Human Nature/Family of Blood still remain my favourite story!
I could not agree more. It was pretty much the only story I really liked in Series 3, the finale was okay but.. Eh.
Blink wins Series 3 for me
Blink wins Series 3 for me
Aye. The Angels are a lot like the Boos from the Super Mario games, as in they move when you don't look at them, although the Boos aren't as scary as the Angels.
is it bannable to list proxies? if not can somebody give me a link to whatever they are using to watch the bbc iplayer
I heard the BBC blocks most (if not all proxies). I was wondering if someone could stream it? :D
I heard the BBC blocks most (if not all proxies). I was wondering if someone could stream it? :D
Sure, lemme see if I can stream BBC iPlayer. Imma do a test in a minute.
BBC hasn't blocked the one I'm using. And just use it for a moment to get onto the page, then click the download link and wait 20 or so minutes for the episode to download so that you don't have to worry about buffering issues.
I won't bother streaming, the quality is awful. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/icemaz-super-duper-awesome-serial-show see :v:
More than likely she is playing another person, and is not Tosh. Just like Freema Agyeman played a Torchwood secretary in Army of Ghosts, and later in season 3 became the companion.
I loved the explanation they gave for that - "Oh, she's her cousin."
i suppose i will just "download" it in the morning
I bought the soundtracks to season 3 and 4 to celebrate.
I've managed to more or less finish my game idea. Anyone wanna hear it?
Go for it.
After quite some effort, here's the details about my Doctor Who game idea. (Alert: masses of text) Well, it's kind of an "adventure game", with a storyline concerning an enemy of the Doctor from WAY back, the "Master Brain Computer" from the Second Doctor episode The Mind Robber. For information on that episode, here's the BBC's synopsis of the episode. http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/mindrobber/detail.shtml In terms of gameplay, it varies greatly in genre between the levels, with puzzles, stealth, racing and arcade-style gameplay being just a few of the types of gameplay encountered, but maintains a basic RPG style of gameplay at its core, which I will elaborate on later. Concerning the game's plot, after recovering from its defeat many years ago, the MBC captures a writer for a certain British sci-fi series from another universe (basically stealing one of the writers for Doctor Who), and uses him as the creative source for the Land of Fiction, similar to the role that the Master of the Land of Fiction played in The Mind Robber. However, the MBC has even greater plans this time around, intending to expand the Land of Fiction across the entirety of reality (similar to the Skasis Paradigm, but on an even greater scale), and requires a very powerful logical mind to work in conjunction with the writer. It chooses the Doctor for this purpose, and manages to track him down again, trapping him and the TARDIS within the Land of Fiction via a "context-sensitive" hole in the Time Vortex. Unable to escape due to the TARDIS engines being constantly stalled by the power of Fiction, the Doctor hatches a rather interesting plan, one that forms the premise of the game. It would be too risky for him to leave the TARDIS, as the MBC would definitely capture him, so he reluctantly decides to send his companion, Amy Pond, into the Land of Fiction to find a way to unplug the writer (who for naming's sake is Stephen Moffat) from the MBC, destroying the Land of Fiction in the process, and freeing the TARDIS. He keeps in contact via a telepathic communication device, kind of serving as an advisory character, and once Amy steps out of the TARDIS into the Land of Fiction, the game begins. The Land of Fiction is comprised of a form of psychic quasi-matter called "Fictionessence", which serves as the main "attribute" for the game, serving as both health and energy. When used in conjunction with thoughts or memories (notably those of the Doctor), it can create changes in the Land of Fiction, most notably changing Amy herself. Basically, Fictionessence can transform Amy into former companions and allies of the Doctor, derived from the Doctor's memories, in a way kind of similar to Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, where you could transform between Trevor Belmont and one of the three other player characters (Sypha, Grant, Alucard), although the transformative powers could be compared more to Megaman in a way, as in each "Companion" would have their own special abilities. For example, when playing as Mrs Moore (the lady from the parallel universe who was part of The Preachers), the player can use electromagnetic bombs, which are highly-effective at disabling mechanical enemies such as Cybermen, Smilers, Daleks, etc, whereas playing as Mickey gives the player a boost to their ability to hack machines and solve puzzles, due to Mickey's expert computer skills. Whilst starting out with a small "roster" of characters initially, the amount of playable characters increases as the game progresses including, but not limited to, Captain Jack Harkness, River Song, Martha Jones, Jenny (The Doctor's Daughter), Ace (one of the girls who helped the 7th Doctor, uses Nitro-9 to blow things up), and even the Master at higher levels (has the evil crazy lightning powers of evil craziness from The End of Time, but at a high cost of Fictionessence). As you progress through the game, you accumulate Fictionessence, but you have a cap on the maximum you can accumulate, which increases during gameplay. As well as Fictionessence, the player also accumulates "Experience", which makes the selected character level-up once enough is obtained for it, with each level up increasing the maximum amount of Fictionessence that character can carry, as well as the amount Amy can carry. As well as Fictionessence boosts, the player also gains skill points to invest in character abilities, such as decreasing the time it takes for Captain Jack to resurrect, increasing the firepower of Jackson Lake's infostamp attacks, increasing the amount of time you can exist as the near-omnipotent Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf, etc. Speaking of Rose, she's the final unlockable character, the ultimate character and the most powerful in the game with practically costless ominpotent powers, but you can only exist as her for a short time due to this form rapidly draining your Fictionessence (a nod to how she would end up destroying