Honestly, contemporary politics is a fucking joke. For ages, all I've seen is the right go on about the "violent left" and now this shit happens, they fuckin champion the guy. Hypocricy at its finest really. Seeing people trying to defend it as "defence" (yeah because a guy who bought a fuckin stick to hit people with is 'defending' himself okay) is insane really. It's like all self awareness is out of the window. People are so keen to hold everyone else to their values that they forget to hold themselves to them too.
Lets not pretend the pro trump supporters were less violent.
What compels such huge amount of violence toward differing opinions?
The idea that compromise is seen as a form of weakness and the subsequent radicalization of both sides of the spectrum fueled in part by an administration who used the exact kinds of rhetoric during a campaign that would provoke these kinds of reactions, combined with the protestors going to an area where they knew many people would be against them (the proverbial 'Lion's Den') and again people on both sides being verbally aggressive trying to goad the other into throwing the first punch.
