North Jersey isn't even that bad, and all of the bad parts are bad because of their proximity to NYC. Oh, and isn't Philadelphia's news really bad? I remember going to Atlantic City a year or two ago and it was pathetic compared to New York's news programming.
I'm about 17 miles from the City as the crow flies, and it's actually not that bad here. I mean, I've got Patterson and Newark within spitting distance, but I've also got Montclair and Caldwell just near me. Then again, my town is all rich, white people. Also, PIX11 and WABC master race.

My ex lives in Paterson. May have a slight influence on my disagreement with that region. But then again, your traffic is too deadly for me.
I have a story about Paterson. So before we moved to Whitetown NJ, home of racial profiling, we lived in Paterson. My dad worked in the inner city as a janitor for one of the schools. This school, according to my dad, was like fucking Lean on Me with the chaining of doors and such (side note: my dad worked with Slappy. He said he was pretty chill). So one day doing what one does at an inner city school my dad saw these two big kids beating up this little kid. Being the nice person he is he stops the fight and waits with the kid and walks him to his dad's car etc etc. So the next day my dad's sweeping up shell casings from a drive by or whatever you do in Paterson's inner city and this big white Bentley rolls up and this big black guy with dreads opens the window and beckons my dad over. And -- since you can't say no to a big black guy in a white Bentley in the middle of inner city Paterson -- my dad goes up to him. My dad's proceeds to get profusely thanked by this guy for saving his nephew and he wants to make it up to my dad. The guy points to one of the high rise tenements out on the skyline and goes "You see that apartment over there? I supply all the drugs in that. If you need anything just go to the penthouse and say you know me." And of course my dad's like what the fuck. The guy goes "if you need anything, just go to that penthouse and say you know my. My name is T-Bone, Like the Steak. Just go there and say 'I know T-Bone, Like the Steak' and they'll do anything." And then he drove off in his mysterious cloud of cocaine and steak. A few minutes later a big white guy pulls my dad aside and starts yelling at him for talking to T-Bone. Turns out there were like 4 undercover cops -- white guy included -- tracking him and wanted to make sure he wasn't buying drugs. And that's the story of how I know T-Bone, Like the Steak. [sp]who is probably dead or at Riker's Island or both[/sp] Side note: Dad met Joe Louis Clark. Said he was a complete dick.
Lean on Me was amazing imo. hawhaM represent. We have a collage here, sure its a community collage but its still a collage. We also have a bunch of rich white kids who are complete assholes. [sp]Brap brap boi[/sp]
Anyone else here in New Jersey go to Rowan University?
Anyone else in Ithaca, New York?

THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN DAMN COMMIE LIBERAL YANKS!
THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN DAMN COMMIE LIBERAL YANKS!
The more I think about it, the more I realize that South Jersey (barring the shoreline area) is very much more like the American South than the "yankee" north.
Ahaha the mayor of Harrisburg said "We're not opening up our flood gates for, you know, some scumbag that comes from Perry County who got the money and pocketed it, and comes here and wants to dump it for free." and now everyone on my Facebook is flipping their shit http://www.abc27.com/story/21811972/mayor-receives-backlash-for-scumbag-from-perry-co-comment
The more I think about it, the more I realize that South Jersey (barring the shoreline area) is very much more like the American South than the "yankee" north.
Don't they like the [del]Cowboys[/del] Cowgirls down there?
Don't they like the [del]Cowboys[/del] Cowgirls down there?
There's quite a number of Cowboy fans around here, but Eagle fans are always the majority (until it's clear they're going to lose, then everyone swears they were always a Giants or Colts fan) Personally, my family is from Pittsburgh so we worship the Steelers as if they were the Twelve Disciples.

[editline]29th March 2013[/editline] Spring weather begins. Travailing between Wyckoff and Mahwah it was raining, hailing, just cloudy, and sunny as all hell.
You are now the closes known FP'er to me.
Right on the Delaware
Right on the Delaware
If you've gone to the Deptford Mall, which everyone in the region has done I'm sure, then there's a chance we've met.
So I'm going to Drexel University next year. Still in the Northeast for college. Thought I would escape the fucking weather.
Hey, New Jersey folk, you know what I hate? Fucking Garden State Plaza. Well, besides the movie theater. But that mall is basically just swag
Where in NJ do you live again? I've always found myself going up to Palisades Center. Although if I can I would go to Suffern to go see a movie.
I live in Cumberland County.
