Also OP, I get the same issue, only mine doesn't get as far as calling 999, it just drags all my widgets out onto my desktop some how.
I'm going to get an iPhone 3GS soon, so unless I have a human hand in my pocket it can't do anything because it's only sensitive to living tissue.
turn your goddamn key lock on its made for a reason
plus i want the samsung omnia
is it any good?
Call a priest and perform an exorcism.
Simples.
Get a case for you phone, or just put it aside like that one person said.
Have an 8 or something dialled at all times so the phone can press all the buttons it wants without having to worry about it calling an emergency service.
Stop putting the phone in your back pocket?

Well the button calls 911 it's not like you press call and then press 911.
Break and remove the power button, so the only way you can turn it on is by plugging the charger in.
I have a lady named 'Granny' constantly call me.
Even though I always tell her it's the wrong number.

Once for a year this drunk chick called me 3 times an hour every day so i called the cops and haven't heard from her since. Felt kinda bad it was probably some really poor person that didn't have a job and they're probably in jail now.
I get home from school, pull my phone out of my backpack, I have three new contacts with numbers along the lines of 38518**3288*83#####289599999999999999

proof?

I rip the battery out so the police don't call back and get all pissy.
That's a horrible idea, then they become alarmed and think something did happen.

Don't feel bad.
I have a droid, and it does this. Which it shouldn't because it has a lock button and a touchscreen.
Well, it hasn't actually dialed 911 yet thankfully, but several times I've taken it out of my pocket to see "85493#1320895*34#27405 is not an emergency number!"
got me one of these

My dad has an issue with a Mexican furniture company that constantly calls him.
My phone pocket dialed 911 while I was brushing my teeth. Aparently keyguard doesn't block out the number 9 for some reason, and 11 was pressed aswell somehow
It isn't blocked because "9" is the beginning of the number for emergency services. Even home phones that have no service from any phone companies still have the ability to call 911. The phone world has done quite a few things just to make it so you can call 911 with ease, instead of having to press a bunch of buttons.

What do they ask for?

Best phone ever. I also have Pokemon Blue on it.
Jesus christ I've got an env1 and I've never had this problem. Once it gets locked that ok button never gets pressed twice.
Just get a hard-case for your phone. Might look stupid - but would you rather look stupid with a case, or stupid with the cops?

This bitch was absolutely crap for pocket dialing :frown:
Called my mum when I was talking about sex with my mate.
Damn you recent calls!
Cant you just lock the phone? Stops a lot of BS calls going through, especially in class.
I'm voting a case (like other people in this thread), or putting it on the table during class (like other people have said).
After reading this thread I just typed 911 onto my phone's keyboard while locked to see what would happen and it auto dialed :S
