The synths are a great touch, & the vocal samples are great in this as well. The drums have a great swing to them, not to mention they aren't a single bar loop (looks like a 4 or 8 bar loop which is nice). The only thing I think you could add is a smooth baseline. Add that, and give it a proper outro and you've got a winner on your hands. [editline]29th August 2012[/editline] Edit: Side note, this beat will be replaced with the song later this week. Figured I'd tease what's to come.
Does anyone know any decent sample packs for use in layering drums, etc for hip-hop/rap beats? I'm mostly accustomed to electro so don't really know which packs are prevalent, preferred. Most of the ones I've been finding are pretty crap like some random ass $15.00 pack from loopmasters, sounds like shit.

Lookin for critique on my words. Still don't have any recordings yet. Get the cool shoe shine and you can finally be in this line to feel fine, but first give me a minute of your time to listen to this rhyme. Ask yourself what the real reason is you work to make this dime to pay for the sweet limes to put in your expensive drinks that connect to no links in this chain reaction to travel to the real action. My kind of faction. I am trying to help. Yet ye continue to eat your spiked ocean kelp, rub the smooth feeling lotion on yourself while I put forth my own motion of true devotion to the future of detracting the mistakes of the lakes of destruction and sudden influx of redux of past visionary memories. Excess recess helps undress the stress and cleans up most of this mess. Most of my lines are just me commenting on my statuses and more than likely don't have much relation to each other. it's more or less working on my rhyming and substance and different ways to flow together chains of thought.

Also, these are just a bunch of non-connected lines (as you stated) so that's like somebody asking you how a pizza tastes by having you taste the sauce, cheese, and a mushroom separately before they've been cooked. I can't personally figure out the flow here, so I can't really critique it, sorry.

If these weren't lyrics and there were no rhymes you would think the person writing it had some mental problems.

What I write makes sense to me, and in a way that's what matters most. It just helps a bit to hear from a 2nd party.
Kinda just put this out there to see if anyone wanted to use it for rap. Free to use! Just credit  http://soundcloud.com/steenrns/rapper-vocal-request

Really you should not give a fuck what I say and just do what makes you happiest. But if you want people to understand exactly what you're saying that I'd try and make a little more coherent thoughts. You want to provoke images in peoples minds (at least thats what I want to experience when I hear a song) and it can be frustrating as a listener when its hard to understand because you can't really form any coherent images.
Yeah, i understand that, thanks for the input. My thoughts seem to spin off complicated and almost nonsensical but some after thought gives meaning in my head. It's as if my subconscious raps for me before my conscious mind can interpret it.

SP-404sx beat I did today My first beat tape I just uploaded this week, MPC1000 & SP-404sx http://unsignd.bandcamp.com/ I listen to a ton of beats and didn't even know this thread existed. I mainly listen to lo-fi beats nowadays, some big names you may recognize being Samiyam, Knxwledge, mndsgn, anything on SLF TAPES.

All these beats are very good.
When I last came here, some guy told me to fuck off and go listen to Dr. Octagon. Well, I went on from that and now I actually like a lot of this. I prefer gangster rap. I liked snoop dog's first album a lot. So, yeah, thanks for that.
I make my own beats, may not be the best genre of music, but the scene has been nice to me, and this is my latest one. Just figured I'd post it, since I kinda want criticism on the beat as well.

You instantly become dickish towards me because you don't like what genre of music I'm in. CrunkCore is hip-hop, whether you like it or not. It IS the place for it. As for the lyrics, I disagree, as if you listen to pretty much ANY popular crunkcore song, the rhymes are even SIMPLER. I try to be clever with my lyrics, focusing on wordplay/punchlines. I haven't been making music for years. I've been making music for half a year. I just recently bought a $150 dollar microphone, which I used in that song. I'm serious about it. Also, what was wrong with the beat? Like really, give me some tips or something instead of saying it's just awful.
