• Is Democracy really the best way to go?

If you know even little bits of Latin the name 'communism' does sort of imply that, though. It doesn't specify what's shared by everyone, just that something is.
It's true that something is, though. There is so much untruth floating around about socialism and communism, like the notion that everyone has to be the same or that people cannot make more money than others. (not true under socialism)
No, democracy is ill-funded, it's the political incorporation of the ad populum fallacy. To be elected as the best, you need only to win people over. An idea is made solely to influence the world, we do not have ideas for their own sake (well, certainly not political ideas) merely as a means to an end. We want A, we create set of ideas B which we apply to get A, therefore, the worth of that idea is based solely (hell, it's not even necessary to factor in objective worth) is determined by its agreement with reality, whether it'll produce the wanted consequences or not. (Well, I guess I'm really talking about decisions here) And its agreement to reality doesn't depend on how many people agree with it (well, most anyway).
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. At least that's what I've been told.
Qaddafi, Hitler, Stalin, Zedong. They all prove your point invalid. With all that power and no restrictions it boils down to "Do I want help millions of people I don't know, or build a palace the size of Versailles out of pure gold." Like it's been said before "Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"
i think democracy has a time and a place

we never saw democracy America isnt democratic nor any european state. Democracy is an excuse for invading countries the only demoncratic state was athens somewhere 400bc
I would like to ask you why Socialism is looked down upon in the USA. Even when no one really understands it for what it is.
Because of the effects of the red scare and the cold war.
I would like to ask you why Socialism is looked down upon in the USA. Even when no one really understands it for what it is.
I'd say it's largely BECAUSE no one understands it and because everyone immediately draws associations with the USSR as though the USSR is precisely how all socialism and communism must function.
USSR is precisely how all socialism and communism must function.
Which regime? Because I'm pretty sure the USSR under Stalin doesn't represent Socialism and communism at it's finest, what with his mass murdering.
as though the USSR is precisely how all socialism and communism must function.
I was implying that that's NOT true
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benevolent_dictatorship http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlightened_absolutism The idea is not a new one. In fact, I would agree that, in some ways, having a benevolent dictator is more efficient than having a democracy. However, there is no guarantee that the dictator who puts themselves in power, or the monarch who is born to the throne, will be a competent well wishing leader.
Julius Caesar attempted to do that and he was stabbed for it. People will always be opposed to it.
I was implying that that's NOT true
Well woops. Went too fast there.
The best way to run a good democracy is to have well educated individuals/citizens, the same can be said about socialism. Sadly we kinda lack a well educated majority. It isn't the best but we have the right to overthrow it when it is deemed inefficient. So far nothing better has come up
We lack a well educated majority because there is no incentive to gain an education beyond what is needed to earn money
Don't forget funding for education. Also, the enormous discouragement of scientific, logical, and existential thinking is replete and flourishing in our country. It's not just that people are lazy, it's that there is a fail education system and that there are fourth graders who can't read. Man, the USA is so screwed. I think I'm moving to Canada.
A democracy only really works if everyone in the country are interested in politics. However only a very small number of people actually seem to be, and an even smaller number within that are devoted to making the country a better place to live.
People shoudn't confuse "American democracy" with "Democracy" since the US has a 2 party system: majority wins. In countries like my own, there are multiple parties with ideas for every person and so far no party has had that much power that they could overwrite other parties.
Personally, i don't that a type of Government is bad, just the government it self. When you think of it, any form of government can work weather Democracy, dictatorship, Communism, or a Monarch . Any government can fail due to those in charge. Remember all Fallen Democratic Governments that have fallen, fell as some for of dictatorship or a monarch.
