I wish I had space for a home gym. I hate going to the gym and almost every day somebody tries to tell me to do an exercise a different way. It gets really fucking annoying.
Also, I've been doing SS for a while now, when should I start doing more exercises/exercising more often?
I have a shed out back and enough money for a barbell + weight, I already have dumbbells. Should I gym or invest in equipment for home?
Go for home equipment. DO IT [editline]14th May 2011[/editline] so glad I finally got started back into lifting again. i had to stop for several months because of my swimming season did a 300 lb. deadlift the other day, which is dec, but I want to get it higher by the end of the school year. as close to 350 that i can.

I'm the one who tell others how to do the exercise. :smug: specially to this guy called Brandon.
Also, I've been doing SS for a while now, when should I start doing more exercises/exercising more often?
When you feel the time is right, baby
you can't really buy machines for your home gym though because they cost shit tons inb4 free weights > machines argument good luck doing lat pulldowns with a barbell
Wouldn't weighted pull ups and variations + dumbbelland barbell rows be just fine for someone who is a beginner/intermediate at body building
you can't really buy machines for your home gym though because they cost shit tons inb4 free weights > machines argument good luck doing lat pulldowns with a barbell
get a pullup bar. problem solved.
free weights > machines
Argument over.
So I took you guys' advice about weight lifting and Shot put and I did great today! This thursday I finally got the Glide down and I gained 3 feet! It was amazing! So I got to compete at the meet. Thank you guys for your help! I got interviewed by a man from the Stars and Stripes for my discus too! I also beat all the guys from the hardest school in Europe. Just me and the other 2 throwers from my team placed!
good shit what did you throw? I got my form down as well, hit a 58 in practice.
holy shit that is far. I have never seen anybody throw it that far. I threw it 32 feet with the Glide. Doing the slide (I had used it all season) got me stuck at around 28 feet but with the glide there is so much I could tweak to improve my distance! I just regret not using it sooner since this was my last meet. I think I did pretty good for a guy who had almost no muscle (I love the definition in my arms and legs now!) and had NO throwing coach. all the throwers just taught each other and watched youtube videos on how to throw. Weight lifting will defiantly stay a part of my life. Its just a shame that people are so put off by it because they think it will make them look fat or bulky. Muscle burns fat even if you are sitting in a chair!
um fat burns "fat" even if youre sitting in a chair too
maybe so but muscle burns far more.
um the caloric difference isnt all that much that its going to make a noticeable impact
Fucking bullshit, I've been at a plateau for almost 4 goddamn weeks, I've tried everything, Consuming more calories, weight lifting, eating more veggies and fruits, consuming more liquid. It just wont fucking come off, and now it's summer. I've been on a goddamn diet for a long ass time, since January, and while I have lost some weight, THE REST OF IT WONT COME OFF. Seriously why the fuck, I feel like I've been ripped off hardcore. Do I have a fucking thyroid problem or what? I've been running like fucking crazy, lifting like crazy, and sleeping a shit ton. But my body ABSOLUTELY refuses to lose one more goddamn ounce. [editline]14th May 2011[/editline] Fuck all you skinny twinks, and your being able to eat as much as you goddamn want and not put on a pound, I haven't touched a fucking potato chip in almost 6 months, and I'm still fat.
Potato chips don't make you fat, calories do. Remember that as you lose weigh your calorie intake needs to go down accordingly too. Don't give up, it'll work when you persist. I will, at least.
u jelly? u literally feel like jelly?
Fuck it, I don't care if it's healthy or not, I'm only going to eat fruits veggies and protein for the next week starting monday.
To put it simply if you do not have a caloric deficit then you will not be losing weight. Either you do have a legitimate disorder, or you are doing the math wrong. If you are lifting like crazy, then you will assumedly be gaining some weight in the form of muscle growth. So that could be slowing your weight loss down. Other than that, in order to lose weight you need to be at a calorie deficit, so if you aren't expending more calories than you are gaining, then no weight loss for you.
I'm only going to eat fruits veggies and protein
What do you mean by "protein"?
Nuts, lentils and of course whey. High protein/low calorie foods. I want to finish losing fat now. Is it possible that further fat loss is impossible for me? I've been chubby since the day of my birth, I've never been a low body fat in my life. I was an 11 lbs baby. I lost weight very fast, and I never really felt hungry, but I think my metabolism has slowed down. I threw in some exercise but it didn't make much of a difference, Now I've just completed my first week of weight lifting, and I'm going to keep going with it, hopefully that will aid in fatloss. But I'm going to try my 100% whole foods idea and see how it goes, going to eat about 1700 calories a day when lifting.
Just eating healthy isn't going to make you magically lose weight. You have to put lots of lifting and exercises in there.
Nuts have a lot of fat, maybe you should cut down. You could also have some low fat meats like turkey (I hope you're not eating fast food turkey shit burgers or something). An egg a day is great too. I'm sure this has been asked previously, but how tall are you and how much do you weigh? Any idea what your body fat % is?

But all my fat is pooled directly into my lower body. I want to get down to a 6 or 7% body fat. 165cm/66kgs? Pfft. That's pretty much ideal weigh for you height according to Finnish suggestions, supposing that you're a man of course. EDIT: or 0,1 points in the slightly overweigh category in BMI, but that's still a very healthy amount. I hardly think you're fat, unless you can show a photo which would prove you otherwise.
get a pullup bar. problem solved.
pull-ups are NOTHING like pull-downs in fact I like doing pull-downs way more
