Mud? Theres many forests, fields, mountains, and lakes, what are you talking about?
This past winter I saw more mud there than I have in my entire life. I was over there every couple of weeks. That said the parts that arent just mud are beautiful, but ND>Montana
Y'all want to move too remote.
Traded a Kimber Ultra Carry II for this bad boy. It's always been my dream to have a good double barrel.

You guys in Illinois ,is it worth getting my CCW or i it a waste of money? i already took the class because a church group got a group rate that i couldn't pass up.
get it
Definitely get it. Sometimes I wondered if going to the effort was worth it (In NY it's easier to start a business than it is to apply for a permit) but since getting it I've gotten into one situation where I needed my firearm and thankfully had it.
You never know.

It might even be easier for you to just get your FFL, then you can have whatever short of NFA stuff. Thats not much further, just gotta get that SOT.

Go for it if you already took the class you might as well go whole hog. Might as well have it and not need it than need it and not have it
EDIT:
I'm basically collecting CCL's at this point I have Utah non-resident Florida non-resident Colorado resident and an Illinois Resident license better over prepared than under lol
I'm going to shoot a Mauser Model 98 S/42K (pre production Karabiner 98k) based on a vintage Gewehr 98 made in 1925, later this aftenoon. It has been rebarreled to 6,5x55, but otherwise looks original, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it shoots.
It looks a lot like this beauty.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that my biggest regret in life is buying this Kel-Tec KSG.
I swear I'm not lying. I've never done something so absolutely regrettable that I can remember in my life. I spent $1000 on it (in NY mind you all guns are expensive here) for this thing and I've never ever taken it out to shoot and just had it run.
Today I -almost- had it running perfectly. For the first couple magazines worth it ran good. The ejection was a little sticky which means I have to hone the chamber a little more but otherwise no hang-ups.
Than I got some failures to feed from the magazine. Like, the shells just didn't eject on a full magazine. And I'm so tired of this gun. I saved up for it, read reviews and finally bought it and of all my high dollar purchases it's the only one I wish I hadn't made.
And at this point I can't sell it. Not only does NY State make it hard but I don't have anyone to sell it unless I go posting it online or something. Than I gotta deal with whoever I sell it to bitching that it's a broken piece of shit. I don't want to own this thing anymore though.
Like I'm 100% serious if any of you guys want a KSG that kind of works sometimes and maybe you have the motivation to fix it than I will sell it as is to you for like 1/3rd the cost and the FFL fees. That's an open offer to anyone. Take it from me, please.
I would literally give it away if you live locally and I can figure out how to give you a firearm without going to jail in this State. Hell, I would take it to a gun-buy-back just to get a $100 gift card. That's how thoroughly disappointed I am with it and on my death bed I will curse Kel-Tec.
Edit:
Polished the shell stop again. Now it feeds smoothly again, like it did before I took it out. Don't know if it will just do the same thing as last time but I'll try it again.
If it sounds like I'm being melodramatic it's because I am. Also just take it as a cautionary tale about Kel-Tec. If you got one that works, I'm happy for you and I would love to shoot it too. Kel Tec firearms are neat but I know for a fact I'm not the only person out there who has these problems.
I got a French MAB pistol that was so broken I took it to my favorite gun store and gave it to them for parts in exchange for a $50 credit toward the M10 I bought from them. In retrospect I could probably have repaired it but I was super mad at it since it was used as bait in its broken state to steal my SMLE. If you really hate it and just want to be rid it, take it to a gun store, tell them what's wrong with it and ask $200 for it and they'll take it and have their gunsmith repair it or rip it apart for parts.
I still feel a little guilty about the MAB, but I was very upset at the time. It was a neat pistol - I might acquire another one some day. Even though it was only .32 ACP, it had an interesting grip that was very comfortable in the hand.
The story behind that, since I don't think I've ever mentioned it here; the guy was supposed to bring it and a very nice Colt 1903 up to the range to trade for the SMLE. I wasn't sure but figured I would be able to make a decision based on the guns' performance. Well, he didn't bring the Colt at all and while I was inspecting the MAB he said he forgot the Colt in his truck, grabbed my SMLE in its carry case and left. He was in his truck and gone before I realized what he'd done. The police said it just looked like buyers' remorse and there was nothing they could or would do to help. It strikes me as especially shitty because I was in college at the time and had spent basically all my spare money on that rifle, completing it and getting the correct accessories for it (it was a 1918 Lithgow and I found a matching 1918 Lithgow bayonet, the grips of which had identical grain and stuff to the stock - it was a very nice match). I'd done all the research on its service history and had the associated paperwork with it. Who the fuck steals a vintage rifle from a college kid???
The guy is at least an Enfield collector so I know it's not being abused, but fuck.
I think I remember that story. Dude that sucks. The only thing worse than my Kel Tec nightmare would be if someone traded/stole it for a cool gun like a SMLE. That's why I don't really want to sell it I don't want to be "that guy" who sells a bum gun.
Anyway second trip went much better, I came home and polished the fuck out of those contact surfaces again. I ran out of ammo before I hit a malfunction so I can consider it fixed right? I even ran it really fast without an issue and I have evidence to prove it. I also have shitty posture because I had been on the mountain for like an hour and had to shit bad.

