How does an Aussie SLR end up in the states?
Century arms imports them as parts kits then builds them on new manufactured receivers. I had a Britbong L1A1 that was built on a new imbel receiver IIRC.

A chisel? My dad said he could take the C1A1 (Canadian army designation for the FAL) and make it full-auto by jamming a toothpick in the right place.
I'll just leave this here...

He really should have fired tracers out of it...
He really should have fired tracers out of it...
Most ranges ban tracers from being used, they tend to catch stuff on fire.
I've always wanted to find a non-permanent way to dress my C96 up like that, but I absolutely refuse to do anything that will irreversibly alter the gun.

Kit build, it's finished except for no finish being applied to the carry handle. I could cold blue it...

So UPS just dropped a gun off at my door with no signature (it was coming back for repairs) Is that legal? I thought all guns shipped to me must be sent through an FFL.
I sent the AK through UPS to the manufacturer for repairs, and they just sent it back fixed and UPS straight up just left a rifle in a box laying on my front porch, is that allowed or what happened?
They're supposed to be addressed to an FFL, if UPS gave it to you, it was addressed to you. Fault doesn't lie with them on that, UPS guy probably didn't know it was a firearm. I wouldn't make too big a deal out of it.

Yeah, I didn't even know a package was coming, I thought the manufacturer would email me asking for info, he said he would update me on the guns repair progress, but I have yet to receive ANY email about the gun.
That's really weird.
EDIT: Is there anything I have to do legal wise? Cause I don't wanna get assraped in a federal prison.
It looks like you can ship firearms direct if the source and destination are in the same state. Otherwise I don't know what you should do in this situation. If it was meant to go to a particular FFL, I'd take it to him (in the box it came in) and ask him to do the paperwork.

It was addressed to me though, no FFL address. I was expecting the manufacturer to email me asking for FFL info, but he never emailed me even though he said he would, and I look outside my door and there is a package on my doorstep.
I haven't even heard of anything like this happening before.
If the manufacturer is in the same state, you're fine. If not, I really don't know what you should do. My first step would be to call them directly if you have a phone number available and ask what the hell is going on.

I am going to call the manufacturer and see what is going on.
EDIT: And of course they don't answer their phone.

You can do that, the same way as if you sent your rifle to a gunsmith to be modified, even in another state; there is no transfer of the firearm. Pistols however have different rules; take a look at Novak Sights for example, you can send your handgun to them but they have to send it right back after installation.

Oh thank God, I have been sweating for the past 20 minutes trying to figure out the legality of all of this.
Good to hear, if anyone is interested it is the AMD-65 offered by Classic Firearms, I got it, trigger pins fell out and so did the bolt carrier after 50 rounds. Later on the wire stock fell off after 25 rounds, as well as the front grip. As well as countless jamming and failure to feed.
But I got it back an hour ago, and it seems to be extremely tight now, no failure to feed.
Does anyone else despise the M9? Just asking(had to requal today)

Did you buy your gun via the Naked Gun School of Gunsmithing? Because that sounds absolutely comical, falling apart like that.
That's absolutely bizarre, my AMD has never had issues

Nope. Bought it off of Classic Firearms, you get what you pay for it was only $500. But yeah, seeing something fall apart/fall off the gun every time you shoot it gets irritating.

Is it an FEG TGI model or one of those weird 18" ones?
I thought Classic Firearms sells pretty good guns? Haven't heard of anything that egregious.

It has an FEG reciever, but yeah it is the long barrel one with the front sight post at the end of the barrel instead of at the gas tube. Really fun gun to shoot when it works properly.
One day I will buy a real SBR AMD-65, as I think it is one of the coolest AK variants out there.
Anyways, I purchases a Polish AK-47 underfolder from Atlantic, should be here tomorrow so I will post pictures in the thread when it comes. Hope this one doesn't fall apart on me.

I think it was the company who actually made the gun, ClearView Investments. But Classic sells their guns.
I always found it so silly that Americans can't have guns shipped to their door, but then again since Americans have no licenses the FFL would need to do the background check.
I've had 2 rifles shipped to my door via Canada Post (another thing the US won't do, USPS doesn't ship guns), and when I wasn't there to pick one up it went to the post office for pickup, which is like 4 blocks from my house and on my way to work, which was great because it meant I could pick my Howa up after work at one job and take it to my other job for the gunsmith to mount the scope on my way there for work.
I think the US is the only country whose national mail service doesn't ship guns. I'm pretty sure even Royal Mail in the UK ships guns.

IMO having a CHL or any sort of CWL should make you eligible to have firearms shipped right to your door.
The Boyscouts used to be able to ship a person a rifle straight to their door way back when, and gun crime was at an all time low even with such hilariously loose restrictions on firearms.

I guess it is annoying sometimes but honestly I can live with it. I like the feeling of picking it up in the store. Getting to converse with the store owner and other people over your new toy is fun.
I dunno, if I could have guns shipped to my door, I'd probably own a Hi-Point. I wouldn't want to look anyone in the eye while buying it, though.
So I guess it's a good thing we have to go through FFLs.
I thought this might be a good place to ask, do you guys know where the M1939 61-K AA cannon ejected its used casings? Was it out the back or the bottom of the gun?