herself from the power at the end of The Parting of The Ways). Upgrading her duration of existence is VITAL if you want to win the final boss battle quickly. When playing through the game, you are vulnerable to damage, which lowers your Fictionessence bar. When it reaches zero, the player reverts back to Amy. If it reaches zero as Amy, the game is over. Each character has their own Fictionessence bar, but Amy's is the most important one to increase, as she is the central character for transformations. To accumulate Fictionessence and Experience, you must complete objectives, solve puzzles, defeat enemies, etc, and you also generate it as Amy whilst moving, although you don't gain experience from running around. After a certain number of level-ups with a specific set of characters, a new set of characters will become available for play, which each "tier" being slighty more powerful than the last. For example, after accumulating 5 level-ups through playing Mickey, Mrs Moore and Martha, you unlock the tier above, and need to accumulate 6 level ups with the characters of the new set in order to unlock the tier above that one. The game world is more-or-less freeroam to an extent, with many different themed zones to fight in/solve puzzles in/complete tasks in, and the final boss zone being unlocked upon unlocking the Final Tier, putting Rose into play, but it's best to level up Rose's Duration quite a bit before going on to fight the Master Brain Computer and Stephen Moffat. You can fight the final bosses with the slightly-lesser characters (The Master, River Song, K-9, etc), but it'd be harder than fighting them as Rose. In terms of puzzles, there are several different kinds of puzzles, such as medical puzzles (Martha's specialty), hacking puzzles (Mickey's best for them), etc, with the latter being good for unlocking undiscovered areas. Asides from puzzles, there are many enemies to fight, be they monsters, robots, aliens, etc, with different characters being specialised in taking down certain types (Mrs Moore counters robots, Ace's Nitro-9 is the only thing that can harm the Weeping Angels, Captain Jack has his classic revolver for taking down aliens, and the Master's energy powers basically counter pretty much everything except Weeping Angels) So all in all, it's a Doctor Who freeroam RPG with Mega Man-style character transformations, puzzles to solve, places to explore, enemies to beat, and an awful lot of running to do. It's only really an idea for college, and the idea isn't fully refined yet, so if you have any ideas for improvement, just say the word. Also, i'm toying with the potential for cooperative gameplay, like there being multiple players to play together online.
Is it first or third person? If it's first person, instead of the telepathic device, you could use that contact-lens thing in Children of Earth for the Doctor to send messages to Amy. Although I don't quite think that only having one character in the game would be that fun - surely it'd be more fun for the characters themselves to be conjured up into being by the Doctor's imagination, rather than transforming Amy? It'd probably be more entertaining for the players to see the characters interact with Amy. Perhaps a blank sheet, sort of like the Ghosts in the second series' second from last episode, could follow Amy around, and you could switch characters in a Lego *insert theme* game style? It could be cool for there to be other sections based on different themes from the previous series... Like, perhaps the Doctor could have just stopped the MBC from completely ensnaring him in some sort of telekinetic field or something, and the whole of the Land of Fiction could have been rebuilt from the joint memories of the Doctor and the Writer..? Just some ideas, probably not that good but I thought I might as well say something.
Answer 1: It'd be third-person, so you could truly see who you were playing as. Besides, the contact lenses were more Torchwood than Doctor Who. Answer 2: Well, it's not really one character: Amy's just the "basic" character that you use to access the other characters. Although if there were a cooperative multiplayer function, there'd probably be other base characters, like "basic AI projections" generated by the TARDIS that could serve a similar function alongside Amy, transforming into the other characters as well. Answer 3: The sections would be based on the memories of the writer, who worked on the recent series', so locales would range across the recent series', from Satellite Five to New New York to Pompeii to Bowie Base One and all those things inbetween. Also, the telekinetic field is an interesting concept, probably could be used to stop the MBC from harming the TARDIS. Also, how long have we got 'till the next episode?
Also, how long have we got 'till the next episode?
About 35 minutes.
Indeed. Also, did you read my video game concept? I think it's pretty decent or at least itneresting.
What does FPTV use to stream? If there is a way to stream it for free without paying anything I can do it tonight after it has been on TV for all American Who-fans. Tried Livestream but the frame rate was rubbish.
Indeed. Also, did you read my video game concept? I think it's pretty decent or at least itneresting.
I kinda skipped past it at first, but I'll go back and check it out now. That's actually pretty interesting. The whole transforming to previous companions and allies reminded me of that game, "The Great Dungeon in the Sky". Was that in your mind when you came up with the idea, or is it just a coincidence? Also, JESUS CHRIST WHEN WILL TOTAL WIPEOUT END? I CAN FEEL MY BRAIN CELLS DYING ALREADY GAGGJJGHGD
Someone could stream it from http://www.tvguide.co.uk/tv_channel_streams.asp

Besides, I drew inspiration from Mega Man and Castlevania 3 for the companion shifting. 15 minutes left 'till episode. Best get ready. ironman17 out.

Fuck off total wipeout, move along for real programs!
Fuck off total wipeout, move along for real programs!
What is your avatar mouthing? I've seen the episode before, but hell if I can remember it. [editline]06:30PM[/editline] OH SHI- It's on.

Woah he seems to think that Amy should remember the Daleks.
I'm already scared of the Dalek's. :( [editline]07:37PM[/editline]
Woah he seems to think that she should remember the Daleks.
she should, they like invaded earth in one of the specials
Hmmm She wasn't at the Dalek invasion :S
Woah he seems to think that she should remember the Daleks.
As Marlamin said, they completely invaded Earth, and the whole planet was stolen...
