nicotine and will help you stopping eventually by slowly cutting back your intake of nicotine. You can also hit cigs like Kent, those have a really thick filter that give you a much lighter smoke, even if it's just as strong as Lucky Strike/Marlboro. Tastes like licorice, though.
You should go to the doctor for your throat. It's not normal. Also, it's not from smoking, but caused by smoking. If you stop smoking, your throat will continue to bitch and moan.
Try e-cigs. They're all the rage.
All of that tasty nicotine with none of that unwanted cancer-inducing tar!

I actually had an issue with that, and had to force myself to stop doing it so damn much at one point.
Fuck you if you think it's funny, because it's not.
Anyway OP, I don't know quite the extent of what you feel, but one time someone snuck me a couple cigarettes and after just 2 I was craving more of them for the next week, but thankfully I was never given any more.

It depends, once a day is normal for a teenager with hormones raging through your system doing silly things to your weener.
Oh, and those suggesting rehab can go fuck themselves. My dad tried to go to rehab for drinking once, and it was 10 grand so he could.
10 grand for 2 weeks and something like 10% success rate.
My merge man.
And yes, once a day is normal but not like 6 or 7 times :smith:
I got over that fairly easily though.

rude
Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Withdrawal of any drug sucks balls, and nicotine is no different.
You need to find people who will support you and keep you accountable while you attempt to quit.
Get the gum. Get the fake smokes. Quit. You'll be glad you did.
If you don't feel confident, try hypnotism, or even get some kind of professional help.
Hey dude, I'm an ex smoker used to go through 2 packs a day, I know how hard it is to quit I tried going cold turkey and lasted less than 2 days. Best thing I found was the e-ciggie works fucking wonders mate.
I got the N-joy for 20 bucks down at 7-11 so give it a try good luck dude.
I smoke, and I've broken a heroin addiction before, so lemme say, quitting smoking is no small feat. Never let anyone tell you that. At the moment, I find I don't smoke enough ciggs to be truly at the point I need to quit. Yeah, not great logic, but I've got too much stress to quit yet, give it a few years.
Though, I also smoke a fair bit of weed and have seen none of the negative effects of ciggs yet after 3 years.
Anyways, yeah, you can quit. You just gotta put some effort and heart into it, get help from people, even if it's shameful, no addiction can be broken easily. They all suck, they're all harsh. Get help, even on your own, you'll hate it, start chewing shitty gum or smoking e ciggs or something. You don't have to feel too bad, it's not like you got addicted to putting needles in your body.
For NORMAL facepunchers: Trying to stop smoking is as hard as trying to break your habits of fapping.
Take your smokes, throw it on the ground and step on it looking it angrily and say "I HATE SMOKES!"
I absolutely fucking hate how virtually everyone on facepunch says "durrr just stop smoking its not hard lamo"
you people have no idea what addiction is and have no first hand experience.
whats so good about smoking it anyway?
i tried it and theres nothing special about it
Honestly? just quit. it is very hard, but you learn a lot of self control. When I did this I would have to find another way to release stress. Sometimes it was working out, running, punching a bag, or evan just yelling and screaming when your alone. it's very hard, but it is worth it.
Eat pancakes.
My mommy smoked. Then she got pregnant with me and got sick. She was like "Fuck you cigarettes" :downs:
Perhaps, but Facepunch does to a lot of those "no fap _____" whatevers, which could motivate some people to ween themselves off of it slightly.
Oh shit. I forgot to report my failure in one of those. I can be Barry Bonds* now.
If I could break my addiction to oxycotin, you can break yours with tobacco. Good luck.
The first reply was helpful, you've just to have the will to quit, and never start again. Look at the benefits, think about your family. Professional help is going to be your best bet if you can't do it alone. Have someone watch your money so you can't buy cigarettes.

You must not understand addiction then. The habit creeps up on you, until its all you think about. You crave it, it physically can hurt. I can't even describe the misery addiction brings.
whats so good about smoking it anyway?

I don't smoke, I do chewing tobacco, but I can tell you this: nicotine relieves stress. While this might not seem like a big deal, when you start getting into the habit of using it, it becomes very clear to you you're relying on it. It's not even necessarily the headaches and shit that comes with not using whatever you're addicted to either that may stop you from doing it, it might just be that you're so used to it you get a nagging feeling that you need to, like that of what you'd have with brushing your teeth every day, just like a natural impulse.
That's why it's hard to quit. It's not necessarily a lack of willpower, it's just hard to fight your brain sometimes.
I cough up black fluids daily
Whoa, what the fuck, that doesn't tend to happen with smoking until decades of continual use!
At this point, quiting smoking isn't fix the problem.
If you are not full of shit, and you really are coughing up black fluids daily, SEE A FUCKING DOCTOR YOU FUCKING IDIOT!. That you haven't makes me wonder if you're just making things up.

E-cigs also help quit smoking. It's not as good, because it doesn't have the MAOi that tobacco has (which effectively makes things more pleasurable and addictive), but it has the nicotine. The action of smoking is as close as you'll ever get.
They helped me quit smoking (though I enjoy it thoroughly, so I smoke one or two cigarettes a day now).

I've been smoking for three years now.
It took me a year to try and quit. That first time was successful. Then a week later I started smoking again and I haven't been able to quit ever since.
At least once every couple months, I try and quit. The simple fact is this shit is more addictive than a LOT of other shit (coke withdrawals aren't as bad, fyi).
