The slower, dumber, dead variety. In the event of a one-on-one, I would really prefer not to be chased out of breath. Also, melee weapons become a real option.
In the event of zombie apocalypse, the first place i'm going to is a Coscto. They have everything except guns.

First place I'm going to is a public school.
Big building, easy to blockade, and a cafe.
A mall would be a epic place, but the windows make it a bad place, also, Dead Rising.
I can shoot a moving target the size of a bowling with my civilian m16 at 50 yards consistently with no problems. If you are an experienced marksmen, it really is no problem. It just comes down to how much ammo you have. And while the undead outnumber the living in a slow zombie apocalypse, they don;t outnumber the amount of bullets the army has.
Static calm target range accuracy =/= Live dynamic under threat accuracy.
Fuck late to this thread, but I must say sprinters are a lot scarier. The fact that they are more "realistic" makes it more spooky. Just the way they convulse and jitter around freaks me out. Also the fact that they are fast. One of those fuckers barreling at you screaming all creepy as fuck looking.

Them GODDAMN Eyes.
Slow zombies = Psychological terror, tactics required.
Fast zombies = "Oh fuck I'm being chased by this fast mother-fucking zombie I better run like hell for god knows how long." type of terror.

You're not supposed to go where everyone else is...

And how do you know everyone else isn't fleeing to their own homes, thinking that the army will come pouncing in and save the day and not actually thinking with their heads?
Also, this is why you get there first and block it off so no one can get in, and let no one in.

How do you know they aren't doing both? There is a fuckton of people that will be pretty much everywhere doing god knows what.
I highly doubt that you'll get there first, be able to board it up and secure it, and maintain it. Good luck though.
I personally think the shambling ones are scarier, simply because of the major psychological effect of millions of dead corpses (and because i read World War Z).
In reality though, i think a combination of sprinters and shamblers are more likely. In reality, if a zombie-like virus were to become reality (say a mutation of rabies?), which i may add is actually possible, although highly unlikely, they would probably be a combination of sprinters and shamblers, due to the fact that different people have different levels of dexterity, wounds, and think of a downs-syndrome zombie.
The thing that scares me the most is not "which zombie is scarier", but rather that, although highly unlikely, i can see how a mutated parasite or virus being capable of producing delusional zombie people.
I love slow zombies because they are great enemies I mean, look at Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 because they were slow but still hard to defeat. Now fast zombies are quite easier to kill since one shot just sends most of em fly about 2 or 3 feet while slow zombies just go back at you.

Oh and wait a minute what about animals? would they get infected and become shamblers or sprinters I mean like wolves and dogs because they might be accustomed to dead/kinda-alive human flesh? Which may in turn help kill zombies but this also may cause animals to hunt uninfected humans and kill them for food. This also may help this thread because movies never use dogs, cats, and other animals because they usually use birds.

I really hope not.... zombie people are bad enough :psypop:

Their bodies can't handle the infection, so they just die.
In Max Brooks "The Zombie Survival Guide" It says that, and that animals can naturally sense zombies so they'd flee anyways. But I doubt an animal would be able to get bit and escape, and eating something that came in contact with the infection would just kill them, so it's really unlikely.
So if a zombie virus is to exist, you shouldn't have to worry about zombie dogs and getting attacked by hordes of undead crows.
Faster are scarier IMHO. I dont think i could take slow zombies seriously after seeing Shaun of the Dead

Read World War Z. Then you'll take them seriously.
