There you go
Thank you. I feel quite a bit more educated after seeing that :buddy:
I'm almost aching to think of FMJ or Apocalypse Now, but I'd feel dumb if I got it wrong.
[editline]12th November 2010[/editline]
So I could be a badass, just by rubbing my face against a concrete bridge at 100 mph? Our race is so advanced!
Wow guys I can be a hero by flying up in a rocket and exploding in LEO. :downs:
Flawed logic is fun isn't it?
Thank you. I feel quite a bit more educated after seeing that :buddy:
Christopher Walken tends to have that effect on people.

Calling somebody stupid when he dies by flying dangerously close to a bridge is not allowed, but calling somebody stupid for playing russian roulette is.
Yes, flawed logic IS fun.

But the thing is, those people went into the job KNOWING the risks.
Oh, and when your preferred choice of flight has a high change of splattering you to bits, I wouldn't exactly call it a 'new frontier in flight'.

"As where flying on a rocket into space has a high chance of exploding into bits, I wouldn't exactly call it a 'new frontier in flight'
[editline]12th November 2010[/editline]
As is with this sport, as is evident by the video.
Once again, you fail to see the point. If me and a friend sat down to play russian roulette, one of us is guarunteed to die. If me and a friend wingsuit off a cliff, there is no reason one of us has to die.

Yeah cause people that wingsuit are completely oblivious to the risks involved.

Once again you fail to see the point. RR has a 100% chance of killing someone. Wingsuits do not.
Wingsuiting = New frontier in flight
Being a moron and flying near a bridge at 100 mph =/= New frontier in flight.
"As where flying on a rocket into space has a high chance of exploding into bits, I wouldn't exactly call it a 'new frontier in flight'

And what does that have to do with anything? I didn't bring it up, I don't give a shit about space flight.

The chance of dying while doing this is so ridiculously high you could almost consider it a guarantee. It's kind of like waving your dick at a bunch of KKK members and shouting 'I love black people, gays and jews, KKK sucks'. Sure, you're not GUARANTEED to die but it's so damn likely it pretty much is.

What's your definition of 'ridiculously high'?

There's a bloody fucking difference between sport and national advancements!
Regardless, I grow tired of this. There's obviously no changing your minds, not that I really care. I was merely pointing out that it's a bit heartless for laughing at the death of someone doing a dangerous sport. If you still think it's funny, go ahead, I can't stop you.

I wasnt laughing at the guy dying. I was laughing at the noise and reactions of people in the crowd.
Good for you.
What's your definition of 'ridiculously high'?
My definition of 'ridiculously high' would be 'fast enough to splatter you into several bits'. What's yours?
If you're too thick to understand what that statement has to do with your post, I don't think I can help you.
Space travel uses years of R&D, years of training and some of the most advanced machinery and computer technology.
This uses a suit mimicking wings of sorts and a parachute.
Frankly, I don't see the similarities.

It's also heartless for you to dismiss the deaths of people in rockets as something much less important than this.

Text emotes aren't exactly respected around here. I'd have though an '06er would've known that.

Maybe (MAYBE) indirectly here:

In case you didn't catch it (I guess you didn't) It was supposed to be a satirical statement.
Meaning:
1. I say the statement.
2. You find the statement repulsive.
3. You realize that my statement closely resembles the Idea you just set forth.
4. You understand the flaw in your original Idea.

Even then, the chances of a failure with the canvas, the chance of wind whisking you the wrong way, a rock and a hard place. All of those are factors in this. Even if the bridge wasn't there, he had a low survival chance.

Whoops, my bad.
My definition of that would be 'as high as you can get by flying as close to blunt things that can kill you as close as you can.'

I beg to disagree. These guys are equipped with a parachute too, I'm pretty sure those suits are built to be incredibly strong and they'd have to be real idiots not to take the wind in account before doing something like this.

Quite.

I see what you mean, but there's always that chance of a screw up.

Yeah I prefer this one

Do you want me to go through the list of several thousand things that could go wrong with a rocket?

Hey, I'm just saying, it's the only thing I could find which remotely supported his claim.

Anyhow, what the hell are you still talking about rockets for? As far as we're concerned, you don't care for their deaths.

Thanks for backing me up on my point. My point being that a million things could go wrong in any situation, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

Answered a page back. You are all up tight about the wing suit death, but you flaunt this like nothing.

I'm not trying to say not to do it. I'm trying to show that you can't just be like "It's not their fault that they died". I'm saying that there needs to be extra consideration in these things, and flying near a bridge at 100 isn't exactly what humans were designed for.
