Well that was silly of me, I meant Sit-Ups, don't know why I said push-ups.
Well, the same still applies. You won't get any stronger. Try holding some weight behind your head or on your chest while you do the sit ups.
for some reason when I put the weight behind my head during crunches my lower back gets strained way more than my abs
am I doing something wrong?

Try going lower, if it still hurts, your form is bad.
It might also be due to the fact you're having a hard time lifting it / weak back.
Can't really help you with the form except by saying that you MUST make sure you start the crunch motion from your upper back and then do the curling motion vertebra by vertebra until you've finished the motion. Do not try to do it back straight or something, you'll just hurt yourself.
If i cut down on carbs, just eat, like one sandwich a day, will it have close effect to stopping completely? or will a single carb completely damage the fat loss?
I really wanna give deadlifts ago, seem a great core and back excercise, anyone got a good guide? I have seen some, but they seem to contradict in some areas. Don't wanna try it then fuck up horribly

decreasing meal frequency to 1 meal a day, has harmful health effects. Proven scientifically.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17413096
when consuming 1 meal/d, subjects had a significant increase in hunger; a significant modification of body composition, including reductions in fat mass; significant increases in blood pressure and in total, LDL-, and HDL-cholesterol concentrations; and a significant decrease in concentrations of cortisol.

You can't fuck horribly without even trying. Just trying the movement with just the bar, will teach you well how to handle your body movements correctly.

browse through these as well, I started from watching his videos. Perfected the technique by trial n error, listening to my own body.

that study didnt moderate , observe or even plan out the food they consumed, only the frequency . its a bad study to prove your point
I'm having a bit of a problem. I figured this would be the best place to post it. I work out, but I'm mainly trying to just get a good build going and keep it that way. But one problem I have is Nocturnal leg cramps. I get them really bad in my calf. I can usually tell when it's coming, and adjust my leg and it'll go away. However, that rarely helps when it happens the moment you wake up and you're left jumping through the house on one leg cursing to the heavens. But today something REALLY bad happened. I woke up got a muscle cramp, REALLY painful, then another one of equal pain in the other leg, leaving me crawling on the ground like Anakin Skywalker at the end of Return of the Sith. They don't take long to heal back up, give them a good 1-2 hours and I'm good to go, but they're still INCREDIBLY painful.
My diet is pretty good, I get lots of potassium, drink only water and gatorade (A Dr. Pepper every once in a while.)
Anyone know how I can stop this?
I get those too.
the second I feel the pain, I stretch my calf as hard as I can and the cramp usually immediately stops.
mild pain usually persists for around ~5 hours tops
[editline]19th May 2011[/editline]
I also fucking hate how easily you can over-flex your calves and get a cramp
they're literally the only muscle that does this gay shit
5 hours? Jesus, my cramp pain dissapates after a few minutes.
Also, is there any way to make weight gain bearable? It's so horrendously disgusting, I can barely manage it. Milk, water, both are equally disgusting.
100lbs on preacher curls for 5 reps today. Awww yeah

Your traps do that too x_x It happens less if you have some potassium in your diet, try eating a banana daily.
Eat magnesium tablets for the cramps, helps me, my family and friends at least!
And to the how am I not dead yet, well, I just have one HEFTY meal (aka all the ~2000 calories in one go) and then I proceed to melt it for the rest of the day.
1 meal a day? sure go ahead

Nono i meant, only one meal with carbs in it a day, i will be continue eating protein and vegetables.

why?
First point: can't remember, might've had something to do with signals in the body etc.
Second point: I don't want to waste time making food and eating so I just make the damn food and eat it in one go so it'll be done with.
EDIT: making food for yourself is really dull. If I have guests I'll gladly spend forever making food and baking bread and cake but alone, meh.
I went to a sports doctor, a really good doctor that has a wide range of knowledge in just about any injury in any physical activity incluiding lifting.
He prohibited deadlifts for me though, he said it's a bad exercise. :saddowns: why would he say that? I just did 70 kg 4x today two times.
He told me to half the weight of my dumbbell exercises /2. To quit any exercises that have to use bars for now. And to use cables from now on, for my lower back sake.
On an unrelated note, my flared ribs really bother me, is there any way I can get rid of them?? I always wanted a six pack. :frown:
The situation:
Did a set of pushups, took a few minutes to recover.
Did another set, right side of head / neck started to get tingly near rep max.
The question:
Shit fuck am I going to die?
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
By the way I was also pushing myself to my absolute limits
yeah ur neck is gonna snap you off in about 10 minutes

Lol @ pushups.
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
Should I feel sore after leaving the gym, Cause I usually do for about an hour, when I first started I was sore for a week, now I can't get sore no matter how hard I work.
Got something against body weight exercises?
Lol @ pushups.

Body got used to it. Not a bad sign, continue work.

Machines are way safer and more isolated. His decision is pretty good as a doctor.
And he didn't limit the amount of time on machines? what, forever? Oo
Got something against body weight exercises?
Yes. They are gay unless you are doing pullups.
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
p.s that doctor is a retard. Developing a strong lower back from deadlifting with proper form helps prevent back injuries in the future.
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
"bad exercise" lmao. $10 says his lower back looks like an ass above his real ass
Yes. They are gay unless you are doing pullups.
Haha okay.
I do pullups as well as dips and planks in addition to pushups.
I'd use a weight bench but I only have 75 lbs of weight to use and not enough money to buy more right now.
Since I can bench the 75lb bar 30 times I'd say I might aswell stick with body weight techniques for now, better than nothing.
