I've got experience in Photoshop but no experience in illustrator (WHAT) but I'm always trying
to make logos and similar stuff which is kind-of counter intuitive.
Are there any tips you guys could give an aspiring graphic designer? I've love to get some advice from you guys.
work within constraints, learn to use grids, don't be bad

If it is logo's you wanna do, I suggest using illustrator or any other vector art program. Logo's should often be vector so scaling will not be an issue.
You should look up some design elements. Aesthetics play a bigger role in graphic design then just a simple art piece since your often trying to "sell" something. It will be helpful if you post some stuff for us to help you. For all we know, you may be color blind.

It looks... odd? It says "PUNT" right? The font is okay, but the brown thing which I'm inclined to believe is some sort of ball flying or... a hair, is not very nice. I do like how - if it is a ball flying - the ball becomes the period.
It was a re-work of the old logo for the mod. I had to change it because the Punt's are no longer a beam, but energy balls.
How do you suggest I make it better? I think I may rework the fire trail since I just took the eraser tool to it after a half hour fighting with it. I may just make it more pointy then the round dents left by the eraser.
To tell you the truth just take away the erase tool stuff, it will already look much better. And I would suggest making it a different colour other than brown.
I might try making fire trail appear to be interacting more with the type, like breaking through it.
For example the new Doritos logo.

I'm going to use the following painting for a poster assignment, which means I have to put text on it. I'm utterly awful at typography, and it's due next week so I have to print my final before I have a chance to see my teacher and ask for any advice.

I really am useless at it, can't pick appropriate typefaces, can't position type so that it doesn't fuck with the comp etc.

I remember saying this already in the other thread you posted it in, but it looks a lot like a cover to an old paperback sci-fi book from the 60's or 70's. Maybe you could draw some inspiration from that.
I actually threw together a moodboard based on that. But I accidentally deleted the only copy of it earlier :v:

I don't think you should be afraid to overlap the trail. Move it up, it's claustrophobically close to the robots, especially the copper/bronze one's arm.
Drop shadow also tends to make everything appear flat and just make the type look worse (but "cooler").
Pretty much what dgg said, the only big issue is that it comes very close to, but doesn't touch, the robot's arm and the rocket trail.
The type's colors make it somewhat subtle but your placement like that causes it to become very distracting.

In light of other's critique idk what to say really, it'd be great if you tweaked it according to the feedback but if not I'll just use it as-is, looks a lot better than my attempt.

I've never really had to draw anything in illustrator but I have traced a teddy bear outline and filling in the details using shapes, is it ok to do that as long as they are all grouped at the end result?

So for a class I'm taking we were comissioned to pick a brand from a list of brands assigned by the teacher and try to refresh its image. All the brands in the list already had pretty good images, so I guess the point of the activity is to appreciate the importance of a good brand or "if it ain't broke don't fix it" sort of thing.. So I picked Nivea and instead of trying to redo the whole thing I went with Starbucks approach and simplified it.

That text effect doesn't fit to multi-line style. You've defined the ground under "ZOMBIE", yet you make another ground under your already defined ground. imo anyways.
