I may be very late (and very wrong) on this, but I believe it was because the rounds being fired were subsonic, and those don't generate enough blowback to properly chamber a new round.
ahhh no I just looked it up, apparently the slide would lock and only fire one round at a time to have maximum silence (no slide movement) so I guess mgs3 adopted that and made it a tranq gun, although I don't think it was ever used as a tranquilizer.... After all the military doesn't really do that sort of thing, def not in vietnam, that's more CIA haha
Please tell me you're kidding.
That's the pump
To cycle the gun
Y'know so you get more than 1 shot?
Considering most of the discussion was about optimizing a weapon for the sole purpose of breaking the user's wrist, I think it can safely be said that I was dead fucking serious.

Navy Seals in 'Nam used a handgun similar to the one in MGS, but it was used exclusively on noisy dogs and other animals. IIRC they called it the "Hush Puppy"
I would get a Nagant revolver just for the historical significance of it, although I can't remember if I have even seen one for sale locally.
On a related note, I'm thinking of getting into old military bolt action rifles.
What would be the best to start out with in regards to fun-to-expenses ratio?
There is a local seller that have a SMLE Mark III* and No. 4 Mk. I, an original Danish Gevær 1889 (Krag Jørgensen), an M1 Garand, Swedish Mausers, Gewehr 98's and a bunch of Mauser 98K's, both in 6.5x55 and 8mm Mauser.
I have heard good things about the Krag, but the ammo is very expensive, since it is chambered in the original Danish 8x58RD cartridge.
A more realistic purchase would be a 98K in decent condition. Since I have plenty of access to rifles in 6.5x55, I would probably go for one in 8mm Mauser.
What I was most interested in initially, was a Mosin Nagant m44 carbine in pretty good condition, as both the gun and ammo were affordable, but it appears to have been sold. I could probably find another Mosin some where, as they are not uncomon around here, it's just that I have heard very mixed things about them. I know that Mosins are not match grade by any means, so I would mostly get it for the history and the shooting experience.
Little late since I was banned but get the SMLE. There's never been a nicer bolt action than the No1 MkIII. Most comfortable grip, bolt like greased glass, great trigger for a military rifle, detachable magazine or clip-fed, the butt fits anyone's shoulder just fine, great length of pull, they barely kick, and they're built to last. Plus you can get like 18" bayonets for them. I miss mine :( They may not be the most accurate bolt action but they are just absolutely wonderful rifles and too many people hack them up and ruin them.
303 may not be cheap in Denmark though so fun-ness may vary when it comes time to cough up the cash.

That's because Facebook is retarded.
Oh, and your phone battery is dead.
Went to the store today. If I don't end up finding a CZ, should I get the M&P Shield 9 or Springfield XDS 45?

No and No. If you're ever tempted to buy a striker fired, don't buy an M&P and don't buy an XD. Just buy a Glock or Sig's striker fired.
Glock grips just fit me all wrong. I'll never own one.
Glock grips just fit me all wrong. I'll never own one.
They make custom grips. You can also use the grip tape stuff too
They make custom grips. You can also use the grip tape stuff too
Sometimes the grip that comes from factory just can't be changed. I would say a factory Glock has plenty of texture for grip. The finger grooves, grip angle, and shape can't be changed so easily. So if any one of those things turns you off, then find another gun thats not a Glock.
They make custom grips. You can also use the grip tape stuff too
There's more to it then that. A Glock 19 (and other compacts) is the only glock that fits my hand, but even then it's not a natural pointer for me. Someday I'll own a Glock, but for that reason alone I'll never use one for carry.

Then buy Sig's striker fired, or the canik, or literally anything else thats not an XD or shield.

Yeah I was still looking at the Canik. Holding out for a possible CZ for a while longer though.
I wish i could win the lottery and just have a big room dedicated to holding guns, how awesome that would be?

I'd imagine most of us have had that fantasy at some point.

Just holding them?
I'd have my own personal range out in the midwest somewhere and all y'all fuckers are invited to visit.

Me too. I work in the liquor business, and I thought that was cool walking thru like Sam's Club sized warehouses full of liquor.
Then I saw this.

Well of course a personal range, but a big ass room to store them in and pick out whatever you want to shoot.

That's called a "house"
A house filled with nothing but guns, haha.

A house made of nothing but guns and ammunition.
Some guns have letters in their name. I think what some of them mean, but I wanna run some by you guys to see how correct I actually am.
H&K guns have G for Gewehr, meaning rifle. C is for carbine. K is Kurz, meaning compact. A is a version of the gun. What does the A mean? What word is it meant to be?

I think the a is used like US firearms.
So you can have upgraded base models like g36a2
Ausführung?

Alright, thanks for the advice. I have heard good things about the SMLE's, but also that often times, they are in very rough condition, due to having been used in the field a lot.
I kinda want to get an SKS.
Wow these tikka rifles are nice looking. Super well reviewed too.
Bravo

Mine was kinda rough, mismatched and beat up but still one of the nicest feeling guns I've ever laid hands on. Inspect it thoroughly, if it feels right it probably is. The one thing I would stress is to be mindful of the barrel crown, I seem to recall that 303 was very sensitive to crown condition. Great rifling and bad crown will keyhole like hell and even the worst rifling with a good crown will fly straight.
