Games for people who wish to be intellectual or are clinically retarded would be a much better title.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt warhammer just rely on the luck of the dice? I'd say the same about monopoly
Somewhat, but tactics play a large part. What Canuhearme? Said about monopoly can be applied to Warhammer somewhat (altough the dice is what decides, tactics will help you a lot).
1. Some guy shitting in a cup while a nuke is going off far away.
Ahahahahahahahaha.
Well, besides chess:
I love a rousing round of "Finish off the castle the other guy spent five turns building and take all the points for it"
Magic: The Gathering is awesome. I have heard EVE online is something of a thinking man's game, although I have never played it. [editline]04:45PM[/editline]
Same with me. Everyone I know plays Magic and D&D. Like half our school plays either one of those.
Lucky sod. I love them both, but no one fucking plays them! [editline]05:00PM[/editline] Also: Cry Havok/Siege
Let me guess, you consider yourself one of those smart people OP
I lose always in all "smart" games... Am I dumbfuck?
Card games like pokemon are retarded. I have heard about people trading THEIR TV AND COMPUTERS for ONE very PITY SHITTY CARD. I wouldnt give a cent for that stupid piece of cardboard.
Fix'ed as magic isn't a twelve year old game, this shit started card games, then card games got raided by a shitstorm of games made for five year olds.
in Serious Sam you kill all the guys to win. ANd sometiems you get kill by big monster wif rokets.
Eat my long hard dick computer, I just beat you at GO GAME!
Let me guess, you consider yourself one of those smart people OP
Well I consider myself bright, even though I'm not the best at those games. I just put those games down because they're complex and can/do require thinking. Not like Halo or something where it's just shoot shoot shoot. Magic was a very complex game for its time, and it still is when you put enough thought into the deck instead of making a really straightforward big creatures deck. That can easily be maneuvered around. The thread title's a bit of an exaggeration, maybe, but so is everything else on Facepunch. I wanted to make a list of strategic thinking games/puzzlers. Those three happen to be my favorites.
Magic doesn't require thinknig, it requires a heavy wallet.
Magic doesn't require thinknig, it requires a heavy wallet.
That's why you just play with the pre built "theme decks" that are (supposedly) equal but differant; that way it is just about tactics as everyone is at the same level cards wise.
Fucking snakes and ladders!
I OWN at S&L!!! :q:
I love Magic, and would play more Risk if anyone would play with me. :( The local card/comic/manga/actionfigures/RC cars/boardgames store has Carrasonne, with 5 expansions. I'm going to get it sometime. There needs to be a M:TG meg-- I mean informative thread, I might even make it.
I've never had a thread of mine bumped this much before:v:
My white flying deck would kick all of your asses
I wouldn't really say Portal is for smart people, but this Magic seems pretty cool.
Dumb people hate Portal. Therefore, it must be a game for smart people.
Valve had to dumb down their puzzles. People have made pretty good maps, and the concept has a lot of potential for real mind fuckers.
Links to some good maps?
I'm trying to convince a friend to get into Magic with me so we're both starting on a level playing field. Right now all he does is play Yu-Gi-Oh! with his family and a few other guys.
Seriously, the Myst series are one of the few games out there where you actually have to take good notes and use some serious logic in order to beat it without a walkthrough.
That's so true! I have a notebook lying around of all the notes I took. I also still know the first 25 Dn'i numbers.
I used to play magic, I'm pretty sure i have my cards around somewhere. I found them. I had a grave danger deck. Paper tiger, rock lobster and scisor lizard were the best fuckin cards, Also, my other favourite card.

The city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. Also, thirded Dwarf Fortress.
