[del]what else you think would work better?[/del]
Actually it's photoshop. I used one filter effect that I forgot the name of, and smoothed out the uglier parts with the brush tool.
Posterize. A downright terrible filter.

Pasterize no never. How about threshold?
Pasterize no never. How about threshold?
Threshold is only black and white.
But hey if you did two passes of threshold, coloured the different results to give different tones and then smoothed out the aliasing just to replicate Posterize, then that's silly.

Well I could scratch the alaising, but do the two passes and it would come out quite neat.
What are your favorite typefaces?

If you really want to get into graphic design, you're going to need to be able to create vector shapes from scratch, I'd highly recommend doing it manually. Either by "tracing" over the image with the pen tool. or my personal favourite, printing it out and actually tracing it, defining your shape by hand, then scanning and creating your vector shapes from there. Stencils are a great opportunity for practice.

Clarendon's got to be one of the classics I just keep coming back to. But like I've said previously, I've got a bit of a thing for slab serifs, mm
I don't suppose anyone'd be able to tell me what font this is, would they?
I already did some vexeling while learning illustrator. Came up with one finished image, and a lot more to come.

When it comes to the scanning, which tool would you recommend to trace it by hand?
I'm still a bit green in the more advanced gd stuff. Been working in photoshop for around 7 years now, but my requests consisted of invitations, menus, stuff like that.

I'm not sure i'll ever use it but it looks beautiful

Perosnally I think that font is awful, the 'r' seems so out of place, along with some of the other letters such as 'a' which really don't feel good with the other standard letters. Maybe thats just me. I'm a big fan of stock fonts (partially because that is all that I can afford), but you can do a lot with stock fonts with a bit of simple vector editing. Other than that I am trying to learn hand-drawing of type and type logos because it is a highly useful skill.

I really like Pacifico, though I feel bad for ever using it because it's so popular these days. It's one of the best 'script' fonts I've ever seen, really flows well.

Bebas Neue is probably my favourite though, it looks so much better than the 'default' sans serif fonts like Arial.

Also I know it's a ridiculous cliché by now but Helvetica is just perfect.
We had to make a cook booklet for Typography class, I didn't want to make a serious project. Content is kind of cornball, but I made a layout I liked though.

I like it :v
Yah, threshold seems to work a lot better than the filters.
Make a parody of a polish propaganda poster.

I really like the way it made the background look.
ps. too much blue?
Mind translating/explaining?
Mind translating/explaining?
Sorry. Thought nobody cared about that.
Well the title translates to "My brother died. Remember it!".
The person on the photo is Jarosław Kaczyński, the brother of the former Polish president Lech Kaczyński who died in a plane catastrophe. After that happened, new elections have started and Jarosław decided to go for president as well. The problem was that 75% of his political campaign relied on reminding everyone that his brother died. Now- four years after, when new elections are quite close...he's slowly starting to do the same damn thing.

Oh man, in my highschool graphic design class I had to make a menu and I did the same thing, except your content comparatively hilarious and your style is clean and sleek. Five out of three

Looks pretty nice, I'm fairly amateur at web design (coding wise), do you have a trick for making an image heavy site like that load as fast as possible?
I'm not sure you guys are the right people to ask- but does this motion graphic credit sequence I'm working on look like shit?
The still images will be replaced with video once it's shot. As well, I'd leave them up longer but I only have 10 seconds to fit in three actors and three crew members.
Watch in 720p if you please.

Any advice at all would be awesome.

I like it, but it does seem a bit flat. Perhaps apply some soft shadows to the bars? (or how do you say it)
'Drop shadow' is probably the term. I know it gets criticized when used on a lot of graphic design projects as being 'amateur' so I'm hesitant to try it.

I never put much thought into that. :v: but probably tinker with image compression.
Get rid of the outline on the bars.
Now that you mention it, I agree. Done :)
Also made a seperate thread for further developments. I removed the stroke on the solids and changed up the fonts but I still don't know what to think.

I know there are some small errors, sorryboutthat.
