He has low bf so it's more visible. I don't remember what you looked like so i can't really speculate. Got any before and after's?
God I hate people who get insta results after a few months working out, I work out hard and it takes fucking AGES to get anywhere (been working out about 9 months now and I dont have results like that!).
Wait, Maucer how long have you been to the gym?
Bought my first gym card in 3-4. january. Before that i only went to gym when my friend let me in for free, like once a month. I had db's at home tho
i bought a bench in winter but it ended up being a piece of shit so i bought a gym card soon after.
You will see increase of strength but visibly you probably won't notice many changes in appearance
what
I saw a fuckton of change in my first 2 months

I think, he considers 'change' something more dramatical than you I suppose.

how you get so big in so little time?
I think, he considers 'change' something more dramatical than you I suppose.
No i mean going from no definition at all, to it being sort of visible. I know I'm not going to get fully ripped in 2 months, I'm just hoping for a little more definition in that time.
obtaining definition is a lot easier to get than mass so it's feasible you can see a good amount of change in toning.

BASICALLY
"Big". How much do you think i weight? 166cm tall
I'd love to guess your weigh but I suck at estimating weighs of people shorter than me. Your upper body looks pretty fatless, but legs look fairly normal, so I'm going to say something like 60-70 kgs because I can't believe you'd be any lighter than that and definitely not heavier unless you're hiding a ton of heavy muscle somewhere.
obtaining definition is a lot easier to get than mass so it's feasible you can see a good amount of change in toning.
It depends on the person, though. Like me for example, I can gain mass easily, but cutting is a PITA and even at 50lbs less than my current weight, you could barely see my abs. Eating healthy and working out an hour every day.
When i said mass, i meant muscle mass

guess I should have clarified

you tiny
but you have fairly big mussles.

i dont know shit about diet stuff but a lot of your exercises don't seem like weight building exercises to me
let's take this as an example:
-> machine chest flies - 5 sets - 12 reps - 25kg
you'd be better off increasing the weight and doing less reps (more like 8-10) i reckon and probably 4 sets instead of 5 at the increased weight.
i know you're very light but if you're managing 5 sets at 12 reps then surely you must be finding this weight really really easy when you're on your first 2 or 3 sets? this seems kinda pointless to me.
might even be better to start at the 25kg, or maybe a bit lower at 20kg, and then do 4 or 5 sets but build the weight up each time. so do 10 reps of 25kg, then 8 reps of 27.5 or even 30kg, then 6 reps of something higher etc etc.
the same advice goes for your bench, bicep curls and tricep press exercises. if you're finding it hard to judge how heavy you can go though, which you might as you've only just started bulking, stick to finding a weight at which you can do 4 sets of 8-10 reps, not 5 sets of 12.
what's your wider goal here? just to put on weight... or to impress the opposite sex? i say the latter cos i see you're just doing arms, chest, shoulders and abs so it looks like you're just trying to look good topless, rather than actually build your weight up. try and be more rounded and work your back and legs more. if this means training on an extra day or two then so be it
i don't think there's any hands-down rules for bulking when it comes to the weight/sets/rep ratio, and the situation for you might be so different as you're very light, but all the advice i've heard kinda goes against your workout
-----------------
wait a sec. 164cm is 5.4ft? oh. aha i thought the italians being short thing was just a stereotype...
well, in light of this information, don't take my words as gospel; i have never trained with someone your height. things may be completely different for you
I find it really contradictory with everything else that people here tell to do like 5-8 reps to gain mass. What i've heard and done is to do 10-20 reps to gain muscle size.

Work in all rep ranges.
Rep ranges looking to elicit a specific response is kind of retarded, but it's generally accepted the 5-8 rep range elicits the biggest response in hypertrophy. Again, not everybody is the same though. Some literature would suggest drug free beginners and even intermediates respond much better to low rep (3-5 reps) concentric (no lowering) compound movements.
Did deadlifts with 74kgs yesterday. I may have to buy more 10kg plates, I can't fit any more than four 3kg plates and two 10kg plates on one side and I feel I could still squeeze out a few more kgs for the five reps I do.

I just switched from doing 10 reps to 5 reps last week. I'll let you know how it works out

your gym's plates don't go any heavier than 10kg? :raise:
haven't visited this section in ages.
maucer i am mirin them aesthetics hard, and only 4 months of gym as well? shit
[editline]7th May 2011[/editline]
I haven't been hitting the gym as much as I used to, only around 4 times a week max these days. I gotta start doing some cardio as well, my abs are starting to fade away.
gotta take some progress pics soon. arms are 16 inches now. (no idea if that's good, first time i've measured (actually i don't even know why i mentioned that i probably sound scrawny as shit now) )
I'm going to workout at home today.
I have a barbell and some dumbbells - what should I do? Full body routine?
I was thinking:
4 sets 12 reps pushups
4 sets 8-10 reps dumbbell bicep curls
3 sets 8-10 reps squat
3 sets 8-10 reps deadlift
3 sets 8-10 reps chair dips
3 sets 8-10 reps dumbbell chest flies
Is it good?
lol
