I'm a skinny kid too, and my parents are too old to work out so I don't have really any equipment

They are toothpicks, I'm a lightweight/skinny kid as I said.
Well then why did you say that your legs are good?
go squat, kid.

I just felt like I needed to work on the upperbody/core more. I'll add squats to my routine though. Thanks.

Okay, and I'm sure all those who know far more than me can correct me on this, but as a general rule of thumb I think people tend to say that to build mass and strength you should be exercising with weights at which you can manage 8-10 reps (this figure varies between people, but it's usually around this amount).
10lb DBs... yeh when I was first thinking of going to the gym and I weighed a measly 125lbs I could still manage like 30-40 bicep curls of 10lb DBs (I'm sure I remember doing 50 on occasions too, but my memory is hazy here).
Sorry but you're just not going to see any progress with that sort of weight. Little things like that are made for women who want to loose weight and tone up a bit, not people who want to increase mass and strength.
Yeah my weight is a very light 118lbs last time I checked a month ago.
Height?
[editline]4th May 2011[/editline]
But yeh still even at that weight and maybe even with no history of any exercise, you should still be able to manage far more than 8-10 reps of 10lbs. You're gonna have to buy bigger or go to the gym, mate.
... either that or work out some daft way of combining your DBs to make a 20lb DB but that would severely limit your range of exercises and is probably a good way to break your toes so I don't recommend it.
I'm about 5 foot 7 or 8 inches.

Hey guys. I've been lurking this section for awhile now, thought I'd drop by and ask a quick question.
So, like a lot of people in this age, I'm a fat fuck. Since my bike is fucked right now, I used a stationary one, and, according to the numbers, it said I biked 17.26 miles (27.78 km) in an hour today.
For someone who has absolutely has horrible cardio strength, is that a decent amount? Thanks for any replies.
I'm currently working out without any equipment. The wooden plank in the wall got snapped so I no longer have a pull-up bar...
Anyway, I've gotten some nice results on my upper body from doing pretty much only crunches and push-ups. The only other thing I do is where I lay flat on the floor and I lift my legs up 90 degrees, and back down, (hold on to a couch if you want to do it fast) which supposedly works on the lower abs, which are no longer a weak point for me. In six months of half-assed workouts, where I would skip some days due to laziness, I still managed to get a really nice six pack, although I think in my case it was just good genetics.
Only thing I do for my legs is running a bunch, and lifting myself up and down on my tippy toes. My quads are a joke.
Can I ask, because this has often confused me, when people say "I can bench x lbs"... are they talking about a weight which they do multiple reps and multiple sets of, or just a single rep weight?
It really confuses me and makes me think that I'm doing something horrible wrong when I'm bench pressing.
I was a terrible shitty 124lbs at 6'2" and, previously, I was doing 4 sets of 8-10 reps of 66lb... now that sounds terrible. I would find it kinda pointlessly easy on my first set but by the 4th I'd be struggling.
Now at a very very slightly less shitty 137lbs I'm doing the same exercise at 88lbs.
People have told me I should be doing 'triangle training' and starting at maybe 88lbs, 8-10reps and then going up in weight while reducing the number of reps. Is this the right idea?
I'm suddenly really insecure about this because someone in another thread commented that they are a tiny 117lb but can bench 140.
(apologies for weird measurements, I'm converting from kg)
Anyone who says "I can bench x lbs" without actually being asked "how many lbs can you bench" needs to be punched in the fucking face so don't worry about that

Also whoever said that is full of shit. 117lber's couldn't bench their dick
When I first started exercising, I was more hungry than usual, and on weekends when I didn't do anything, I wasn't hungry at all. Now, I am less hungry than before I started exercising, even on days when I do workout, I have to work like 110% to get really hungry.

I've been making sure to keep hydrated recently though, maybe that's it.

It depends on some stuff like how much resistance you set on the bike and how intensely you rode. It's not a bad distance. How long did it take you?

I go up weight each set. For bench you probably want to do less reps try to shoot for 5-8 reps.
Lulz i have deflated soooo much in the past like month and a half of not lifting.
Not that much, weights stayed on though, so at least I know I can keep the muscle on.
Once I get back into lifting, going to go hard as balls, hit that young 270lbs before end of summer.
I just finished reading Arnold Schwarzenegger's Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.
Jesus Fuck.
Can't wait until the summer, my brother will be driving me to a gym. The only access I've had to a gym is my school's weight room, which my gym class, unfortunately, only goes to every thursday. I've only gone three times, but I love it. I got really motivated when I saw this in the book:

It's Arnold at 16 years old, and I just turned 15. When I do that pose, everything except my quads is more detailed. I think I can get a great physique if I really start hitting the gym now :D Can't wait to do some squats and fix these pathetic legs.
LOL K
post a pic with you posing EXACTLY like that and we will see how you look then
anyone can look big or defined or whatever the fuck you said normally, bodybuilding poses like those really show you what you have
idgi. why are you being mean to the kid
I've been working out for the last month and I'm starting to feel good about my self.

I'm guessing he's 12 and therefore "working out" is 20 pushups a day
i was gonna say don't be mean but i just realised i was far meaner
[editline]5th May 2011[/editline]
there's something oddly satisfying about finding it difficult to walk up and down stairs after a good leg sesh
good job making an idiot of yourself its 30 pushups
