I'm not saying there should be a revolution, at least not too violent of one. But if there ever was a full on war level revolution in my life time I'd love to be a part of the resistance. I've always hoped for something major to happen close to me in my life at least once, it's always across the nation or across the world.
Why does a revolution need to be violent? Take part in a social revolution.
Why does a revolution need to be violent? Take part in a social revolution.
The venus project anyone?
Obama has always been only "better than the other guy."
I have trouble taking anything MadPro says seriously
The venus project anyone?
the venus project isn't supposed to be a 'revolution' of any kind; the transition to post-scarcity is a natural one that will only work if it is not forced upon everyone. it's designed to be a set of concepts, ideas that are practical and can work in time, to lay the foundation for further improvements/innovation. jacque fresco admits himself that within the next 100 or so years his views will be outdated, it's more of a scientific thing.
Why wont the people of America revolt? Are they too afraid to lose their comfort to rise from the darkness of capitalistic oppression and control of the corporations?
People are revolting, the occupy movement is a revolt against capitalism and wallstreet. Lots of people just do not have the want to revolt, you have to give up a lot to take part in that kind of action. The occupy people can do it since they dont have jobs, but if you have a job and family your not just gonna drop everything and start a revolution or something. It would have to be some serious shit for that to happen.
Obama has always been only "better than the other guy."
McCain sure does sound good now doesn't it? As opposed to Romney right now, what REALLY fucked McCain over was choosing Palin as his running mate.

It is an uncommon idea and one that quite differs than the norm. I don't actually believe a revolution would need to occur in order for the Venus Project to become a reality. However chances are, if the Venus Project does become reality quite a bit of revolting has most likely occured. And while yes, Jacque Fresco admits that in the next 100 years he has set up the system to constantly evolve and adapt via new sciences and technologies. Also, for anyone who may not know about the project I encourage you to read up on it and Jacque Fresco and or watch this video.
Obama has always been only "better than the other guy."
I don't get why people keep saying this. I mean he's not a god among men, but he's definitely a nice president. He's attempted to pass health care reform (public option got culled by congress god dammit), has helped us dig our way out of this ditch, has proposed many job creation plans (some have passed, others have been blocked by the House), hasn't proposed crazy gun regulations like every Republican expected in my area at least, helped end the war in Iraq (although bolstering troops in Afghanistan, he's slowly moving them out in the next 2 years), put a good effort into closing Guantanamo (again, blocked), has proposed to cut defense spending and reinvest that into infrastructure and education, so on and so forth. I really don't see the problem with him. The problem lies in the Republican dominated House, and if Democrats don't vote well enough for Senate, possibly soon an entire Republican controlled CONGRESS. People should focus on voting for the real law makers, the Congress. Obama's a good president, can we fucking get some change in the law makers? [editline]30th September 2012[/editline] Oh, and although I agree with some of his points, and believe that the drones are bad and all, I don't want to think about what would happen if the Libertarian viewing Reason had its way. There goes our progress in the last years to protect the people and ensuring they have rights!

Congress has law making power, Judicial has the MOST power, deciding what can or can not be passed and such. The Executive branch was designed to be weak. Their real power lies in giving speeches and rallying the public. I don't know if it was designed that way, but it is certainly the current power of it.

I have to admit, I do fall into the trap of thinking everything Romney does is vile and repugnant, and that when Obama fails at anything in office, put it down to a merely systemic problem. But on second thought, if Romney did get in, all of his failures would be systemic problems too. But at least there's some solace in the fact that Obama actually does seem to be trying to make American politics less of a joke. Republican candidates always just seem like weird abominations of often the worst parts of American culture. At least with a democrat in office its a sign that a significant amount of Americans don't follow that train of thought, even though they do subscribe to the silliest democratic system of probably the entire world.

Obama can veto! This is why I really want him in office. Not to mention I just support the Democratic platform in most cases (except for some things, like Gun Control). He can also persuade the people into rallying against a cause and also really push certain bills in the Congress, as he's the face of America.
Ah, it only people thought this way when bush was still president.
Difference with Bush is he spearheaded many of the things he was criticized for. The tax cuts, the wars, all of that was something he could've vetoed and instead, went ahead and passed. He wanted them to pass, thinking they were a good idea. They weren't. Obama, on the other hand, has actively been fighting against the House in a desperate attempt to pass legislation. Bush didn't have to fight nearly to the extent Obama has. Obama's trying to convince the Congress to pass laws that would benefit us, while Bush tried to convince them to pass laws that harmed us.
Ah, if only people thought this way when bush was still president.
yeah except people lost their enthusiasm when they saw how stupid Bush was at every turn. even his supporters would sigh and wince at his statements. it's no surprise they've completely erased Bush from republican history.
McCain sure does sound good now doesn't it? We'd be just as bad off, if not worse under McCain.
Why wont the people of America revolt?
Gary Johnson most likely. Too bad third parties struggle so much. [editline]29th September 2012[/editline] Things like that just make me groan. How did we fall to a party system where we have to vote for lesser evils.
Gary Johnson was pretty much screwed either way, he would've lost to Romney for the Republican nominee spot and the media only focuses on Democrats and Republicans.
