Heh. I found Parkway Drive to be the worst of the name. It screams "metalcore" to me. Architects makes me think of technical metal, and Bury Tomorrow makes me think deathcore.
Broken Silence makes me think metalcore, too. Though I suppose that's a bit accurate, since you're metallic hardcore. However, when I hear "Broken Silence", I don't think "metallic hardcore", as in a fusion of heavy metal and hardcore punk. I think "metalcore," the label given to many mediocre bands who try to be hxc by using repetitive riffs, uncreative lyrics, and br00tal breakdowns.
Aka crap.
Sorry to say. Also, people get a lot out of a name. For example, if your friends were to say, "Dudes! You have got to listen to this band, The Poodles! They're amazing! I love them!" you wouldn't be expecting something like brutal death metal.
Exactly, and unless a death metal band called The Poodles are actually really good then their name will only be used against them.
Wales eh? You might be as successfull as bullet for my valentine :smug:

Second thoughts when i heard the song. Pretty heavy.
That'll be the Zouk, sorry. :(

Almost all band names are used against the band, some will like, some will hate, you can't please everyone although we try!

Oh you know what I mean! :v:
I was one of the two founders of the band anyway!

Man I hate being the only metalcore fan :(

Hehe, it's just that I'm the bassist of our band and I would be royally pissed if one of the members started saying it was their band. But then I was one of the founders.
Man I hate being the only metalcore fan :(
I like metalcore too, it's okay.
Well, some. Not stuff like TDWP
Man I hate being the only metalcore fan :(
You aren't. They try to generalize music too much by what genre it is rather than listening to it first.

I think TDWP is actually deathcore. Regardless though, they suck ass.
Isn't deathcore full of the same flock of genericism as metalcore seems to be, though?

Yes.
I like it alot,
but to be honest the name sounds like
super generic.

Yeah I'm not too fond of TDWP either, although Louder than Thunder is a pretty cool song!
Glad you like the song guys.
The vocals are pretty good, I'm not much of a fan of that type of screaming though. I don't hate it, it's just to illegible for me.
Anyways, great song, I'll definitely keep track of your new stuff. I do like metalcore to an extent, I don't listen to it that much though.
EDIT: If I do have one crit, it's that the drums are to loud. I think SilverHammer mentioned this, and you should really take it into consideration.
[editline]05:50AM[/editline]
Another thing I really have to say, is that a band name is the least you should be concerned about. I mean, image doesn't make the music, and having a generic name won't make the music any worse or better.

Awesome, thanks so much! It boosts my confidence to know that a few people will be looking forwards to a new song from us!
All of the crits that people have made in this thread I've written down onto a piece of paper which I'll have next to me when mixing our next song, so you guys are making our next song sound better!
And I agree with you completely about the band name.

Did you guys know there is a band called the Poodles? They play hair metal.
And they suck.

^ ^ These fags
Ah, I thought that was called 'Glam rock' or something.
I know the name shouldn't matter, and I wish it didn't , but some people these days judge based off names and appearances rather than appearances. I'm just being a little pet peevy because I think this band has talent and could go far and get noticed. On a side note, How did you record?

Short answer; Overdubbed each instrument and played to a metronome.
Long answer; We used Logic Pro 8 to track onto.
Used SM57's on the snare and toms, two 'pencil' overhead mic's above the kit (one on the left side and right) and an AKG for the kick.
I tracked the drums to a metronome.
We then put the bass through an amp, and then DI'd the amp into the mixing desk.
For both guitars we used the AKG from my kit and an SM57, we placed the SM57 slightly off center of the amp for the hi-end and placed the AKG in the back of the amp (behind the cone) to get some bass.
For vocals we used a Shure mic (forgot which one exactly) with a pop/spit shield and a padded vocal booth.
I then spent a week mixing it with the limited knowlege that I had.
I then mastered the track, once again with limited knowlege, bounced it as .AIFF, moved it over to my PC where I converted it to MP3 and gave it a quick overview with Audacity.
You can watch this video to see the studio we were in and how we did a few things, and the amount of dicking around we do. :v:

I 'd at the tiny cheese-grater. :v:
I love studio diaries. Always such random shit going on (see chair-spinning :v:)
Out of curiosity, what's your role in the band?
I love your vocals, they're pretty damn epic. Drums are great too.

Gmod4ever - Yeah we love recording what we get up to aswell, it keeps things interesting when you're not busy tracking, and let's people know that we're not a boring bunch of guys, and that cheese grater will be featured in every video we make from now on I think!
And I'm the drummer.
DarkSin - Thanks! But I'm not the vocalist, I'm the drummer! However I showed him the message, he was pretty blown away, it was his first time in a vocal booth.
Interesting story about our vocalist is that his first vocal run through the song he was screaming everything, and we didn't think it sounded good enough, he couldn't get enough body to his scream. Eventually he came to the melodic part where he yelled and we all immediately looked at eachother, so we told him to do that for the entire song.
The low growls is done by our bassist, Joe. (The guy spinning on the chair) Who is actually only 16, yet he can belt out some pretty awesome stuff!
Turned it off after 2 seconds.
Turned it off after 2 seconds.
Well what can I say, we can't please everyone. :saddowns:
Actually, that thing isn't half bad.
"Identity Shock"
"Aural Identity"
"Dead Prospect"
"Methodical Oscillator" (Math metal )
"Paradigm Bender"
"Unborn Body" (techdeth )
"Apathy Dimension"
Most of the names it generates is shit, but if you give it a word and go through a few times, every three of or four tries tends to give a potential name. :v:
Though most of them sound like metalcore names. Or punk names.
brb using dead prospect
pretty run of the mill metalcore
can't say I haven't heard it before
decent but run of the mill
Personally I really like Apathy Dimension. Sounds very melodeath to me.
:v:
Apathy Dimension is pretty cool.
The yelled vocals were a little weak but the screams sounded pretty good. Apart from that the levels and mixing needs a lot of work. Definitely have some good potential there though.

Thanks! We're writing 2 more songs then we'll go back into the studio, so I'll post those songs here, hopefully with a much better sounding mix!
