[editline]03:01PM[/editline] In the game storyline Sub-Zero helped raid Scorpion's village and kill his men and family. Sub-zero kills Scorpion also, who comes back from hell as a skeleton reincarnate. Scorpion kills him. However Scorpion finds out that he is still alive. It's later revealed that Quan Chi did it, and Scorpion finds out the new Sub-Zero is actually an older brother. No idea how they're going to go with it in the movie though.
mmmm yes it's coming back to me now, I think the storyline might be a bit faded in the movie seeing as how they're going with a slight realistic approach, and Shang Tsungs moves are mostly based on magic n stuff.
Scientifically explained mortal kombat. sounds good.
Apparently this is a proof of concept, a demo reel, it's not necessarily in production.
Apparently this is a proof of concept, a demo reel, it's not necessarily in production.
Kinda hope so, cause I think it was kinda stupid the way they spoiled Cages death in a trailer.
I love it. What they're going for is disturbing content, and they're pushing it to the max, since we're more used to it. So it makes it as disturbing to us now like the it was to the people when the first Mortal Kombat games came around.
Kinda hope so, cause I think it was kinda stupid the way they spoiled Cages death in a trailer.
It's only a spoiler if it's a major part of the plot, which it isn't.
waaait a minute what the fuck http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=69054&page=10&pp=15 scroll down a little bit it's the exact same head we saw of Sub-Zero. From 2009. There's no way a fan made movie could be this good
They probably bought it from the guy who made it. It's really well made.
Actually, apparently that guy who made the model has previously worked on a game that WB games was involved with, and the guys making MK are now property of WB, so it's completely possible for it to be legit.
Also it should be noted that if it is a movie reboot; there were rumors awhile back that Scorpion would be the main character, leading us to believe this is a new movie. While I'm sure fans will LOVE it if this was a movie: I'm equally sure it will be panned by critics (no surprise there).
According to what pattern? Neither the fans nor the critics liked the movies really. Also who thought of the brilliant idea of plastering an annotation box over the whole video so you can't see shit unless you click on it to get to another video? Anyway, I think this looks good.
That was the most fucking intrusive annotation ever. That aside, holy fuck a good Mortal Kombat movie may come out, what next? Raining fire and brimstone?
wow they killed off johnny cage fucking GAY
The whole giant twist at the end, was put together well, not showing he was scorpion until the very end, and the game effects after it cut to black was a good touch!
wow they killed off johnny cage fucking GAY
They've been doing it since forever. It's more of a running gag than anything now.
The whole giant twist at the end, was put together well, not showing he was scorpion until the very end, and the game effects after it cut to black was a good touch!
It was kind of obvious when they showed one of his kills.
They better make it where Scorpion later finds out that Quan Chi was the man behind his family's death like in MK4 and Scorpion's Grudge against Sub-Zero comes to a halt. If they kill Sub-Zero, the movie sucks.
wow they killed off johnny cage fucking GAY
I am glad they did he is the worst Mortal Kombat Character imo.
They've been doing it since forever. It's more of a running gag than anything now. It was kind of obvious when they showed one of his kills.
yea but at least in the games raiden reincarnates him every time, but this ain't no game yo!

is it like red for everone els ?
HNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG OMG That was AWESOME!! I loved it! Michael Jai White as Jax looks perfect! More please, MOAR!! ------------------- Ok now, on a more serious note, this reboot looks pretty damn good... this "Mortal Kombat" meets "SAW" concept has a great amount of potential... I better don't get my hopes up... As for Scorpion being the main character, I think that could turn up pretty good too... even though I'm a Sub-Zero fan (ever since I was a kid :P)... All in all, I like what I'm seeing so far!! :q: PD: Johnny Cage always was a lame character, I was kinda expecting Kano, goddammit... KANO FTMFW!! [editline]08:34PM[/editline] Mark my words: If this concept ever makes it to the big screen, somebody somewhere will look at a Killer Instinct SNES cartridge and will probably think "Hmmm.. why not?" ($.$)
I can only wonder if Liu Kang has any place in the reboot, since he apparently is no longer the central character.
If they kill Sub-Zero, the movie sucks.
I bet they will considering after 2 Sub-Zero became Noob-Saibot and Sub-zero's mantle was passed to his younger brother.
According to what pattern? Neither the fans nor the critics liked the movies really.
Well the first Mortal Kombat movie will always hold a special place in my heart (goddamn nostalgia), I can admit that this reboot looks far superior.
Well the first Mortal Kombat movie will always hold a special place in my heart (goddamn nostalgia), I can admit that this reboot looks far superior.
Same here.
UPDATE 2: Cat's out of the bag. This is for the movie, and it comes from the mind of genius fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. He's the guy who did the fights for the excellent Undisputed 3: Redemption, on DVD and Blu-Ray right now. I hope that this movie gets made with Larnell plotting the punches, because this guy isn't just a geek like us, he's also got an incredible skill and ambition to create the next generation of fight choreography.
Source (already posted) FUCK YEAAAHH!! :D
Didn't they change it up in the later games so that the actual 'chosen one' was Scorpion, not Liu Kang? That was his ending in Deception, anyway. Either way, Kabal and Kano better be in this one.
Also why does Subzero look more evil than Scorpion. Isn't Suby supposed to be a neutral or good guy, and Scorpion was like the pit of hell evil, and they were nemesis' in the MK series?
Scorpion is neutral. [editline]02:10AM[/editline] Also there is going to be a mortal kombat 9. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Kombat_9
I knew that mask reminded me of something. The WIP Sub-Zero definitely looks like something from Doom 3 or Quake 4. It's an awesome model, but it doesn't seem to fit, especially as Sub-Zero. Anyways, it'd be really great if, Kung Lao was in the movie too. It may be a long shot, but I can hope, he was always one of my favorite characters.

This is one of the worst butcherings of a series I've ever seen. Jax doesn't have his metal arms. There aren't any parallel worlds. Where the hell is Raiden? Scorpion is a specter, and doesn't have a face anymore, and Lui Kang is also nowhere to be found, not even a mention of his death. And why is Scorpion in a suit?
I think it's a rejected pitch for an MK movie. Ed Boon had on his twitter: Thinking of calling the next game, MK9: Violence of the Lambs !! Bah! Maybe not. :( This is dark and disturbing and involves cannibalism, like Silence of the Lambs, which is what Boon is referring to in his tweet. The bah maybe not means it was probably rejected.
I'd prefer to have a new game over a live-action movie.
And they're making one, derp.
