I've seen panic buying going on. SGAmmo has sold out of .223 People on the local boards talking about how they ordered a few thousand rounds, not realizing they're the idiots causing this problem.
Hello, I am soviet ex-officer i worked at kgb for 30 years I've been given a al-48 semi-automatic shovel for patrolling Gorbachov's own potato silos Decided to post it here The photo is me 40 years ago pointing weapon at intruder
haha ok thanks for posting.
This is actually shitposting Thats also a ban reason
ITAR should never have been applied to allied nations. On another note, has the panic buying started yet?
From what I heard, Bush offered Canada an exemption to ITAR, but Chretien said "Well we'll be banning guns in a few years anyway, and want to make things as hard for gun owners as we can until then, so don't bother."
Shot my K31 today. So accurate and such a nice action.
yea I'm asking for citation on that because I've never read that before.
It's literally on the M1 Carbine wikipedia page.
:v: Finally got a job that I am actually interested in instead of a job that I get just because I need one. Pay isn't crazy good, and they only pay for half the cost of the armor that is required for the job, but hey, I get to be paid to carry a gun and ride around in a armored truck.
armson OEG because nam they still make them lol http://www.armsonusa.com/armsonoeg.html
I thought those were Singlepoint OEGs. Soldier Systems had a pretty good article about them being used during the Son Tay raid and how that set up evolved into the Mk 18 CQBR of today. And you said you need to wear armor? like plate carrier? What level will it be?
What gun are will you be carrying? And you said you need to wear armor? like plate carrier? What level will it be?
I'm going to have to carry a S&W M&P .40, which sucks because I hate the trigger, and I'm only going to be issued a level IIIA Kevlar vest, though I'm going to ask if I can choose to get something else, like AR500 or something. Not that I expect I'll need it, but if they cover 50% of the cost of one of their rigs, then fuck, I'll take it.
I almost had to draw on someone today. So I was at work and we had a huge blackout. Like my whole county went out due to a transformer fire. We evacuated all the customers and all the Associates left. Me and two managers were going to wait until a night guard showed up or the power came back on or if neither happened wait at the store all night on fire watch. One of our last associates needs a ride home so I gave her a ride. I pulled back into the store lot and I get out my car and walk up to the door. I knock and I'm waiting for them to unlock the doors and let me in but they're all the way in the back. While I'm waiting I see a guy walk across the parking lot with a backpack, he's a Spanish guy, taller than me by maybe an inch or a little more. Jacket, greasy hair and that sort of thing. He walks up to he and says "How's it going" or something to that affect, and I just say you know "Good." since I really don't have anything to say this guy. He walks past me and to the opposite door that I'm standing infront of (we have an out and in door, I'm infront of the OUT door so he's infront of the IN door) and he has his hands in his pockets, back against the door looking out at the lot. So when he stops there he says "Do you have the keys for this place?" and I already don't like where this is going. I put my hand under my jacket to the small at my back at the six'oclock where I have my Bodyguard 380 in IWB but outside my coat. I tell him no. Than he asks if I have a car. I say no though I know he clearly saw me get out of mine. Than he gets into the really dark questions. He says "Do you know what the crime index is for this area?" And that threw me off so I say "Yeah." and he asks me what it is and I say "I don't know specifically, but it's pretty high." Than he pauses and he says "Do you think you have an angel with you tonight?" now keep in mind that this is a black out in a really ghetto part of town. In the distance are constant sirens, no one is around to help me, no witnesses and the PD would not respond if I called them, not in a reasonable amount of time anyway. So when he asks me this I still have my hand on my gun and I finally get kind of assertive. "You need to walk away, you have no business here so get out of here." So I order him like that in a firm voice and he walks away but only like two feet and hides behind one of the building pillars. That's when I took my flashlight out and shined it directly at him, since he still has his hands in his pockets and I have no idea what the fuck he's doing. "You need to keep going. Keep walking all the way down to the next store. This is private property and you have no business here." I yell to him and he finally fucks off and takes off down one of the alleys. While I've been talking to him I've periodically been knocking on the door but now that he's gone I'm banging on it. I saw two PD cars with lights hauling ass on the other side of the lot and tried to signal them but they didn't see. Finally the manager unlocks the door and lets me in. I called the dispatcher and let them know what happened, they send an officer out maybe like ten or fifteen minutes afterwards who checked the alley, got in his car and drove away. I never had anyone come back to ask me what happened or anything. That was it. I'm so glad I had my CCW and I had it in a place I could get to it. I think now from the way he was acting he thought he was playing some sick ghetto prank on me but I don't know that for a fact either, for all I knew he had a gun or some sort of knife in his pocket and he was sizing me up. No fucking idea why he decided the uniformed security guard was a good target.
Glad you were armed boyo.
On single action revolvers with a safety position for the hammer, does it hurt anything if the hammer drops onto that position from near-cock? My thumb has slipped a couple times and allowed that to happen and it sounds pretty bad when it does.
This was actually a pretty brutal criticism IMO. It wasn't just raving nuttery like we hear from our loudest, most useless gun lobby in Canada, it was actually a cohesive political attack ad

