Except for the 'game world = real world" part, it seems like an upscaled minecraft.
This is pretty impressive. Impossible, but impressive.
There isn't even a proof of concept, this is just words...

What if, what if, what if. It would be cool. But it's not going to happen
If it ever does get made, it'll be like Spore in that every element is there, but its all really basic and just poorly done.
The Spore shown at E3 was very different... [T]http://sae.tweek.us/static/images/emoticons/frown.gif[/T]
Reminds me of Archeage. Though it's a fantasy setting with an emphasis on player building and settling. No short video really explains that really well, but the Yogscast had a run on it that hit most of everything.
Assuming it ever gets into any sort of playable state, there'd be far too many players to look after and the game would be far from stable. There'd be people exploiting the system left and right to the point where it's no fun for the real players.
I think the only way this would be possible is through the use of something like a VR simulator, like the one in Star Trek. Then again I hear that the moment that is perfected and made, Mankind will possibly end.
Gentlemen, I regret to inform you all that this project has succeeded, and you're all in it right now.
For the first 40 seconds I was convinced it would be like "There is a game like that, it's called being alive," or something like that.
First 40 seconds I thought they were talking about eve online.
I often think of such games being a reality ... In a few years A very impressive and amazing idea for game but completely fucking impossible with modern tech So short thoughts on this project insanity
It's a 2D isometric game, not some fullscale 3D world :v:
Well that's not nearly as interesting to be honest
He is really not the first guy to come up with that concept, hell, i think i have thought about it too. I was just smart enough that this couldnt happen, its impossible as of now. Or it would require a LOT of work, therefore the budget to make this kind of a game could be much larger than the profits. Maybe one way would be buying a lot of licenses rather than making the whole thing from scratch. A supercomputer somewhere could take care of the worldwide happenings, while your PC could take care of only the stuff that happens around you.
I just wish there would be a decent-looking WW2 simulator ala Battlegrounds Europe with Project Reality Squadsystems with good A.I that will take place of your squadmates if a player quits from your squad. You can give orders to your A.I buddies and such. Hell, I would be just happy with Battlegrounds Europe with the squad system of BF2 thrown in, because right now making a tight-knit cooperation is impossible because your buddies always have to spawn kilomete away.
No.
The opposite of No.
Oh god on their website.
Show your support in this pre-kickstarter campaign and help make this a reality!

please donate so they can start a kickstarter for their kickstarter

You probably know this thing http://i.imgur.com/lUFxj.jpg This is how small those worlds are compared to the real life thing http://i.imgur.com/f0gDb.jpg Better start mapping.

I don't think they plan on mapping the cities themselves, they seem to want the users do make them Random generation of mountains, plains, deserts, etc. would be very possible
That what I was thinking are people so unsatisfied with their lives they seek to recreate the entirety of what life is, in a video game?
It is actually possible that is EXACTLY what WE are. Someones recreation of life, ask any scientist.
This was posted months ago and ever since then nothing happened to it other than posting a FAQ. This is nothing more than a concept art that looks like its from diablo 1 or age of empires 1, a video narrated by a guy with deep voice with nothing but stickman pictures and the ideas of every 15 year old gamer. These guys dont even have a proper website or anything and they are already asking for money. Its either a scam or these guys are really dumb. And those saying "Well what is the point of this its like real life" So what? I'd really play a game like this and im sure many others would too to escape real life. That is the whole point of these games, to escape real life.
Wasn't it called Outerra or something http://www.outerra.com/
Ah, well remembered!
ಠ_ಠ
I hope you have about a thousand generations to play.
Wouldn't it be awfully boring and lonely to have an earth-sized game map?
Assuming everyone's spawning in a different place, it would take months to even find another player. There just isn't enough people willing to play something like this.
If only this was true, which it isn't
I cant wait playing it for years before my character can legally buy vitual drink.