When it runs its a blast to shoot and it's really a innovative firearm but man the journey to this point has been long and brutal.

I've lived here all my life and you're talking out your ass.
I don't see how anyone could think ND is better either unless they've only been to east Montana.
Alright, so I went to the range and shot the Gewehr 98 (short) in the thinnest t-shirt I own, and I quickly realized that a thin shirt is not the intended apparel of the user, and this is why:

A steel capped buttstock transfers a lot of energy to the body when you are lying prone, shooting rather hot rifle ammo through a somewhat light rifle.
Wearing just a jacket made it fine to shoot, but I found that it is a lot harder to use military combat sights, than dedicated target sights when on a shooting range made for target shooting (well, duh!).
Overall I had a great time. Afterwards I completely disassembled the rifle, and even though it took me several hours to do that, clean it, and put it back together, I feel like I learned a lot from doing it.
Is that a KV-5 Tattoo? lol

That makes my blood fucking boil. Seriously, fuck that guy with a Sheffield-steel bayonet.
I love those old military rifles, especially the bolt-actions. If I had one and someone snatched it, I'd lose my goddamn mind.

Drop 5k in an IRA account, spend the rest on an M1A.
some of you guys were mentioning using tea to remove surface rust? how exactly would one do that? hot tea? cold tea? certain variety?

It's a credit card, can't really do that. Owned an M1A, got rid of it and regret doing it but I don't want another.

Nah, it's a late production T-34-76 obr 43 with a commander's cupola, I'm not that much of a nerd lol

You might want to install a proper cabinet for your accessories and ammo while you are at it.
Bought a DDM4 v5

Never really been fond of AR's but I figured I should own one for a while since this next election may be my last chance too for a while.

I've got one, I just tossed a couple of things onto the racks for show
I found a mostly functioning, pearl-gripped H&R .38 for $95 :v:
It's tempting, but I don't think I should. If anyone else wants it, help yourself- http://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/revolvers/harrington-richardson-revolvers/h-r-second-model-4th-variant-hammerless-38-caliber-dao-revolver-with-3-in-bbl-.cfm?gun_id=100694210

Ha that's funny. That means it's never been used. Give it a cylinder of target loads and watch the frame crack/warp.
I really want a couple of these shitty saturday night special type guns just to have them. I always keep an eye out for them at the local open flea market but I've never found any that didn't look like they were dredged out of the ocean. I know they aren't worth much, but I don't mind overpaying for one just to have it. Right now, though, I need to hang on to a bit of money.
