I just have very little shotgun experience. (20+ years experience in every single other type of gun) I've also been looking at the Mossberg 500 as a starter.
Mossbergs are a fantastic starter. You can find the slugsters used in the $200 ball park with or without a rifled barrel. They usually have Iron Sights on the barrel itself, and the receivers are drilled and tapped for a scope mount.

I want something I am used to. So I am used to long guns for starters... AR/AK, bolt action, that kinda thing. Been shooting handguns since I was like 7. I'm 29 now... A lot of these shotguns I pick up just don't feel natural to me with the pump action and no rear sight. I've also gotten used to the "tactical" platform, and most shotguns that are reasonably priced, don't allow for this - I am sure they can be modded though.
How do you line up the shot with one sight?

What about this?
it's fairly intuitive, just try it if you haven't

I find myself not hitting anything if I don't line up the front and rear sights in any weapon I fire.

Mossbergs have one of the largest aftermarket pools available. You can pretty much swap everything to the point where the only thing mossberg is the receiver.
I still want to get the maverick over under sometime this year.

That's what I have been reading.

Hawk shotguns are 870 clones, so 870 accessories can be used on it with minor fitment. 870 has THE most accessories compared to Mossberg.

That it does. Honestly either would work great. I prefer the Mossberg because of the tang safety, but I really like having the slide release in front of the trigger like on a Rem. If I could combine them into one it would be perfect.
Isn't it expensive and hard to find now too? All the surplus of it is gone, so now it is a specialty round.
You can still get prvi partizan and maybe norinco but most places don't stock it, you have to order it.
To start off, My dad has an LCP, it's pretty decent and I like it. I want a tok, for a few reasons. May be a carry gun, even if it's a tad big, just depends. I have found ammo online easily and for relatively cheap.

I'd be a little weary over carrying a tok. Even the CZ52 in 7.62 tok, which is by far one of my favorite combloc guns, is very cumbersome by today's standards. A good ol' Makarov or CZ82/3 would fit the bill a little better as a carry piece in my opinion, and while they're not as cheap as the Zastava M70's they are much better built guns.

If I get a Tok I may use it for something else, but I'll also check out the Makarov and CZ82. I actually do like the CZ82, in part because of its magazine capacity.
I'm really hyped for the EXTAR EXP in 9mm. First affordable ($600 pricerange) 9mm AR I've ever even heard of.
I'd totally carry a Makarov or P64. Probably even a Tokarev. If that's all I had, no problem, I wouldn't feel unsafe with one. They're solid, reliable guns, all of them.
I carry my P-64. Dunno if I'd carry a TTC though, oddly shaped and pretty much the opposite of drop safe.
I'd carry the Tokarev before a lot of other guns to be honest. It's oddly shaped, but it handles well and won't stop for anything.
The only real issue I'd have carrying a gun that I connect to on a historical basis is that if I had to use it there's a chance I'd never see it again. It's the main reason I don't actively carry my C96, even though I've figured out how to, despite it being the gun I shoot best with by far. I only lug it around the property for snakes and stuff.
If cops didn't steal guns used in self defense situations I'd probably daily the damn thing. 10 rounds of 7.63x25 - which is by all accounts enough to stop a man - plus all-you-can-carry with stripper clips instead of heavy/bulky magazines. Bolt hold open means reloading it with the clips is quick and it drops the bolt as soon as you pull the clip out, so it loads just fine. Really it strikes me as an ideal carry pistol except for the immense historical value that'd be lost if I actually had to use it. Moreover, it's a pretty intimidating gun and I'd like to think it could save the day with mean looks alone so I wouldn't have to fire a shot. :v: Plus I can carry the stock in my bag and I'll be prepared if the Russians invade or something.
Ultimately I'm not personally very interested in many modern carry guns. I want a good, solid gun of steel construction with a bit of heft to it as a matter of personal preference. Call me a troglodyte, but I've not had good experiences with the majority of newer carry-oriented pistols I've shot.
I'd like to carry a CZ RAMI but I've gotta find one :v:

I have found that I like weight when it comes to shotguns. So Remingtons and Saigas are my choice. Benelli M4 if I had the money.
So what price would be the max I should spend on a 1911?
Preferably 0, but if you have to have one, $600 max. Spending any more than that on a 1911 for any reasons (other than historical) is just hilariously stupid. I feel bad for anyone who buys a nighthawk or any other overpriced 1911.

Honestly if you carry a Tokarev or a C96 or any other retarded guns like that, it's a hilariously poor decision on your part.
I sure as shit wouldn't carry my Tok, it's nowhere near accurate enough for me to be confident in it. The trigger's also shit and the gun's single-action only and has no functional safety.
The Tokarev I shot was decently accurate. I'd feel confident that I could hit the bad guy with it. I'd carry it instead of a slingshot.
As for "retarded guns" like the C96 - it is, hands down, the most reliable semi-auto I own (to include the rifles) - it's never experienced a malfunction, loads quick and handles well despite looking kinda weird. It's got good sights and is dead accurate, plus can be fitted with a shoulder stock that fits neatly into my backpack. Other than it being old - which doesn't affect its superb performance - there's nothing wrong with it at all other than maybe its length, but underarm carry is fine for me. Ultimately a gun is a gun and I'm going to default to what I'm good with. My current carry options are my C96, my 1911, my single action army and a cap and ball Colt. I don't carry right now because I don't want to have to use the C96 and get it confiscated, but otherwise I would. The other options are no bueno for carry.
I don't care for a lot of modern carry pistols because nearly every one I've played with so far has had some kind of issue or niggle that's put me off from it.
My friend's Tokarev is a fucking flamethrower with his cheap ammo. Spits like crazy.

I like this too. The twist off delta ring is awesome.
Yo so, what'd be a moderately priced powerful revolver? I've wanted one for ages, and I just really don't know where to start lol.
So, gun show yesterday...I saw an AT4 and it was $300.

Well without breaking the bank or getting a piece of shit the EAA windicators in .357 are pretty solid.
