Unless you plan on starting your own business, inventing something, or doing something else that doesn't require an education for the job you're good. But if you ever want to advance in a business yes you do. Also, think about it, if programmers were in such high demand to make 100k a year every FP'er would be millionaires.
You definitely need to get a degree in business administration. [editline]08:18PM[/editline]
Oh yes of course I'm sure that Zombiefreak is the next billionaire
lol I doubt that I'll make that much. As I said, I have the chance of being a billionaire. The other side of it is I'd have to move in with my parents because I would have wasted all of my money on research.

I mean, yeah, classes always help, but usually you either have the stones for it or you don't. Stop being vague, what the fuck are you on about?
They don't call it a B.S for nothing. Joking aside, college is great for people who are going to use it, on the other hand, if you don't complete it it's a tremendous waste of money and time. Just got to weigh the benefits.
In the job market, it used to be that a college education would set you apart. Now, only a PHD will set you above the bar, and not having a college degree will pretty much mean you'll be ignored at any respectable job you could apply to.

For many professions, it's a necessity. I think it's a good thing to avoid. With the economy in such a shitty state, I feel lucky to avoid the debt. Some people have $100k+ that they're going to work to pay back for the rest of their lives. Slavery. Of course, if you land an upper-class job that you can keep & advance in, that won't be too much of a problem, but the idea that college is a one-way ticket to wealth is false.

"University of Nevada - The University of Nevada-Reno and University of Nevada-Las Vegas both cost about $3500 in tuition and fees."

My bachelor's degree will cost me around $24k (which is among the highest in Canada).
let the thread author go no where in life. he still doesn't get it.
You definitely need to get a degree in business administration.
Starting a business is more balls than brains. Though you need both, balls are always needed when starting out.

But a lot of people do end up with that kind of debt (just google '100k student loan debt' and you'll find tons of people bitching about how they're doomed). Some people manage to build up 150-200k of debt, which is just ridiculous. Studying law or medical are easy ways to become a debt-slave.
I'm going to California Polytechnic University of Pomona for about $4500 a year and will graduate with an electrical engineering degree. Its also rated in the top 20 (I believe 15th) engineering school in the nation. http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm Remember, a single case study proves nothing. in almost all cases education is directly related to how much money you will make.

College or University are VERY important. To learn is to grow in wisdom and understanding of the world is to not be a retard.

Good luck.

If you can't easily study it otherwise, then absolutely, in all other cases, then absolutely. I want to study Ichthyology.
Of course they use it. Uni education extends what you learn at High School in job specific areas. Like Medicine for science, accounting for Book Keepers ect [editline]09:03PM[/editline]
I'm not saying it's the average. It's the upper end. 2 people are looking for a job. Who would logicly get the job, if one of them has far more knowledge then the other? It's a silly question, is it not?
I say no because it really depends on what type of career you plan on going into. Why would you go to a college when you can go to a career school that costs less?
I kind of agree but that pretty much sounds like an excuse made by people who can do well at school but don't because they are too lazy.
<---- but my point still stands, you do not need to be intelligent to have good grades. In the classes that I enjoyed, I applied myself in. I had great grades with minimal effort for those select few classes. If I didn't like a class, I just couldn't bring myself to try hard. As I said, I've seen people both intelligent, and very unintelligent have good grades. Grades are earned through consistency. It's only beneficial if you have the motivation.

As far as I'm concerned, it's been worth it so far for me; To learn a wide gamut of skills in a safe, mistake-friendly atmosphere is a great way to develop abilities.
Yes. On average a college educated person makes a million dollars more in their lifetime than they would have had they not gone to college.
Or you could just work in a trade you enjoy for 6 or 7 years more than a college educated person and make up that million.
If somebody's paying $100k to go to uni there's something wrong. Both schools are very very cheap compared to many other universities in the country.

I have to choose what I wanna become within the next 6 days, and I dont know where to start.
