I bet it probably contributed to its 3-wheel-drive-ness.
Hilux Surf? Depends on your definition of SUV? I don't know. but fuck, I would love to own a Hilux Surf.
i think a surf is the usa 4runner.
look for a 22re or 3rz manual 4 runner avoid the 3.slow i mean 0 3.4 is great also.
i say find a 3rz 5 speed 4x4 one i think 97ish
at our family shop we have had 5 3rz motors nothing but oil changes done to them and a few starters amoung them.
the red t-100 had 405k on it when we sold it
the black t-100 had 355k when sold.
97 taco 4x4 had 310 when totaled
my 98 taco 4x4 had 285k when toyota bought it back.
and the 00 taco 4x4 had i think 240k when toyota bought it back.
no problems what so ever just tires gas and oil changes with pennzoil cheap oil every 5-7k miles, they dont seem to like synthetic oil(blow by). all 5 speeds i think w59 trannys in them.
What about an 88-94 Suzuki Samurai? I hear they get pretty good mileage, and if I ever wanted to get into off-roading, they're supposed to be great beginner's vehicles

Dad has one that's gone over 1 000 000 km.
Now it uses over 20 liters of gas per 100 km :downs:
The engine kinda needs some attention
I drive a 91 Ford Explorer, and I must say, I love it. It has 212,000 miles on it. Its got a 4.0L V6, but Im thinking of putting in a 5.0L V8 next year. It gets ~15mpg. It had a 0-60 of about 12 seconds, so its not fast by any means, but its not bad, I've had it going 112 mph before. It has independent front suspension, good clearance, and 4wd, so it handles wonderfully in 8 inches of snow, I can jump curbs if they're in my way, and Its pretty hard to get stuck in a ditch. Good leg room, seats 5, good storage space in the back. Really good on maintenance, too. The front U-joints are just now going out after 20 years of use with no grease fittings. It does, however, go through alternators pretty fast in comparison to other cars, but I think thats an individual car problem.

and then we landed
I've had my explorer in the air before, there is a gravel road near my house that meets another intersection at a steep grade. If you ignore the stop sign you get pretty good air. I always manage to land it at a pretty small angle, so far I've only loosened up the front left coil spring.
