Maybe not shorter then, but they have that whole chunky/fat thing going on, for sure.
They do, but that adds to their image. If they were just taller it would've looked stupid. I think the new designs are really good and suiting for the daleks.
they're shorter and more colourful, how the fuck is that more imposing/scary, I bet you're scared of power rangers
That's part of their charm. Also this is nothing new; there have been plenty of different coloured daleks throughout the show's run. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek_variants
I heard they were shorter to match Matt Smith's eye level?
I saw something about that, thought they were going to be shorter, but looking at them in the show they seemed a bit taller.
The new ones look a lot more like the original daleks:
The new ones are the old ones, the other darleks in this episode are not as pure

You know, the ugly ones that nobody likes.
The colours represent ranks and jobs aparently with these new ones. [editline]07:43PM[/editline] White = Supreme Red = Drone Yellow = Eternal? Blue = Second in command?
Go Go Dalek Rangers!
Your chance to become the Doctor (said at the end) does that mean he is going after this series? Also pretty good episode
No you play the video games.
Haha Top Gear theme as they practice driving the new Daleks on Confidential :v:
And no, they resemble the Peter Cushing Daleks. You know, the ugly ones that nobody likes.
I was merely saying they no longer have those bars in the centre like the old new ones did:
I don't like how the new ones have a hunchback.
I was merely saying they no longer have those bars in the centre like the old new ones did:
Well the RTD era daleks weren't the first to have the slats. These new ones are clearly based on the Peter Cushing Daleks, what with that huge tire looking base
I saw something about that, thought they were going to be shorter, but looking at them in the show they seemed a bit taller.
Matt Smith is actually quite tall. You see him ducking to avoid smacking himself on the cabinet ceilings a few times.
Yeah they were made taller so they would be at eye level with him.
Great episode, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not the type to delve into the canon and such, I just watch it.
That's part of their charm. Also this is nothing new; there have been plenty of different coloured daleks throughout the show's run. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalek_variants
Yeah, I'm well aware. I've seen plenty of old Dalek stories and both Dalek movies. I love the movie variant, but I don't like the new new variant.
NeoDement, if you don't like the new Doctor Who at all, why do you even post here? Do you just enjoy whining?
I keep hoping it will be good, just like Season 4 had a few shining moments. And the Waters of Mars was simply fantastic. I'm optimistic, deal with it.
(I wrote a longer thing but there was an error) I think the new series is in another dimension, the Tardis possibly fell through when it was damaged. I've noticed that Amy doesn't remember the masses of invasions and at the start of the first episode the Tardis flew over the Millenium Dome, showing it was present day, and then nearly hit Big Ben, which was destroyed by the crashing decoy ship in the Ecclestone series. Not to mention the historical changes during WW2 which would have been mentioned before. (Haven't finished watching the new episode though.)
...and then nearly hit Big Ben, which was destroyed by the crashing decoy ship in the Ecclestone series.
You do know they fixed it.

The Zeppelins?
They probably rebuilt the clock tower.
Big Ben is the bell inside.
Big Ben is the bell inside.
You're still a virgin, aren't you?
What were the historical changes during WW2? The Zeppelins?
You know, Daleks being there.
You're still a virgin, aren't you?
No, I'm just really anal.
That mark in time will have something to do with the Finale, I think Daleks are going to return for the finale.
You know, Daleks being there.
Well it's not the first time the Daleks have done this. Y'know, hijacked the timeline.
Well it's not the first time the Daleks have done this. Y'know, hijacked the timeline.
As I recall, they enslaved the earth in the 22nd century, but I'm not sure if that is canon. Also, I think this is an absolutely genius move to have Amy forget. Remember in "Dalek"? that episode was shown to be in 2012, but no one in the base knows what a dalek is, even though the whole word was invaded in 2008 (or 2009 I forget). Fixing canon by breaking canon, genius.