Reminds me of all those model 8/81 ads.

Most single action revolvers had a safety catch or half cock to stop these things. Similar to how a 1911 has a safety notch on the hammer if you attempt to cock the gun, but slip.

I'm getting more used to it now and learning how to move my thumb without it slipping off. I had got used to my SAA but it's like 1.5x scale, Armi Jager import. Absolutely massive gun. Muscle memory had my thumb in a bad spot on the '51.

If you are not clingy about historical accuracy, you can use a file and put some roughness on the spur or cover the spur in athletic tape for a non permanent fix.
Yeah, this is the new Pietta. I've got it just about figured out I think, I'd just grown used to the big ass Armi Jager hammer. I've been sitting here practicing a bit with it (I do know not to dry-fire these to avoid breaking the nipples) and haven't had my thumb slip yet. Great gun, feels really good in the hand, action feels great. The .44 '51 Navies are apparently not exactly historically accurate to begin with but I could've sworn I heard about Confederates boring their Navies out to .44, so that's what I'm going with. Either way I'll tweak it a bit if I have to but so far I like it the way it is.
Is this a hunting thread too?
Is this a hunting thread too?
Sure, most everyone here hunts.
I might have ordered an Accu-Shot monopod today for no other reason that I want to try it out
Well, I mean, that's how you learn if you like new things. Just like the TulAmmo and my Strikefire II. Had no idea if I would like them or if they would work for my gun until I bought them. Speaking of trial and error, I think I prefer Magpul's 20 Rd Pmags more than their Gen II 30 rounders. Anyone else prefer the smaller box mags?
I've never been a big monopod fan, but I don't shoot enough precision rifle to care much about them. Also, I'm really considering a Browning X-bolt in .308 Leftie early next year as a range gun soon to go with my Dad's A-bolt. Though considering the rifle new is $900ish I might try to get a used A-bolt instead in the same configuration. Any recommendations/hands-on time with the both rifles?
Did a little bit of simple duck shooting in New Zealand. Now I've regained my determination to get a gun license and hunt back at home. Hunting and Fishing in New Zealand seems like a great store, very helpful. Some stuff I saw and or did [t]http://i.imgur.com/QTQhT1o.jpg[/t] A Norinco AK chambered in .223 and some AR15s, and a M14 which took me way too long to recognise. [t]http://i.imgur.com/OU1ojv7.jpg[/t] Self explanatory [t]http://i.imgur.com/bO2L2q9.jpg[/t] Got some fresh kicks to go hunting in [t]http://i.imgur.com/vQaGLdx.jpg[/t] Fuckin' rip off, wow. I'll dig up some more pics later, but I have a question. 1). In Australia, what can I hunt, and where? Is there any separate licensing for hunting, certain animals or places? 2). What would be a good entry into hunting, and a good entry rifle? 3). Are there any good online resources for hunting or communities, preferably Australian? 4). Can hunting only be done on owned/farmland you have permission to shoot on in Australia?
I might have ordered an Accu-Shot monopod today for no other reason that I want to try it out
Tell me how that works out. The sandbag I have now does its job but I love Accu-Shot stuff. It would go great with my bipod.
