Pretty certain that's wrong.

I thought that for a while too but when I went visiting my brother at the base this summer he told me it was like 10 or 15, forgot exactly what he said.

You are not funny.
Hey Aus guys, anyone know of any other websites similar to Platatac located in Aus?
I finally found a replacement barrel for my Model 10. Nothing wrong with the original, but I want to make the gun a bit handier with a shorter barrel and I don't want to cut up the original. Trouble is the guy wants a check. I have never written a check and do not have any checks. This isn't the fucking jurassic period. Why can't a fella just take paypal?
The search continues.

How do you not have any checks? Do you not have a checking account?
Just send him a USPS money order.

First, if you are one of those people that refuses to learn how to write checks you are shooting yourself in the foot financially. Plenty of places only accept checks for rent, buying things like cars and houses is done much more easily with a checkbook than a bank transfer, and often bills for odd services come in the mail and are paid via check. You can probably find some convoluted workaround for each, but it's in your best interest to just learn how to write checks and most banks issue a free checkbook per account.
Second, go to your local post office and send a postal money order. You pay in person and they get a check in the mail from the US government. It's more reliable than just mailing a check but it's handled the same way so there shouldn't be any issues.

You guys still use cheque in the US? Weird. I've only ever seen one in the last decade for really large purchases at work (like hundreds of thousands of dollars large).

Most people here use checks for large purchases, or for private sale type stuff over the web for people who don't use paypal. If you're an adult and don't know how to write a check, you need to get your shit together.

Nobody in my town uses checks for anything that I've seen, not rent, not cars. I only handle checks at work for the $10,000+ payments. My whole life has been straight cash, debit or credit and I've owned several cars, bought loads of guns and am currently living in a house I pay for. I have literally never written a check. My bank didn't give me any when I opened an account with them.
The only thing I use cheques for is paying small debts to people or anytime I have to mail money to the government.

Color me surprised, but I would strongly suggest you at least consider the fact that your experience is highly atypical in the US. What are you going to do if someday you get a bill or need to pay the IRS or something similar, and the vendor only accepts checks?
I mean, consider that you asked about how you're going to pay for a gun part from a vendor that only accepts checks. You are currently in a situation where writing a check is going to be far easier than the alternatives. If I were you I'd take this as a sign that it's time to get a checkbook for those rare occasions where it's the best or only choice, it's not like they're expensive or hard to use.

It just seems bizarre to me for an internet vendor to only take checks when there are better, faster alternatives available. I might end up having to do it but it's a significant amount of trouble for something I'm likely to only use once - I'd rather pay a little more money somewhere else and not have to drive to the bank and get a checkbook and then mail a check and wait a week for it to get to the guy before he sends me the barrel.
Knowing that checks are a dated solution and their days are numbered (even my company is transitioning out of the stone age and away from checks and considering my bank didn't give me a checkbook or even offer me one even the banks must know) I'd rather not waste time with them.

It's just that some people like to have physical copies of business transactions, and you can't blame them. Personally I think the internet is the way to go too, but I can see the wisdom in wanting to have physical proof.

Even if it's dated and being transitioned out, you should still at least know how to use one and carry a checkbook in your vehicle or somewhere easily accessible. It's pretty insane that you were never taught how to use a check, let alone given a checkbook when you started your checking account. Most people I know don't use checks anymore either, just old fuckers and some oddball people online, but whether you like it or not they do.
What will you do when you're looking for some oddball part, and the only person selling one is a guy on GB who only takes check? Theres no way in hell he'll accept paypal, so you would be fucked. You should at least learn, just like learning how to drive a stick or properly mend clothing; you'll probably never have to do it but it helps to have that knowledge.
tbh here in Norway, almost everything is internet banking based
cheques are a thing of the past and only old people/weird businesses do them
Thats pretty much how it is here. Theres people who sell stuff online but dislike paypal from when it was complete shit nearly a decade ago and refuse to try it again.
I still write checks pretty commonly; I write one for rent and sometimes gunsmiths or specialty shops don't take credit cards, so I'll have to write a check, even if it's for $10. I only carry cash for emergencies these days, I never use it for normal transactions.

we don't use checks other than if we're moving around large sums of money or if you're like 90 and don't know how to use a credit card. most people use cash for in-person private transactions and money orders for mailed private transactions.
everyone I'm paying bills to takes cash and most small businesses don't take checks. last time I used a check was when I owed a buddy money for paying my impound fee since it was a sunday and I couldn't go to the bank, so I just called my stock broker and had him write me a check for $200. I signed it over to said buddy and that was the end of it

I use a cashiers check in that situation.
Checks pretty rare these days.
And if someone tries to pay for anything with a travelers check it's always fraudulent. Always.
I've been doing Loss Prevention for a couple years now I don't think I've ever seen anyone pass a legit travelers check. Why do these retailers even accept the damn things anymore?

travelers checks are weird things but it used to be that it was the best thing for foreign tourists to use
The only significant limitation on handguns in Denmark is that they have to exceed the length of 210mm. This is exactly why the Glock 17L is much more popular than the regular 17 with an extended barrel :V
17ls look so dumb though the extended barrel 17 looks fine
what about threaded barrels though why not just have a threaded barrel

Worked 2 years in retail as a manager. Ran the registers a lot and probably processed 20-100 travelers checks a day at each open register. Granted, this was in a tourist trap town in FL with thousands of foreign tourists coming in each day.
Welp, finned barrels are coming back:
Odd question for anyone in Illinois.
As far as applying for a FOID card goes, would it work if I sent my application in before I was 21, say 2-3 weeks before to account for how slow they work?
Pistols or rifles?
If rifles pretty sure you're okay since the age is 18 req. for purchase
if pistols, you fucked up cause you need to be 21 on your application
at least in NJ
Ruger has introduced a new handgun, the Ruger American in 9mm 17+1 and .45 ACP 10+1
Looks good, hopefully the trigger is better than their SR series offerings.
