Does someone have a monopoly on cheap gun parts or something? I have two guns from two different manufacturers in two different countries that have very similar shitty injection molded two piece plastic stocks with the exact same sling swivels, the same safety assembly in the same place and seemingly identical metal finishes. Brands are Savage and Traditions. I've also seen 10/22s with the same stock/sling swivel thing going on though they have button safeties instead of levers.
I'm trying to convince my friend to give me this old bolt action 22 that got turned into a pistol. He doesn't want it, an ex gave it to him, and she doesn't want it back.
Welp. For all the bitching I did, the PSA upper kits all came back on sale. I caved and bought one. Didn't go with slick side, since a couple of you guys warned me not to. I've still got room in my budget for whatever necessary tools and shit, and obviously a lower receiver. No ammo though, unless I can find someone to borrow a castle nut wrench from.
there's nothing wrong with slicksides and I don't know who would have told you otherwise. the aversion to slicksides as a concept is because production slickside prebuilt rifles are junk (think m&p sport)
Well, maybe it was myself that swayed me away from them. I don't really give a shit about a FA or dust cover, but a brass deflector was pretty much a must. Palmetto didn't sell any with just deflectors, though.

On the custom 6.5 Grendel AR I built, I used a side charging upper that works like a FAL, so no forward assist is needed. It also came with no provisions for a dustcover. silent charging is all I use my forward assist for
The bolt is neat but the lack of dustcover is kinda dumb.
a dust cover is kind of completely useless if you're not playing in the sand though
a dust cover is kind of completely useless if you're not playing in the sand though
More like useful any time it's taken off the range. It's like a $20 part.
a dust cover is kind of completely useless if you're not playing in the sand though
Some of us like crawling around in the mud and sand. I'm not one of them though. Get my clothing, equipment and weapon dirty? Fuck that.
no ar15s dont give a shit about mud. it's literally just sand
no ar15s dont give a shit about mud. it's literally just sand
Mud is just wet sand...
Mud is just wet sand...
mud is soil, silt, or clay and water. wet sand is called wet sand [editline]31st December 2015[/editline] learn your geotechnical engineering
mud is soil, silt, or clay and water. wet sand is called wet sand [editline]31st December 2015[/editline] learn your geotechnical engineering
Well if we are getting technical sand is a type of soil, therefore wet sand is mud.
sand is tiny rocks, not soil, but "sandy" can refer to a texture class of soil where more than 85% of the soil's mass is made up of sand. you can have sandy silt, sandy loam, sandy clay, etc. soil is primarily organic matter which is why soil mud stinks like shit I have a little bit of a background in this subject
Does anyone have experience with hardened arms stuff? I'm looking at their quad rails for my ar build.
I just dropped some money on this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K25RJXE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 looking forward to playing with it.
I was looking at getting one as well, let me know what you think.
I heard that the reticle is super small, which I'll probably hate, and might pick up a 3x magnifier for it.
So, I took my gun to the range today. Still love my AR, but I kept having a weird issue with my 20 round Magpul P-Mag. If I load it completely or with 19 rounds, it has a really, really difficult time pushing the round onto the feed ramp and chambering the round. Sometimes, with that mag, I can load the round, fire, and the firing pin won't strike the primer. If I drop the mag out, which is seemingly stuck in the magwell, I can go and pull the bolt back, and it will act as if the extractor isn't making contact with the rim and pulling the cartridge out. But it's only with that particular magazine. Likewise, the cheap polymer 30-rounder I got with the gun works perfectly fine with no feeding issues, but the follower doesn't seem to engage the bolt lock to the rear when empty. Any ideas what might be causing the issues on the mag itself not to feed and to fail to extract. Keeping in mind too, that when it failed to fire and failed to extract, it didn't seem to want to double feed if I pulled the bolt open, either.
Could someone else loan you a rifle to see if it had the same problem in there? I'd email Magpul, they'll probably just swap it out for you.
Tap that useless forward assist...
forward assist isn't for a proper ftf, its for out of battery. my guess is there's some sort of defect in the magazine's feed lips
Looked at a couple of Winchester 1985s in .303 on NYE. Wasn't confident that either would shoot straight, so didn't make an offer on either.
forward assist isn't for a proper ftf, its for out of battery. my guess is there's some sort of defect in the magazine's feed lips
No, it shouldn't be used as a permanent solution, but it would put the bolt in battery, which is what it sounds like is occurring due to extra friction on the bolt carrier against the feed lips.
No, it shouldn't be used as a permanent solution, but it would put the bolt in battery, which is what it sounds like is occurring due to extra friction on the bolt carrier against the feed lips.
it sounds like what happens when you drop a fully loaded steel magazine and try to use it again, in which case the mag is junk and needs to be replaced. the forward assist is for when the gun is gunked up, not for magazine failures
Tap that useless forward assist...
The bolt goes into battery perfectly fine. The useless forward assist would be useless in this case since I can get the bolt to go home just fine. Next time I go down to the range or I know my boss is going down to the range, I'll either borrow someone's rifle and test or see if my boss could test it in his AR. If it's still a problem I'll email Magpul about it. But, I had zero problems out of my Magpul 40 rounder and my 30, at least. I 'accidently' ended my day yesterday dumping both into a card board box at 30 yards just to have fun as the sun was going down.

Sounds like it's out of battery.
And hitting the forward assist still doesn't put it in battery. Hence why I'm confused by the ftf issue on it.
